People in general not excluding Boxers are basically the same all over the world with the exception of cultural history and language. The internet and it's "real time" timeline has opened many doors visually and one can now see how many people around the world live and interact on a daily basis. In Eastern Europe the fighting training is quite different than in America and many of the Western Regions. You might be hard pressed to find a speed bag or a double end bag but thats not saying they don't exist just that they can be a rare fixture in a Boxing Gym. They rely very heavily on Strength and Conditioning and HEAVY discipline. One thing is for sure - they don't play games while training. The Trainers are VERY strict and DEMAND complete attention at all times both during and out of training. That being said it might be one of a few reasons why they are less inclined to carry on with pre- fight hype antics like running their mouth & flashing $$$...can't say they don't chase the ladies because it's a fact that some of the most beautiful women are from that part of the world. One thing is for sure and that's that they LOVE the Western Style of fighting and more and more Eastern European & Russian fighters are making their way to the American shores especially LA to train, find promoters and hopefully build some credibility and gain a reputation. In general they are good people with good family values, strong character and honorable tradition but as in all cultures and countries there is both good and bad.
Interesting thread and thanks to the Moderator of Boxing Scene for starting it. :)
I love Kahn's fighting ability and style but i hate it when he runs his mouth. I am really hoping for a Kahn comeback and would love to see him fight Brook.
I would pick Amir in this fight.
Khan has fast hand and ok power I don't know where there is evidence of power you t, alk about his power is limited. Khan has fast hands but anytime he fights someone who is 5'9 upwards he loses because he can't get abck to avoid the counter punch- all Khan's victories are fighters 5'8 down, his losses Prescott 5'11, Petersen 5'10 and Garcia 5'9.
I don't know what fight you watching as Garcia stops Khan in the 4th where is the middle to late rounds in this fight - did you actually watch the fight as Gracia broke the little punch resistance Khan had and there was'nt much.
I get confused by A&O's posts. He made reference to what he considered Pac's weakness in another post. Seems like he watches completely different fights than anyone else. Strange but i am curious to hear him out regardless.
I might be stretching here but I get the feeling that a FMM vs. Pac deal for 2014 will be made in late December. Call it wishful thinking but I'm optimistic.
Thoughts? Opinions?
I don't think Amir has a glass jaw; his timings sometimes off and he walks into punches which would knock most people out- he was smashing Garcia up until he got caught and the Peterson fight was a disgrace.
he does have the skillset to make and interesting fight with Mayweather, he probably wouldn't win, cant see who else is out there- maybe Mayweather Bradley makes the most sense...
I agree with your opinion but i would not say he was smashing Garcia. I have SLAMMED Kahn in the past mostly because of his rants which make him look foolish but in truth he is a great fighter who tends to get too aggressive with BIG punchers like Peterson and he has paid a heavy price for it. If he trains hard and LISTENS...i repeat LISTENS to his trainer then he just might bring an entertaining show to the boxing world if and when he faces Mayweather. Winning the fight is a whole different movie. A Kahn (W) is doubtful.
Lol same here. I don't think I'd log on for a week or so.
The crappy thing about this fight for GGG is anything less than complete destruction and the sh1t talkers are gonna go hard full force.
Agreed, but these sh1t talkers have already been exposed so smart and credible readers/posters will ignore them anyway. BTW-does this site offer an "ignore feature"? It's needed. :)
I first heard of GGG when Max Kellerman was waxing orgasmic about him. So I decided to watch the Macklin fight. What I saw was not so much a boxer, as an incendiary device.
Macklin was plainly and simply manhandled. He had a look on his face akin to a man being caught trying on his wife's clothes. What the look, and the reaction of the man seemed to say was "How the **** do I get out of this"!!! Golovkin appears to be special.
Very true and sadly some serious boxing fans just can't seem to see the obvious which is most likely because they don't want to see it. I mean come on...it's all right smack dab in your face...the power, articulation, precision and placement of the punches etc. The guys is a VERY well trained boxing wrecking ball. The funny thing is that if you do show support as a Boxing fan of GGG's talent and obvious skill level you are called a fanboy. The believers and supporters are just stating the obvious but as usual "haters hate what they can't have and who they can't be".
Fight Call : GGG get's him outta there within 6 or less. KO or TKO.
I don't want to get analytical or philosophic here but Andre Ward is one of the best fighters in the game today. He doesn't duck, i seriously doubt that he dope's (i'm curious why people think that - he certainly does not give the physical impression that he does) and he always exudes a sense of class when he's interviewed. You can't be everything in life including a great boxer and a great entertainer at the same time but I still support him and respect him just the same.
FMM vs. GGG = moot point! So why even bother discussing it?
There is only one fighter today that has a remote chance of beating Floyd and that is Manny. That's the fight we should ALL be obsessing about. That is the fight that SHOULD be made. :boxing:

Wow, Kahn's manager has a trust worthy and valid gripe??? All this whining and complaining coming from the same ethnic people that gave Bin Laden safe haven in their home country of Pakistan for many many years not to mention how they continually try to position and manipulate the United States of America??? Yeah Right!
Isn't that just like calling the Kettle Black? :fing26:
Brilliant display of pugilism by Manny tonight. I really would have loved to see him put Rios on his azz but the humility he put forth coupled with proving Rios to be nothing more than an inferior toy punching bag will deliver more insult and injury to the entire Garcia camp...Rios, Robert and Ariza. Congrats to Manny and especially to Freddie. They got exactly what they had coming....Rios got exposed, schooled and spanked :spank: Garcia eats his words whole and Ariza cringes with embarrassment. In short.....THEY LOST! Can't wait to hear the lame justifying comments that come out of their camp in the next few days. Should make for some good comedy.
I saw some hesitation in Pac tonight which I think is a good thing, he didn't go for the kill and instead opted to keep boxing. Great work tonight, I think 2 more fights for Pac and hang it up...Bradley rematch and we all know the last one and it's not Marquez.
Agreed. I think PAC was having fun and giving the fans what they wanted ...a good show. He was also smart in keeping Rios alive at his own will because he was better able to showcase his overall skills which obviously never went away. I believe he proved more by going the full 12 as knocking out a punching bag would have proved little except satisfying the blood thirsty fans that wanted to see Rios destroyed.
why would floyd get a 90-10 split? i thought numbers don't lie? pac still generates great numbers so isn't that all that matters? when pac was at the top of the division numbers were all that mattered and that was why floyd couldn't fight pac so why does he have to prove himself now? also victor ortiz and robert guerrero lol.[/QUOT
90-10 split is preposterous. PAC believe it or not is a bigger draw. They both would sell huge numbers but I'd give PAC the edge on overall sales. This fight would easily be the biggest fight of the last 20-25 years. Make it happen!!!
I am saddened by what i am reading here. No doubt Manny put on an inspired performance, but when does beating Rios helps Manny's case against Floyd? This fight tonight does nothing but proves where Rios really belong. Manny was sparring and having fun and that was good to see, but c'mon, if Manny were able to beat Floyd at any time, this fight doesn't change that, and if he weren't able to beat Floyd at any time, then this fight still doesn't change that.
Manny's problem was never a Rios's type fighter, however, his problem has always been a Bradley/Marquez/Mayweather type of fighters. Fighters who are highly technical.
100000% correct!
manny pacquiao looked like crap against a guy like rios that blocks punches with his face. what we saw was expected. i see why he does'nt want to rematch marquez. he says he does, but his heart says no. pacquiao did'nt even look good in a cherry picked fight. marquez and mayweather will kill him.
Flint - we get it. You hate PAC. Please give it a rest for awhile. I'm sure you have better and more productive things to do as well.
Thanks!
I think FLoyd is on vacation with FLINT...where??? MOON:fest30:
Hopefully the trolls and other antagonists that were saying that Rios had a great shot and Rios this and that will stay silent for a while. Their posting just takes up space and my eyes hurt from rolling after I read them. Today their butts are very sore. :spank:
This fight if anything is to restore the confidence in Manny's fanbase (obvious in this forum) and also restore confidence in his sponsors. This fight was to us who knows the sport has always been a farce. I don't subscribe to the notion Pac is done just because he got KO. Pac has yet to face his real threat, and despite what anyone says, he did struggled with Bradley, and that's why he wasn't able to get the decision.
I would love to see a Mayweather fight, but i want more intrigue....meaning, i want to see him (Manny) convincingly beating Bradley/Marquez, and then say, yes Mayweather does have a challenge. A Boxer like Pac who rarely throws a jab, lounges in, is setting himself up real bad to be countered by technical fighters. As i said, Pac did what he and his team set out to do tonight and that was to win back the confidence in his fanbase and sponsors, and from the discussion here, i know they have accomplished that.
I truly believe that Arum will make the Money vs. PAC fight a reality even more with the result and way this win went down. Hopefully we will hear an announcement by this years end for a late 2014 Fight. The fans need to be heard to help the cause. :boxing:
