Floyd Mayweather Jr Vs Pernell Whitaker

A very close stinker... A 50-50 fight...

I'm would say Sweet Pea, based on two things. 1. I'm a Pernell fan. 2. Punches in bunches.

Id take mayweather here... dunno y its so hard to predict but mayweather is the bigger stronger man

I think it would be a boring ass fight. But it could go either way. Whoever wins get a SD.

flip a coin? sweet pea was better. proved it against much better opposition too. only thing floyd has on pea is a bit more pop and being bigger.

man---like i've said a thouusand tiimes before---floyd is too good for pernell because floyd's overall speed and defense is better than sweet peas-------floyd is a much better counterpuncher and blocker than pernell----people get sweet pea twisted sometimes----he is a dynamic fighter---floyd is too complex a fighter for pernell-----floyd has more power-----fights better off of the ropes and has better balance than pernell and that's saying a lot because pernell is a great defensive fighter when it comes to ducking punches, but pernell tended to get too unorthodox for his own good-----floyd is a better balanced fighter and better inside fighter, and pea was amazing when it came to body punching, but floyd is the stronger fighter with better discipline on the inside when it came to overall defense, and i don't care who doesn't like this claim------floyd has the better distance when it comes to skill----he knows his distance better than pea did----floyd would beat pea and it wouldn't be as close as you people think---trust me----- pea avoided punches better by dodging them but he got sloppy and lazy at times---and against floyd, who is a master sharp shooter, much more precise a puncher than pea was, that would be suicide for pernell, and sweet pea was a monster---he fought everybody, but his dominance against the top competition was nothing compared to floyd's dominance----floyd was more dominant, because he was better disciplined than pernall----and still is--- Couldn't have set it better. Floyd is far more disciplined and conditioned. I actually asked Floyd about this fight and he laughed. He said that's a great question caused Sweet Pea is a great fighter and I'd have to bring my A-Game to beat him

I think a lot of the people that are picking Floyd and saying he's better defensively and faster are younger fans, that are on the Floyd bandwagon and never actually saw Pernell fight as it was happening. I on the other hand have had the oppurtunity to watch both fighters in there prime and Pernell was like nothing I have ever seen defensively. For the record I was never a Pernell fan, but the man was on a whole other level and Floyd wasn't on Pernell's level.

Close early but Whitaker being southpaw gives Floyd problems and as the fight goes on Whitaker figures him out and cruises in the late rounds to a decisoion. Whitaker frustrates Floyd. thats the problem, present fighters dont get the credit past fighters get. floyd is better than sweet pea defensively and is much stronger. sweetpea was a master of defense but he would get hit every now and then. floyd will make you look like a fool in the ring I never saw Whitaker get hit like floyd did against and older Mosley or like he did against Judah. I was always a DelaHoya fan and I watched that fight when it happened and I have the fight still today, and he didn't even get hit like that against a prime DeLaHoya or a prime Trinidad for that matter.

He would beat Floyd the same way he defeated Floyd's uncle, Roger Mayweather. Just kidding, but Whitaker would win.

Pernell wins at 135...loses at 147... Either guy could win at any weight...this thread gets made all the time...

I like Whitaker at 135, but Mayweather at 140+.
