According to Bernard Hopkins, WBC super middleweight champion Carl Froch can become a superstar if he decides to accept his offer for a fight. Hopkins, 44, is willing to close out his career by moving down from light heavyweight to challenge Froch for his title. Froch made a big impact on April 25 by coming off the floor in the third round and battling his way to knockout of Jermain Taylor with only 14-seconds left in the fight.
Hopkins says Froch introduced himself with the win and now has the opportunity achieve superstar status by accepting his offer for a potential fight in New York at Madison Square Garden. Hopkins would like to close a deal within the next thirty days.
“Froch is a tough fighter, can take a punch and he has balls. It would be a hell of a fight and he got recognition for the way he knocked Taylor out. He deserves it. What better commercial can you get than by fighting me? He introduced himself by beating Taylor and he can seal the deal by becoming a superstar if he fights me,” Hopkins told
The Times Online.
