HBO crew is by far the best currently commentating for boxing.
Showtime's announcers are ****ing horrible. Tarver is the only saving grace they have. If a fight is absolutely ****ing horrible, they will still talk it up as some brilliant chess match. Atleast HBO commentators will say when a fight just plain sucks (Looking at you Alexander vs Bradley).
ESPN...Teddy Atlas...nuff said.
Most people here won't care because they're thieving cunts and streamed the fight. But yes, I felt robbed as well (partly from the Gomez/Canelo fight also).
I also love how the first thing Floyd says in the post-fight interview was "I want to thank all the fans here and the fans who bought the PPV!"
It definitely wasn't cheating, but Cortez really mucked it up with his confusion. He motioned for them to come to the middle, and then asked the time keepers if they were ready. I think this confused Ortiz, he thought it was still time out. His reaction to the first punch made it obvious he thought it was still time out. He should still protect himself, though.
Cortez should have kept them in the corners, checked to see if the time keepers were ready, and then allow them to come back to the center.
Why do people keeping saying cortez turned to restart the clock did anyone else watch the replay???
He looks over at the time keeper and asks them if "did the bell ring" he knew the round was close to the end. He was NOT restarting the clock he was asking if the round was over.
Uh, no. He looked at the time keepers and said Ya'll ready?
I replayed it 20 times in HD, with my surround sound on full blast.
Doesn't sound like a ref who thinks that time is already started.
I don't think what Floyd did was illegal, but only because Cortez made such a monumental f*ck up. He brought them back to the middle and motioned for them to re-engage before he had time started again.
I don't understand LETS GO can be a mixed signal.
It is when he looks to the time keepers a second later and asks if they're ready, as if he hadn't started time yet.
His signals were mixed, so I can't blame Mayweather for engaging, but Cortez shouldn't have allowed them to come to the middle until he was sure the time keepers were ready, and he started time again.
Cortez ****ed up. Says Lets Go, then signals for them to come to the middle.
THEN he looks outside the ring and asks the time keepers if they're ready for him to start the time.
Mixed signals, and for him to try and say he did start time is bull****. I still give it to Floyd, because Cortez told them lets go. But Cortez had no clue what the **** he was doing.
Ask if they're ready BEFORE you have them leave their corners.
FREE HBO: Why not?..Floyd owes it to his fans who are ALWAYS there to support his PPV's and for the haters who feel Ortiz was coming on, and Floyd took the "easy way out" and "sucker punched" Ortiz.
LOL, Floyd doesn't like his fans enough to give them a free fight.
I love how after a ****ty ending to the fight, the first thing he says "I'd like to thank all my fans here and who bought the PPV!"
For the longest i always thought if they ever fought Floyd would win the majority decision. Now, after seeing how he handled Victor's pressure, i feel the best he could do against a non stop 12 round come forward like Pacquiao would be a Split Decision, if he doesn't get knocked the fuck out.
Huh? Victor wasn't even applying pressure until he got him against the ropes.
Floyd was actually the one walking forward in the fight, and Ortiz was hardly throwing at all.
No doubt it was a sucker punch.
Cortez's fault for making it ambiguous as to whether time had started yet. (Brings them to middle of ring THEN asks the time keepers if they're ready for him to start the time)
Ortiz still needs to protect himself at all times, though.
He never said FIGHT.
After the point deduction he made hand motions for them to come back to the middle of the ring while muttering "Let's go".
A few seconds later, after they're back in the middle, he looks to the time keepers and says "Ya'll ready?", as if he was then going to look back at the fighters and tell them to begin fighting to start the time again.
Before he even looks back at the fighters, Floyd sucker punched Ortiz.
Cortez ****ed up majorly. Why would you ask if the time keepers are ready if you already started the time? Should probably do that BEFORE you tell the fighters to re-engage. He lost control of the action in the ring, and gave mixed signals as to whether it was still time out or not. Ortiz still should be protecting himself, though. What a dumbass.
Cotez ****ed up and lost control. He was so bewildered. He called them to the middle with gestures and "Let's Go", but then looks to the time keepers and asks if they're ready - as if he hasn't started time yet. Before he can even look back to the fighters, Floyd knocks Ortiz out.
Cortez should have checked with the time keepers BEFORE telling them to leave their corners.
I think he's honestly full of **** when he says that he started time. He's just trying to save face after such a monumental **** up on his part.
The face of a ref who had started time:

Flyod was whooping that ass, and would have very likely gone on to win.
It was still a ***** move.
I blame Cortez for not knowing what the **** was going on. Supposedly starts time, then looks outside the ring to see if they're ready for him to start the time...
Are you serious man? You're really going to try to debate with me something that's on video?
Let's go (hand signaling) = Ok guys fight. Same thing. If you've ever watched a Cortez fight, you would know this.
Mayweather and Ortiz touched gloves for the 3rd time after Cortez said "fight". Regardless if Cortez wasn't looking or not, it's game on. Come on man.
I agree that Floyd was in the right to engage, because Cortez said Lets Go, and brought them to the middle.
All I'm saying is, Cortez made it confusing by then turning to the time keepers and asking if they're ready, as if he hadn't started the action. He lost control of the action, and it was obvious that Ortiz thought that time hadn't been started yet.
Cortez should have kept the fighters in their corners, checked that the time keeper was ready, THEN instruct them to begin fighting again.
Floyd is in the right, but Cortex ****ed it up big time.
Ortiz said he was basically blanked out, and didn't really catch his bearings until after he was counted out.
The second punch, he didn't even see coming. He didn't even think that time had been started, because Cortez was looking at the time keepers and asking if they were ready. So after he got hit with the first, he looked towards Cortez to see what the f*ck was going on.
you're right, he didn't look at them because he had already told them "let's go".. he was making sure the times keeper was ready..and once the times keeper started his count when Ortiz got laid out, you saw that he was
Wouldn't you make sure the time keeper was ready BEFORE you motioned for them to fight?
Cortez ****ed up, and gave mixed signals, at best.
I personally don't think he really considered time started, and as going to turn to them and instruct them to begin fighting after confirming the time keeper was ready.
But he doesn't want to admit he lost control in the ring.
Here's a few words of advice.
Next time you make an ignorant post, go back and watch the fight first.
After the headbutt, Mayweather and Ortiz touched gloves 3 times. Cortez separated both fighters and took a point from Ortiz. Cortez then said "ok guys, fight". This was when they touched gloves a third time. Then FMJ KHTFO!!!
I could see if I was subjectively making this up. But when it's all on tape, that's when you as a poster need to stop and see what happen without being blinded by hate.
He never said "ok guys fight".
He muttered "Let's Go" while making hand motions for them to come to the middle.
Then he turned to the time keepers and asked "Ya'll ready?", as if he was asking them if they were ready for him to start time. Before he even turns back to the fighters, Floyd punches Ortiz.
Cortez ****ed up big time. Should probably check if the time keepers are ready BEFORE you allow the fighters to leave the corners. Cortez lost complete control of the action in the ring.
Did Cortez tell them to "box"?
Nope. He motioned for them to leave their corners, muttering 'Lets go'.
Seconds later as they get to the middle, he looks to the time keeper and says Ya'll ready?
Before he can even turn to the boxers to tell them to box, Floyd punches Ortiz.
The shady thing is, Cortez is trying to claim that he DID start the time originally. Doesn't really make sense though, considered he was asking the time keepers if they were ready, as if he was about to start the time.
Honestly, I think Cortez just ****ed up REALLY badly, and doesn't want to admit it.
None of your comparisons are comparable at all...
There's a difference between rushing the defense and punching a guy immediately after he tries to apologize.
that should be the 4th Point to be honest lol
dude been pushing ALL NIGHT!
Stop being a ******, so has Peterson. Peterson would get Khan against the ropes and push him in the face with his forearm. The ref NEVER said anything to Peterson all ****ing fight. Pathetic.
Goddamn this Ref is so biased. Only warning he gives Peterson is to keeo his head up...meanwhile he's pushing, holding his glove in Khan's face to blind him while he throws punches, etc.
Khan maybe deserved his deduction, but Ref isn't saying **** to Peterson.
F*CK THE HBO TEAM WITH A BRICK!!!!
khan has been pushing ALL FIGHT LONG.
F*CK YOU F*CK YOU **** YOU!!!!!!
Get Petersons dick out of your mouth, Peterson has been pushing and **** all fight too. Khan just gave up and kept doing it because the ref was yelling solely at him all ****ing fight, without saying ANYTHING to Peterson despite committing similar fouls.
Such bull****. Peterson was not even impressive. He would just push Khan against the ropes while the Ref yelled at Khan to fight out.
Khan has NO INSIDE SKILLS AT ALL!
and his Clinching is HORRIBLE!
Thing is, Peterson is leaning against Kahn...and the ref is yelling at Khan to fight out.
"I'm gonna blow you up bro!"
Bradley is truly delivering on his promise. He's straight up enslaving casamayor and turning him into a child prostitute.
Casamayor just has no ****ing game.
You can't even give Bradley credit for this sh!t.
