I've already wasted enough time posting about the KO. If that's what your looking to do here, than move on.
I just want to know how you think Mayweather looked in those 4 rounds??? The first 3-4 rounds are when Floyd is usually feeling out his opponent, especially southpaws. Also, the first half of the fight is suppose to be when Ortiz is at his best.
How do you think Floyd looked in those four rounds???
Stats: Mayweather landed 73 of 208 punches (35%). Ortiz landed 26 of 148 punches (17%). Mayweather out landed and out threw Ortiz.
Still obviously has the boxing ability but he's definitely lost his legs, much more leaden-footed now which causes him to get caught more. I thought there were signs of tiredness in the 4th round that we just didn't see in the 24 yr old Ortiz.
Very good, Ortiz made his uncomfortable and Floyd was adjusting as usual. His intelligent aggression coupled with Ortiz's reckless aggression made a great fight. I wish it didn't have to end so early.
I agree I wish this fight would've at least gone 10 rounds to see if Mayweather's endurance hasn't been affected by age or rust
Mayweather looked good and you can see he has a very high skill level. Ortiz though was not as good as he was being hyped up to be. Just rewatch his fights against Peterson and Cambell againand then tell me how great this win really is.
Exactly. I wonderwhat ortiz' stragety was.
He just charged in with wide hooks (leaving himself open for a check left repeatedly)
then he walked back leaving himself open for the straight right.
Mayweather dominated things...
Unfortunately the win is tainted with the ending...more specifically with Mayweather not diverting the controversy to the referee...but there are a million threads on that already.
Floyd looked good, though. You could see that barring a lucky shot or two from ortiz, a knockout was inevitable in about 3 rounds.
Agreed. I was impressed at how well Mayweather looked in his first fight in 16 months at 34. I couldn't stand it when Mayweather was popping Ortiz with stright rights throughout and quick counters with left and right, Emmanuel was the only one giving Floyd props. The other's (Merchant and Lampley) weren't saying anything. Than, when Ortiz got him on the ropes for about 10 seconds a couple times, they would go crazy and yell, "And Victor Ortiz has Mayweather on the ropes, pounding away at him". Only problem was that when Ortiz had Myweather on the ropes, he wasn't landing crap.
I am that much more excited to see Mayweather-Pacquiao, giving the fact that Mayweather was clearly out classing Ortiz, probably the best opponent of his since Hatton, and probably a better option of opponent than anyone Pacquiao's fought since Marquez in 2008. Sorry, Cotto wasn't the same. Ortiz a young, fast, southpaw, coming off big wins. It wasa solid choice for opponent. I am only upset it ended the way it did, because Floyd doesn't usually start beating down his opponents until after 4 rounds or so. I think it probably would have gotten ugly. If not for the 4th round KO, i saw Mayweather winning a wide UD, or a late stoppage in the 10th or 11th easily. Ortiz was starting to swell up at that point, and Mayweather hadn't even started to really open up on him.

he looked great in there especially since he was out of the ring for like i think 16 months. i was especially surprised when he threw like a quick 4 or 5 punch combination in the 3rd round..i haven't seen him do that in a while.
Mayweather didn't show any ring rust, His timing was crisp and the strategy and execution was perfect. He established the right hand the 1st few rounds while He timed Ortiz, then started to establish is left hook and his jab. If Ortiz would of continue fighting, I have no doubts that Mayweather would of continue timing Ortiz and looking better round after round. I don't think there's any welterweight that can beat him right now.
He looked sharp, the jab was there even impressed by landing some combinations which he's not really know for. It was a boxing masterclass wished it wouldn't have ended the way it did so I could have seen some more.
Your not going to beat Mayweather with size and power at WW.
Pacquiao is the only man who can defeat him, everyone else is just going to get picked apart.
