Ali had the best chin hands down. He barely got hit but when he did, he could take one. Plus is he was quicker than people give him credit for.
I think people people realize how fast he was it's what he's remembered for however I don't think his chin and recuprative powers are given enough credit. I think his heart is what u won't see again not like his in all aspects anyway. But for just chin or not being affected by a punch I would definately definately day chuvalo. He fought in the same era and was never knocked off his feet not even sparring and is perfectly fine today that's pretty amazing.
He got stopped by Foreman though. And Chuvalo WAS hurt in that fight. He also got stopped by Frazier but I haven't seen that fight. But I agree about Chuvalo's chin.
yeah but chuvalo was tkod and have u seen it? he was hurt but not rocked and he was definately fine to continue. that was a very premature stoppage especially considering it was a man with a great great chin. also Aurthur Mccantee declared later he was reacting to his manager's reaction who was reacting to chuvalo's wife. I would normally say it's probably bullshit, but given what i'v seen I believe him. Also still that's one fight out of how many fighters in the greatest era for heavy weights thats still pretty good.
Haha, Ali was knocked down by bums like Chuck Wepner. Greatest chin? Alis chin was trash. Henry Cooper forced Ali to have to take an illegal substance to win. Ali was a coward, I will agree Ali had the best chin for a prime Joe Frazier to rest his nuts on.
ali's chin was trash? wow u really need to educate yourself before EVER making another post. His ability to endure punishment and continue on was second to none. Frazier's knockdown shouldv killed him but he was up in a second. Wow you really might top the list as far as dumbest posters I have seen on here. Wow.
No...Hatton does not have a good chin. Why because he took Malignaggi's punches lol He would have been down in his tune up fight against Lascanzo if it wasn't for that pathetic showing of favorism by the British ref.
He showed he cannot adapt. As soon as he was hit by manny he reverted back to his instincts which is running in with his hands up not using any defense That style doesn't work too well if you cant take punches. I still think its hilarious that people and him thought he would be p4p king by beating the p4p king at his own weight. How could you justify labeling someone that, that can't even move up 7 pounds.
And im not calling him bum, but I am calling him overrated and no I wont miss him. And you know why alot of people probably criticize him is because of his lack of discipline. Gaining 40 pounds between fights because of bad drinking habits and eating habits which is why he is a shot fighter at 30. I bet he wishes he could take that all back. He is a good fighter, but not great.
Thank you sincerely for all of the replies I appreciate it so far best price I found for the worst seats in the house were $300. Good deal? I have no idea what prices for a match like this would be.
how stupid are you? watch the mayweather/hatton fight and quit bitching you little pussies;you did the same thing before hatton got sent into the turnbuckle. Btw im curious to see how many of you are crying and making excuses for jennings I know I saw quite a few already saying he got robbed lol. Not saying all of you,but for those of you who talk shit like that your pathetic and don't waste space on here.
Exactly man. I too think DLH has the tools to beat him. His base plan was just all wrong last time. He can do it. I also think this fight will be much better than the last one. People seem to forget that Oscar can fight. I also had the rematch scored for DLH.
Robbery...you idiots. Pavlik was way more consistent and was way more active. You could tell that body shot really hurt Jermaine towards the end he even said so. He was also starting to get pushed against the ropes. Kelly was consistent while Jermaine would get in a few nice shots and try to steal em at the end. Props to both of them they each fought a good fight.
I had Pavlik winning 116-113,Taylor wasnt active enough,he fought in burst, where as Pavlik fought the whole 3 minutes, and OUT JABED Taylor,Pavlik sealed the victory by winning the last 2 rounds
Your scores?
Exactly how I had it.
No no one matched Robinson. I dont like him and Ali is one of my favirotes but no one touched Robinson. It was once said if god created the perfect boxer it would be exactly like Sugar ray Robinson. He could litterally do it all. No other fighter has done that. Plus he even went up as far as light heavy weight and would have done it too. Also look at his record. Crazy.
dude that list id garbage...tyson below bernard hopkins and eric morales? WTF smokin crack. Tyson was boxing for 6 years or so.
Why would Tyson be high? As dominant as he was what happened when he went against anyone who was even close to elite level. He got knocked out. And B-Hop should be even higher most title defenses at his weight.
No Roy Jones Jr. was his toughest test. Tough since 1994 are u fucking kidding me. Thats good for Bernard that Cazaghe will be throwing that many punches the more he throws the more he'll be able to counter. And Kessler your actually trying to compare the two lol. Probably his biggest upset was destroying Trinidad everyone said he'd be too old for that too and wouldnt be able to handle his power and output. I'm not saying this fight will be like that one cause fighting is like chemistry just because a + b=c doesn't mean a+d will have the same results. I hate when people try to do that.
so you dont think Bernards best performances were against much smaller fighters?
His best performances have come against both small and big. It don't matter who it is he steps up. Don't even try comparing that ****** to Bernard. Bernard fights hall of famers and ends their careers. There really isn't anyone out there he hasn't fought. Calzaghe fights bums fucking runners up from Contender. LOL. These two shouldn't even be in the same sentance.
TUNE UP FIGHT. break down the word if you have to. How heavy is Tito. 170 right? Like him or not the man has done alot in boxing give him the respect he deserves.
First and foremost I am not a heart-driven fan for either. If anything I was always a more of a Cotto fan. I used to hate Martinez actually. Cotto showed his physical skills and executed his gameplan perfectly, but he didn't have much to worry about obviously and mental pressure seemed to always be his enemy. At like 2:05 in the 1st rd. Martinez snapped Cotto with 2 jabs that were timed exc. and they stopped Cotto in his tracks and you could see the physical differences there. Obviously immediately after Cotto hit him with the L. Hook which sent him against the ropes and then knocked down.
I'm sorry it just looked like his knee going(body) were the main factor.
I have tore my ACL and broke 5 vertebrae in my back in a car accident where I went through the windshield & landed on a log. Later the hospital weren't listening to my complaints about my knee and tried to bend it the next a.m. while I was on morphine and that hurt worse than my back had w/o morphine. Obvious point is I just think its incredible that he could do anything with those issues. I have knee issues a lot, but not terribly serious, my back is fine as long as I'm in good shape. Also im no stranger to getting beat up as ive probably woke in the E.R. 20-30 times from a later developed seizure disorder and have had many more than that #. I actually started boxing after the car accident had happened.
I don't agree that this was just simply Cotto destroying Martinez.
Freddie Roach, I am a huge fan of, and a few years ago and before Cotto would've fired him because of his mentality at that time. Too bad for Cotto because he wasn't using his full arsenal.
I have tremendous respect for Martinez being able to go that long AND actually being able to box(move, punch, defend, etc.) not to mention having a great fighter like Cotto beautifully assaulting him. Also ,if I understood correctly, his corner stopped it. Not him.
One last thing(sorry), HBO commentary is not the greatest and pretty annoying to listen to.
I'm sure I'm going to get a lot of negative reactions, but this is an honest, objective statement.
Either way both fighters deserve praise.
Looks like that loud mouth moron Enzo called that one right. Both the Calzaghe's are always wrong on their predictions, wish they would shut their fucking mouths.
he sure knows how to talk a good game...which is why my money's on Hopkins, he's a sociopath when it comes to the fight game, am I lying?...just read the last quote of that article.. and Hopkins wouldn't take a fight if he didn't know what he was gonna do to his opponent...if only Joe had power and fights conventional ONLY then does he have a chance winning...if anything B-Hop should have just said "I'll never lose to a southpaw."
and if I eat crow the day after the fight then so be it...but until then, I'ma look forward to collect on his odds.. :D
Your right man. Thats what i keep trying to say he knows his ability and he wouldnt take a fight to lose it. To say that he is scared is ridiculous, B-hop has fought much meaner and mennacing opponents then Calzaghe.
the only punched he landed in the 11th was the illegal one. but people act like he had dirrel hurt or on shaky legs or something
Exactly and I would also like to point out that I like AA better than Dirrel, but the fact is he got schooled and was frustrated as well as desperate because of it and committed a foul that was cheap. There's no disputing the ref. was bad, but if he was trying so hard to give Dirrel the win I think he wouldv given him that second knock down which he actually shoulv anyway IMO anyway. I think AA's reaction showed he did it intentionally and his level of sportsmanship. I mean come on saying he couldn't see him once he saw the replay and then saying he just lost his balance when he was put down. Dirrel fought a fantastic fight and won get over it.
Brits are extremely arrogant and rude, they also overrate their fighters a lot. A LOT. That's the impression I get from 'em. I know they'll say oh, it's just our humor but hell, it's plain dissrespect what Bhop has been getting from the British people so he has the right to call them this.
I really like his confidence though. This is Boxing, Bernard needs to go in there like he's gonna kill Calslappy. He has to, he has too many things going against him.
I hate british fans. Booing our national anthem. They don't know shit about boxing. They always just pick there fighters as the best and twist everything to lean for that fighter. Ive heard the dumbest comments come out of there mouths "If mayweather had balls he would fight Klitschko,"or"Calzaghe has power". LOL. Idiots. I never had a problem with them until the Mayweather v. Hatton fight. Than they started running there mouths, and there still crying even though Hatton got knocked the fuck out.
Hmm wonder if his son retiring has anything to do with his losing streak? As far as the level of ego compared to what skill u have to back it up as a trainer goes he's a joke.
I agree DLH can still do it. He's got the jab to do it. Well see I think it will be much better than the first one even though I didn't think it was that bad of a fight.
Enzo calzaghe and Gary lockett will school kelly pavlik and take them titles back to wales no problem its gonig to be another great year for the united kingdom
Wow just because he's a British fighter you think he'll win. lol. Yeah another good year for you guys huh? Even though Floyd Mayweather crushed all of your dreams by knocking hatton the fuck out when all you retards said he was gonna destroy him lol.
Like the article however, I see the second fight being as close as ever. I would sure as hell not bet on Floyd considering the odds would considerably be in favor of him. Maybe your right on the assumption that Oscar is too old, but I just can't see Floyd ever being able to seriously hurt Dela Hoya. Secretly I think that is why everyone considers the rematch to be pointless. Sounds sad but its that old cliche that everyone wants to see blood and guts, and with this match up the chances of this occuring seems improbable. I also think that putting to much into Dela Hoya's recent fight with Forbes is major mistake. The key is the jab period. If he can use it for 12 rounds I like his chances, if not he loses a decision. If someone could please respond and tell me if I'm crazy in thinking that Dela Hoya's size advantage was huge in the first fight and that it showed how gifted Floyd is. If anybody can't afford to slip up on their skills in this matchup its Floyd, he just seems much smaller, and has to win in the middle of the ring. Something that can be negated with the Dela hoya jab.
Nice response man, right on.
Anyone agree with me?
Good shit :D Lets hope neither of them suffer an injury now leading up to the fight.
You guys gotta remember Hopkins is old but also do not ever underestimate Bernard Hopkins. His style is perfect for beating Calzaghe. Calzaghe doesn't like to keep his hands up, youll even see them drop when he's inside. Calzaghe also hasn't fought out of wales where he gets away with alot of things (e.g. grabbing oppenents head, punching back of the head) where that wont work where there is real boxing refs. Also comes with trip over here is fighting real fighters. Jeff Lacy after shoulder surgery and Peter Manfredo don't count as real oppenents as much as you euro's wanna say. Unless Hopkins's age has really caughten up to him since his last fight he'll take it. Calzaghe thinks to much of himself from beating no-body's over there. Just my take anyone agree with me?
Calzaghe didn't know what to say. B-hop smoked his ass. What an idiot brings up Kessler lol. It's about time Calzaghe has the balls to try and fight a "real" fighter. I remember I heard some idiot on here saying calzaghe has more power than B-hop thats funny. He's the biggest powder puff puncher Iv'e ever seen. You can see he doesn't even close his fists or keep his wrists straight half the time. Now Im not saying B-hop is a power puncher by any means but when he hits you its a punch that's right on the button and has everything behind it. More power Lol.
Also dont forget all the headlines such as Floyd trying to get Hatton to settle down on the late night partying and drinking. What was Hatton's response? I work to live not live to work. Yes he has such a dreadful job, how many of us on here would kill to be in his position and he throws it away by poor discipline.
