Mayweather was the later.
We already know a long time ago Floyd has it both. He is a cheater and classless. He used his elbow against Hatton, Mosley and so he did to Ortiz. No wonder Ortiz retaliated and headbutted Floyd.
it's mayweather man. "who's got the most haters?"
Funny thing is, I'm not even a Mayweather fan! I would actually love to see someone snatch that zero! lol But the truth is the truth, and nothing I, nor anyone else, can change that. "Denial" isn't a river in Egypt....
A fight is a fight. As long as you're acting within the rules, it's all fair. I'm at a loss as to why some of the people on this site can't understand this concept. Your thread title says it all.

not in my ring, it would never happen like that. As far as I'm concerned, until a bell rings or a referee pulls me off of him there will be punches fired.
what if the opponent is faking, you concede and he drops a bomb on your chin........Rockin':boxing:

ortiz getting the 1-2 from floyd WAS what made vic's attempts at apologizing STUPID...
had floyd not thrown those 1-2 and the fight continued - other than what happened after those 1-2 gift from floyd - regardless of who wins..there would have been no controversy..
vic did become so overly apologetic for his fouls...
and for whatever reason, forgot to protect himself...
floyd did not forget why he was in there, and got the win..
Perfect, my friend...perfect. Green K.
The crowd was booing.
International journalists are calling Floyd the most hated athelte on the planet.
Pacquiao is waiting, hungry---offended by Floyd, ready to kill.
Mayweather- right now he's in a trist with 50, ellerbe, and hayman...each one is wearing a title belt and covered in vaseline....stacks of cash piled on a table filled with coke and booze.
There was no cheating involved. It was stupid on Ortiz part, and classless on Floyd's part.

Classlessness is Cheating.
List of Fouls as defined by the NSAC:
"14. Engaging in any unsportsmanlike trick or action which causes injury to an opponent."
I'm not familiar with the NSAC rules; but looking at what you wrote, Mayweather wasn't in violation of the spirit of the rule. What was he supposed to do, plead with Victor to put his hands up? "Hey, I'm about to groove you with a left hook, followed by a straight right!"
In my view, the rule you're referencing is a catch-all that covers things along the lines of tripping, spitting, elbowing, biting, etc.

What most people are missing is that the fans didn't get what they deserved. The ending was a huge anti-climax. The fans wanted to see Floyd get a knock-out due to his skills, not due to Ortiz looking at the referee with his hands by his waist, clearly thinking that the time-out was still in force. The point isn't whether Ortiz got what he deserved, it's whether the fans did. They didn't. And Floyd had the skills to get a highlight reel knock-out - he had no need to resort getting one by to hitting a man who was looking at the referee and wasn't defending himself.
The way the fight ended was bad for boxing.
i agree with you
like i said, Floyd's too good to resort to some kind of cheap shot when he can put a boxing clinic all night against Ortiz
my beef is that us boxing fans were robbed of what could've been a decent good fight

Let me start by saying that I'm not a fan of either guy, but that I was kind of pulling for Victor. Like you, I was disappointed by the ending. It was just bizarre....like I was watching professional wrestling. However, I don't entirely blame Mayweather for doing what he did. It was legal, however "un-sportsmanlike" it may have been.
Lastly, anything can happen in a fight; added to that, Floyd was in against a live dog. What Mayweather did was take advantage of the colossal stupidity of his opponent. He secured his victory in the safest possible terms and insured himself against any possible injury or resistance. Mayweather's first responsibility is to himself, not the fans.
Pretty much says it all....
I'll add my two cents: Prior to this fight I referred to Victor as being rather "simple"...a space cadet. His actions during this fight only reinforce my impressions. Ortiz committed an inexplicable and blatant foul, then compounded his stupidity by forgetting he was in a championship fight. How does one go from all-out war, with a spearing head-butt, to kissing his opponent and oozing apologies? Vic seems like a nice kid, and I wasn't crazy about the way things went down, but he got what he deserved.

the act was not classless on Floyds part, it was more an act of stupidity on the part of Ortiz.
I was trained to hit as soon as the bell rang to begin a round. If the guy puts his glove out to touch I will decline the invitation an put a right hand over on him. Pure and simple, it is a fight. The only time it is not a fight is between rest bells and when the ref calls break or stop. The man said go, motioned them to fight and Floyd knocked him out. It's a fight, it's not a game and it is not to see who the biggest gentleman can be on that night. The man who is left standing or the man who pounded out more punishment wins, regardless if it was an act of being a gentleman or not. You can be friends when it's over but for the time being it was time to fight. Floyd lost no class in my eyes over the happenings of this fight but rather solidified the thought that it was the act of cagey veteran who knows the game inside and out............Rockin':boxing:
