Calzaghe would've been eating fists all night. terrible style matchup for him.
On another note, I'd say Bob Foster would've put Jones to sleep at 175. I'd pick Spinks over him as well.
+1 except for the spinks... Foster had a big punchers` chance, but that`s it...

Calzaghe beats no version of prime Jones. Its a terrible matchup for Calzaghe
power: Jones
handspeed: Jones
footspeed:Jones
Intangibles: equal
Skill set: equal?
saad muhammad, mustafa muhammad and muhammad qawi
It took me a second to realize what you meant, lol
my choice:
Prime Byrant Brannon
He was weight drained when he first fought Jones as well
because there was nothing new to me there.
And it is a bad thing to say : it is Toney's fault he was fat .
Well , it is Toney's fault he was fat , but it was still the reason to why Jones picked him (agreed to fight him) and to why he won.
And then he looked for excuses to why not give him a rematch which he eventually did avoid.
Jones' career is cherrypicking at its worst.
The art of strategical ducking .
You are so wrong its a joke. First of all Toney wantedd to fight Jones way more then Jone's wanted to fight Toney. and Toney was supposed to have a rematch with him if he got through Montel Griffin which he didn't even though I thought he won, whichi is why he got the griffin rematch cause people wanted to see Toney Jones 2 but again he lost even thought again I thought he didn't. Sounds like your a Roy hater. By the way and Toney is my 2nd favorite fighter of all time.
Ezzard Charles might have had a good chance at 175 (I'd put it at 50/50 odds). At 168, I would make every fighter in history an underdog against Roy Jones (prime).
I'm not saying Dariusz would've won,but he would have given Jones more problems than any other fighter Roy fought at 175 (pre-Ruiz of course)
I think Dariusz was the most qualified but wouldn't have given him the most trouble. Dariusz was aggressive but slow. Not a good fit.
Dariusz wouldn't have won a round IMO. He plodded way too much to trouble Jones.

I'd say Michael Spinks and Bob Foster.
Qawi would've take him hell and back (so would've DM also and it's a shame that fight never happened)

Toney moved up cause he couldn't make 175 anymore which was the reason for him losing his IBO LHW belt on the scales and then losing in the ring also (although it was a very close fight which could easily been ruled as a draw , not that I consider it a robbery). It just helps to explain how hard it was for him to maintain the even lower weights (Toney was an over 200lbs football quarterback in high school).
Toney in no way , I repeat , in no way ducked Jones , he craved for that rematch his entire career.
Lennox Lewis and Wladimir Klitschko decisively lost in their prime.
Hill showed his worth when he was previously outpointed by a former suspect chinned welterweight in Thomas Hearns.
a welterweight bigger than him that went on to win a CW title?
next your gonna tell me leonard sucks cuz he was outpointed for 12 by a suspect chinned hearns
why the blind hate?
so toney could'nt make 175 neither? so if the fight were to happen again at 175, we'd have the same issue, a dumbass james toney that could'nt make weight?
did toney want roy to follow him up to heavyweight? toney definitely would get his ass beat then, you think he was beat soundly before at the lower weights where he had the footspeed? what the hell is he gonna do with no legs, less stamina, slower and outta shape in general? nothin, just get owned even worse
if toney wanted a rematch he would'nt have moved up in weight just when jones arrived at 175
and that griffin excuse is so terrible, if only i could be bothered reviving the thread "has any fighter lost in their prime?" because apperently, no one has, everyone has a fukkin excuse
what about virgil hill? cherry picked him huh? not because he was one of the top dogs, but because he was in a vulnerable position right?
because there was nothing new to me there.

Yes that was one of the posts in that thread. Read the others.

what was the point of rematching toney? he did nothin to warrant a rematch, at all, lose to griffin at lightheavy? was that what warranted a rematch?
