Why does HBO invest in Berto?

As cult as the sport is, I think we can find room for any kind of asshat including yourself You claiming a fighter "lied" about a bicep injury without any proof or knowledge is a perfect example. And you will never find me doing that no matter what I think about a fighter personally.

There are plenty of fighters HBO invests too much in. Chad Dawson is a prime example of that and maybe even Paul Williams to a certain extent. It's not that they are not good. It's that their fan bases don't measure up to how much money they get paid each fight.

No Collazo did not, it was a tough close fight which Collazo was doing well then Berto came on at the end to win the fight in the championship rounds. Usually people gain respect for fighter for showing that kind of toughness to dig deep and win a fight~ I agree. People who automatically say "collazo won it" probably never saw the fight.

I don't care what he showed to the world, he lied to the public about his bicep, about the rabbit punch in the 1st round that was a legitimate knockdown, and then ducked Mosely with Haiti.... If you think going 12 with Collazo and winning 8-12 is good enough to make up for ducking Mosely with Haiti then you're a perfect Berto fan.

What are they thinking? The guy has zero heart, he might be hungry and young but his style is awful, he's big for nothing and lacks power and he looks powerful, it's funny...The guy pretends to be sad 24/7 Berto is not any kind of material that will become a regining champion, why the investment? He's boring, lacks one punch KO power, and is a lying, pretending punk who ducked Mosely with Haiti, I don't care what ANYONE says. If you are Haitian and offended, then how come he never talks about anyones names, etc. He conveinently pulled out before fighting the toughest mother there is pretty much. I'm not being insensitive. I'm being non knieve, if you think he seriously pulled out of that fight for personal reasons you need your cap twisted backwards for you. They (HBO) are making the same kind of mistake they made with JTaylor, but JT was a gold medalist and they never knew he'd get cannoned with that Hopkins cross at the end of their first match and changed forever with that single punch.... Thats not fair, say what you want about the kid, but he does have heart. He showed that to the world against Collazo.

The thing with Berto he needs a better trainer. He is really not ready for the top elite fighters. If he fight Cotto, Pac, Shane, Floyd he will lose. I even think if Margarito has anything left he could beat Berto. I thnk Berto could possibly beat Clottey but I think he will go life and death with him, I think he would have to dig deep and win the championship rounds to get a decision over Clottey. I think he will have a hard time with Collazo again. Berto defense defense is not that good, He gets hit way too much, and he can't afford to get hit that much because his chin is not that good. and his offense is also overrated IMO. He is not a good inside fighter, his footwork needs work. And, I think is time he gets a trainer that can help him with this. I think Floyd Sr would be the perfect trainer that could help him with his flaws. He needs to develop, and it has to be soon cuz he will have to step up against elite/top fighters and he might get ruined if he doesn't get better. I have to go I will respond to this later, but I will say my main issue with discussing fighters with most people on this site is that they can not seperate how a guy fights from his actual ability, meaning if they do not like the way a guy fights (with Berto I can feel that) he is not that good.

He took the last two rds but was losing bad until that point,all in how you see it i guess. You have got to be kidding me it was an even fight and by no means was Collazo dominating . You should go watch that fight again~

I thought Collazo won the fight. I had him winning on my cards anyways. But, it was a close fight that could of went either way. It was not a robbery. But, I do agree that I was impressed with the toughness that Berto showed late in the fight. And he won the championship rounds. Exactly..... This dude just fought two slick southpaw boxers back to back. When has Pac fought a slick boxer? People need to be consistent. you dont even have to be slick, just be black and pac wont fight you im white, i just notice he hasnt fought a single black dude on his level.

So HBO's supposed to showcase the entire WW division now? 90-95% of the fighters featured on HBO are either managed by Al Haymon or GBP. Williams, Arreola, Angulo, Dawson, etc. It's almost as if it's a prerequisite. Berto has talent, but clearly lacks skills and is a boring fighter that turns it into clinch fests. Up until their upcoming fights they weren't showing Bradley, Khan, and until a month ago Alexander. And if you really think HBO shoudl showcase him because he's that good, Berto isn't better or higher on P4P lists, than 30 other fighters about 10-20 of them not on HBO. Exactly right....
