Personally i`d like to se him in the ring with Cotto, Williams and "loaded" Margarito :) But no... Margarito is the type of fighters who would fit good to Floyd`s style...
I think Cotto, Williams at WW and probably Pacman in lower weight classes could handle him...
Ali would outbox him
I doubt, but there is another option... Vitali is very vulnerable to cuts, and Ali was very good at cutting his opponents... If they fought I think that one of the most probable outcomes could be Ali by TKO due to cuts... But there would be no domination of Ali, or he probably would have been trailing on the cards...
No he isn`t...
He had a great influence on boxing. His PPV numbers talk themselves. But he isn`t TOP or even TOP 20 of last couple of decades.
He had a great competition and his record is impressive... But he had lost MANY of very important fights, and in terms of class... Well IMO he just lacks that...
So, he is a great fighter and promoter of boxing, but not a great boxer/champ.
It doesn't work like that in the lower weight classes, so what makes the Heavyweight division any different?
Haye was the undisputed Cruiserweight champion and moved up and got a title shot straight away. It happens all the time in the lower weight classes.
Many fighters over 200 prefer to dry themselves and fight in CW than in HW...
Maybe because the difference in weight between CW and HW is much bigger than between any lower weight categories...
Maybe for this reason Holyfield became the only Cruiserweight who managed to fight in HWs on the top level...
It happens very often in the lower classes and the outcome is often difficult to predict cause the difference is not so big... It happens pretty often that CW come up to HW and the outcome is usually easy to predict, cause the difference in weight is enormous...
David Haye would destroy most on the list that you produced, Tony Thompson fought Klitchsko as if he had no will to win, as if he had no heart. David Haye is a real fighter who would have destroyed the tony thompson who climbed ion the ring to fight wlad just for his paycheck.
Yeh, and he was eating those right straights for 11 rounds just for the paychek :) No will at all...
Thread:
Sultan Ibragimov
Chris Byrd
Hasim Rahman (he would be enough :) )
Lamon Brewster
Worse then Haye in resume but would give him a good fight:
Calvin Brock
Ray Austin
Tony Thompson
Jameel McCline (n the beginning of 2000s, when he wasn`t "lose to anybody" yet)
Ray Mercer (Yes, that old...)
I would join those who say: "It could be much better"...
He had money fights, he had easy fights, he had fights with good fighters, but there were few good champions...
He had few tough fights, not because he was so good, but because the opposition wasn`t the best...
He did what he had to do: he was winning, coming up and winning again, but the point is he could do it the other way...
I`d say: very good!
At least he is not the guy, who is running from somebody... He is the guy who went through God knows how many divisions... He had lost couple times but managed to come back... His opposition is pretty strong (though some smarties would say he had only fought old, washed up fighters)... At last he is a 4-division champion and p4p #1...
So i would say again, his resume is very good, and he is future "Hall of Famer"
I`ve never seen Wlad so angry...
Somebody is going to die on the June 20th...
It is not going to be a boxing match...
If the promotion of the fight keeps going this way...
On the 20th of June we will see the "War"...
In the best Marvin Hagler- Thomas Hearns way...
Valuev will now enter the rankings of the WBC, IBF, and WBO.
So there's a better chance he'll fight a Klitschko, who would become the first to fell the giant!
I thought the same! It would be a big fight in either Russia/Ukraine (Donbass Arena - i would go there) or Germany!
I don`t think Cotto has lost the fight.
And i havent seen Diaz/Paulie.
I just heard about some ridiculous scorecards in all of them...
What about Dirrel/Froch?
I don't think that was Haye's best punch. The left has never been his power hand and the punch didn't connect very solidly, Valuev simply didn't see it coming. If he doesn't see Wladimir right coming, we might see the giant fall.
I always thought that theoretically Wladimir is among few in history who could actually KO Valuev.
Valuev was hurt by Haye, but lets not forget that Niko is already 36! And he is a giant, which means his legs are spoiling much faster...
If he fights Wlad (or even Vit (which i doubt)) in 2010, the KO is a very probable result!
I think I can get some more red for this, but...
After what happened before the Mosley fight, it is quite "obvious" for me that Margarito used some illegal things in his gloves in the Cotto fight. Of course I cannot be sure, but it was weird, how Marg (never a big puncher) destroyed Cottos` face in some two rounds (I mean he was really landing some power shots in just two of the 11 rounds). Now take to consideration that Cotto always engaged in wars in his previous fights, but I don`t remember any time, when his face was such a mess...
I know that many people here consider Kermit Cintron a certified cry-baby... But, he said that he had never been hit before like in the II Marg fight... Marg "bulldozered" Cintron in that fight in some 6 rounds. So I think Marg could have cheated in that fight also...
And one more thing... In his comeback fight he was landing shots all night on the head of Garcia, but Garcias` didn`t look like it was going to fell apart...
Thats` probably the only thing I don`t like about Mayweather. I wouldn`t call him a coward, but he definitely has the problem of facing tough competition...
And it`s a shame, cause he had a great resume when he fought at jr. lightweight, but after he moved up...
Oh, if he fought Casamayor, Tdzyu, Cotto, Margarito, Williams... God damn at least if he fought Berto... He would lose one or two against those guys, but what resume would that be...
His arguably best opponent within the last 5 years is the 38 year old guy, after almost a 1,5-year layoff... And his best fighter on the resume is the 37-year old blown-up super featherweight (or a getting-old ODLH)...
Right now he says he isn`t interested in fighting Pacquaio... Damn, which boxer isn`t interested in fighting, while his career is still on... What is he waiting for? Maybe for Pacquaio to go through some more wars and get shot?
Floyd is a great fighter... The problem is that he had the talent to become even more greater, and he chose not to...
Southpaw stance, constant pressure - that`s the tools you need to beat Mayweather. Iron chin and incredible endurance - that what will keep Williams in the fight for the whole 12 rounds. I don`t bring up the reach advantage as Williams doesn`t fight "tall". Williams by decision... If that ever happened.
then how come hes given all southpaws some of the worst beatings in his resume?
First reason - Floyd is a great boxer.
Second - the only good southpaw he fought was Judah, who managed to knock Floyd down, but then gassed out as usual...
It is not only about southpaw stance. The combination of Williams` qualities is a nightmare for Floyd. Judah just shown that Floyd doesn`t deal great with lefties. Would you consider Judah more difficult fighter at 140 than P.Will?
Listen, I`m neither a fan of P.Will nor a hater. I think guy is about to leave the ring with some brain damage after he faces a 160-168 lbs puncher. But the qualities he had at 147 should`ve been enough to beat Floyd... If they ever fought.
I wonder, can Cotto really win a decision? I mean, we all know Arum is trying to get him out of the way, and even though he will be in a similar position to the Foreman fight, Chavez has greater star potential. It wouldn't surprise me if Arum payed off the judges, or if the judges themselves screwed Cotto over assuming the fight happens in either Vegas or Dallas.
+1 If the fight goes the distance expect Chavez to become a "star" as his papa did... (at least the elder Chavez fought some paper champs and Meldrick Taylor)
Cotto should do his old good body-punching...
I`ve told it many times... Sauerland has options for HAye`s next three fights... Haye would be stupid to fight one of the Klitschkos within those three... He would also be stupid to drop the belt, as that would leave him without a trump card in negotiations...
Calzaghe would've been eating fists all night. terrible style matchup for him.
On another note, I'd say Bob Foster would've put Jones to sleep at 175. I'd pick Spinks over him as well.
+1 except for the spinks... Foster had a big punchers` chance, but that`s it...
Dariusz was the lineal champ, all of Roy's glittering belts were aquired without fighting "the man" Michalczewski.
You make it sound like DM was the paper champ, other way around. 1 title would have ensured that Roy had to go through DM and we would have got that fight.
Oh, i have simply forgotten about the great WBO lightheavyweight lineage of the last 10-15 years...
That`s the case when lineage means almost nothing... You say that DM was the man at that time, I think - RJJ. I don`t mean that DM was a "paper champ", but the truth is that if DM wasn`t a WBO champ, but a mandatory to one of RJJ`s belts the fight could possibly take place...
I don`t blame DM for this fight not happening... RJJ and DM (and his promoter...) are both equally guilty...
Yeah right... The only middleweight fight that could matter was AA/Pavlik, and it didn`t happen, thanks to promoters... Pavlik/Martinez is THE ONLY middleweight fight for a moment, after it happens there is nothing to look forward to in this division... And somebody says the HW division is dead...
P.S. 1000!!!
to paraphrase:
garcia: "better hope floyd is rusty"
perez: "jmm has an official victory over mab, so jmm is smarter than pbf"
morales: "i hope jmm wins so I can fight him later"
rafael: "that's my bro, of course i'm gonna say he wins, are you stupid or something?!"
I hope you have interpreted the article in a right way, cause i didn`t want to read that "objective" analysis from the Mexican fighters about Mexican fighters :)
How can someone pull for the shit talker? Just proves what kind of person you are.
I usually don`t appreciate trash-talking (sometimes i do:) ); i`ve seen some Valuev`s interviews and i should say he seems to be a very smart, humble guy! But, in boxing we don`t cheer for personalities (usually)... And i find Valuev a disgrace to a proud (once ago probably) title of a "Champion of the World"... I think he is decent boxer and managed to get this far only due to his size... I find Haye pretty exciting to watch (when such a rare occasion happens) and i would deffinitely like him to fight the tops at HW or come back to CW and clean it out...
P.S. But i have already told myself that i`m pretty much ready to drop him off my favorites list. Reason: he spends his prime for T-shirt designing instead of giving us fights...
It is horrible!
Why should parents bury their children?
Why should Mike`s child pay for what he had done?
Why should Mike (although he is not a good person) go through this during all his life?
R.I.P. little child...
I have always found Mike more than a famous boxer... I always considered him like a message to the mankind... Why people do not live in a different way? Why don`t they change? We see everyday that somebody will pay for our mistakes... It will be we or our family... But nothing will be left unnoticed and unforgotten...
