Taylor easily won 8 rounds to 4 (116-112).
Please tell me which rounds Taylor CLEARLY won except for the 10th? You can't give every single close round to your fighter, that's called extreme bias.
I think Taylor did a hell of a job and was more poised and elusive than last time, but he didn't do enough to overwhelm the judges. However, only one judge saw the fight accurately (Jarman; 115-113), the two other judges scored a lopsided fight, which was not the case. It was very close and I felt like 3 rounds could've legitimately gone either way. Pavlik fought smart and, with the exception of a few flurries, was never backed up or in trouble. Plus, since he was the winner by TKO the first time, the burden was on Taylor to put pressure and prove something, and he did not do enough to execute that. It was a great fight and I enjoyed it because you really weren't sure who won until they read the scorecards.
I had it 116-112 for Pavlik. Jermain definitly had a chance to win thou, he was just to gassed.
I don't think Merchant was nut-hugging to much, I think he felt he had to equal out the playing feild cause Manny kept talking about Jermaine. Although it did seems Merchant came off rude once ot twice about it.
Taylor wasn't active in most rounds, BUT HE STILL LANDED PUNCHES while Pavlik hit nothing but gloves from rounds 2-9
lol,,,dude he lost. get over it. he fought simply to not get knocked out by throwing a measly 38 punchers per round
Most people agree that Pavlik won.
There's always a few crybabies and poor sports.
There is alot of crybabies when there favourite fighter do not win, I remember the Williams/Margarito fight but when a fight is close its normal for people to score it for there favourite fighter.
i just hate larry merchant, cocksucking pavlik all troughout the fight that fucking homo.
Ive become a taylor fan, he did the best he could.
well, in all the prior fights, merchant was singing anthems to taylor... the hbo commentators always hype the HBO fighters... now that pavlik is in the HBO stable, he gets the anthems

115-113 or more for Pavlik. Compubox numbers also give a clear advantage to Pavlik.

Exactly how I had it.
Pavlik dominated the punch stats, throwing 845 total blows to Taylor's 456, with both landing a roughly equal percentage. Pavlik's jab was the difference, with 484 of them keeping Taylor at bay despite the Arkansas native's edge in power punches.
"I thought he was doing a pretty good job," Taylor said. "I knew it was a close fight, but I guess he won the last couple of rounds. He's a strong fighter, and I give him a lot of credit."

That basicly sums it up,so does this poll,so does HBO,Setanta and the ringside press who had Pavlik winning,ESPN had Taylor 115-113 but they scored the 12th for TAYLOR?! What where they watching? Pavlik had Taylor holding and hurt in the 12th,theres no way he won the 12th
Close fight for two very classy fighters. Taylor let up a bit at the end and left the door open, but I'd say he did enough to win. For long stretches of the fight Pavlik just didn't seem to have an answer to Taylor's quickness and movement. But Pavlik showed greater constancy while Taylor disappeared at times and seemed very tired down the stretch.
Overall, I'd say it was a good fight which reflects well on both fighters. :boxing:
