Haye was supposed to knock out the Russian whale, but he didn't want to stand and trade. I was expecting Haye to come out and swarm over Valuev, but he never had the balls to back up his trash. He was drilled to survive twelve rounds and rely on judges cards, and no way - unless the fight was fixed - could he have been sure he'd won that fight. Sky's main commenatator gave the fight to Valuev by two rounds!:fing02: What I'm saying is Valuev comes out of the fight with credit: he came forward the entire fight and threw punches, and took everything Haye could throw; and even when he was wobbled at the end, he still came forward and Haye again backed off and wouldn't risk himself. The betting was well in favour of Haye, but all he managed was a majority verdict. Now he's talking Vitaly Klitschko :wtf: I have to assume this is a Frank Bruno suicide mission/grab the ppv ala Tyson in 96. Either that or Haye has mental issues ala Bruno. No way at this moment is Haye up to fighting Vitaly Klitschko. For me, Valuev is the moral winner as he was trash talked and betted heavily against, but came to the ring to fight, not run away.
Valuev's stock is in the same place it was at... 0. Haye's stock went down in my eyes, congrats you won a MD against a man who can't box by running around the ring and engaging once every 5 rounds, If Haye was such a great boxer in my mind he should have had no problem widening this decision.. I love defensive fights but this fight was ridiculous Haye did about three rotations around the ring before he threw a punch at times. Needless to say Valuev didn't appear to have learned how to cut the ring off as he let Haye do it so it's his fault he lost.

You obviously didn't see the bookmakers odds the day of the fight? Huge money came in for Valuev and he was actually the favourite going into the fight.
I had haye winning by four rounds and i cant uderstand why the sky commentators had valuev winning it but sometimes people see things differently.
I would still like to see valuev fight wladamir though to see how he handles being the smaller man for a change.
I don't think that was Haye's best punch. The left has never been his power hand and the punch didn't connect very solidly, Valuev simply didn't see it coming. If he doesn't see Wladimir right coming, we might see the giant fall.
I always thought that theoretically Wladimir is among few in history who could actually KO Valuev.
Valuev was hurt by Haye, but lets not forget that Niko is already 36! And he is a giant, which means his legs are spoiling much faster...
If he fights Wlad (or even Vit (which i doubt)) in 2010, the KO is a very probable result!
He took Haye's best possible punch and was wobbled for two seconds before fully recovering. That's maybe a positive for Valuev.

Valuev has probably improved his stock from the absolute nothing it was after the Holyfield fight and the Chagaev rematch not happening. Still, the little dance that he did in the 12th and final round has me and probably others as well thinking that he'll be a spectacular KO victim if he ever steps up against the Klitschko brothers.
Perhaps it is best to retire and I believe he has already stated that he will. Not a bad fight to retire on because he wasn't humiliated by any means.

I thought the same! It would be a big fight in either Russia/Ukraine (Donbass Arena - i would go there) or Germany!
Valuev is still a fighter that nobody has KO'd or floored. And he'll have a rematch clause that means he'll very likely be paid to step aside for Haye Vitaly. I'd suspect that part of that deal could be a Wlad vs Valuev fight. Valuev can legitemately argue he won the fight with Haye over the piece.

Valuev will now enter the rankings of the WBC, IBF, and WBO.
So there's a better chance he'll fight a Klitschko, who would become the first to fell the giant!

Valuev is an ogre man. I couldn't watch 3 minutes of that fight.
They should use his fights as corporal punishment for criminals in some countries, truthfully.
I'm not a big Haye fan at all, but I'd much rather see him than Valuev any day of the week. If people think Valuev got robbed, this is this case where I'd actually say "Good".
No way was Valuev robbed, I agree, but nobody would have been surprised if Valuev had got the nod - that was my point. I initially thought Valuev won the fight, partly because of Dirrell Froch and I didn't think Haye was any better than Dirrell in that previous fight.
And so what that Haye was giving away height and weight. Tyson never fought like that to my knowledge, he came straight ahead. Haye was selling himself as an exciting fighter like Tyson - not a hit and run merchant. I have to assume that if he ever fights either Klit we'll see the same ring chase, and we'll hear the excuse that he was smaller than Vit or Vlad.
217 pounds vs 316 pounds, nearly 100 pounds difference. WTF did you expect, Haye to stand and trade with him? Wasn't the best Haye performance offensively but he did hurt his hand and NO MATTER WHAT, he wrote boxing history as the first man to defeat an opponent giving up almot 100 pounds!!!! This is HUGE, you can't say Haye has no balls with a straight face.
chageav did it too giving up 90lbs wheres his props so hows it a 1st ... i rally dont believe haye hurt his hand .... in the post presser it had alittle tape and he was shaking people hands with it and giving high 5s etc ...

I agree. Valuev had already hit rock bottom when he did absolutely nothing to Evander last December and still got the robbery.
So Nikolay had nowhere to go but up at that point.
It's true, the Holyfield fight was a bad night for Valuev. But after Haye I think Valuev's stock is improved. Nobody would have blinked an eye if he (Valuev) had got the decision and all this Haye vs Vitaly talk would be non existent. It does sound like Haye is grabbing the money like Bruno is 96, Haye can't afford to lose his title to a Chambers or Arreola etc.. for £5m when the Vitaly fight would gross £50m. Ruiz is a necesarry contractual warm up, and I've no doubt that Valuev will step aside and fight the winner of Haye Vitaly in 2010. Don King will need paid off of course.
