Belts don't mean anything unless they're held by a quality fighter. And Floyd has made clear a million times he only cares about money. None of this stuff should surprise anybody.
I don't know if it's a case of being done or not that good, but he is at a stand still in his career right now when it comes to being able to compete with the best. Even if he beats Foreman, it is no measuring stick.
Cotto looked good in the Clottey fight. He just had to fight with a cut eye for 9 of 12 rounds. If you wanna say Cotto's done, blame it on Margarito and Pac kicking his ass. Clottey did well against him but didn't inflict any heavy damage.
The trash talk can be fun sometimes but really means nothing. I don't think either guy can really get into the other's head. They've already been trading words for years.
I don't care about the nationalistic angle. After Lennox retired, people bitched for years about somebody stepping up to dominate. The Klits are doing it. Can't really complain. Arreola failed vs Vitali and would lose to Wlad too, but he'd obviously have a better chance.
Might as well. He's not quite in tip top shape at HW. Trim off maybe 10 lbs and he's a strong CW. He can definitely win a title there. Love to see him fight Cunningham.
People know by now they can't expect fireworks in Wlad's fights. Maybe expect KO's, but not firefights. He picks his guys apart piece by piece. He's too big to go all out. I'm disappointed in the passiveness in Chambers.
All I hear is negativity. Hopkins holds, he's dirty, Pavlik is one dimentional.
This man was 43 years old in that fight, against a 26 year old with a huge punch and unbeaten. Almost everyone said Pavlik was going to knock him out and not only did Hopkins win, he battered Pavlik, entertained, his hand speed was blistering, he came in with the perfect game plan and carried it out.
That is possibly the best win of the last decade.
I repeat, the man was 43 years old, it was an incredible achievement.
Hopkins beat Pavlik's ass something terrible. People forget that Pavlik had just fought at SMW that year, and had been up to LHW earlier in his career. At least they do now. At the time, Hopkins was getting his props for that win. Over time, Pavlik has fallen off hard, and it's taken some of the luster for the win away from Hopkins. It was a huge win for him.
Berto is a guy with talent who's young enough to potentially get better. The Mosley fight was supposed to be the big fight to decide if he was truly elite or just a guy with a belt. Win or lose, he could fight well and be pushed to a higher level. Too bad it fell apart. Now he struggled with Quintana before he got rid of him, so who knows what's next for him. He ain't worth what HBO pays him, at least not yet.
This is unfinished business from 122 spilling over into 126. I won't call Juanma scared of Caballero right now. But that fight needs to happen soon if neither guy suffers a loss. If he goes on not taking the fight, then label him a duck. Right now, Caballero's kinda been pushed out of the picture in favor of Juanma fighting Gamboa. Can't say it's a duck if Juanma fights Gamboa or somebody else tough in place of the Caballero fight.
HW has no weight cap, and a lot of those guys are giants. Doesn't necessarily make or take away from the fights though. Wlad knows how to use his height. Valuev is garbage.
