Seems you never see or hear of them behaving thuggish or rude. I wonder why this is the case? Is it a cultural thing and that they were brought up by their parents to respect other people and show general courtesy? Boxers rarely had this nice guy image before more Eastern Europeans / Russians began appearing on the pro boxing stage.
Yes compared to top White American fighers like .....um...... oh yea... there are none LAWL!
As bad as this comment seems... i cant wholly disagree lmao.
But yeah like someone said, we dont always know how theyre perceived in their country. There's also some culture differences I'm sure but... A lot of these guys have zero charisma and are just genuinely your classic humble guy who is barely now making the money needed to fight full time. There's "good and bad" everywhere.
Maybe there's a media aspect to it. Most boxers aren't actually the ego-obsessed personalities they pretend to be in the media. Some are, but they're also actively encouraged by the media to talk trash to raise their profile. In the US a talented but boring boxer often gets overlooked until they do something nobody can ignore.
Former-communist states didn't have the same kind of pressure for many years. When you fight on state-owned media you don't need to talk trash to raise your profile, you just need to be talented and well connected. Those days are 20+ years in the past now, but it has a legacy on guys that are still fighting.
People in general not excluding Boxers are basically the same all over the world with the exception of cultural history and language. The internet and it's "real time" timeline has opened many doors visually and one can now see how many people around the world live and interact on a daily basis. In Eastern Europe the fighting training is quite different than in America and many of the Western Regions. You might be hard pressed to find a speed bag or a double end bag but thats not saying they don't exist just that they can be a rare fixture in a Boxing Gym. They rely very heavily on Strength and Conditioning and HEAVY discipline. One thing is for sure - they don't play games while training. The Trainers are VERY strict and DEMAND complete attention at all times both during and out of training. That being said it might be one of a few reasons why they are less inclined to carry on with pre- fight hype antics like running their mouth & flashing $$$...can't say they don't chase the ladies because it's a fact that some of the most beautiful women are from that part of the world. One thing is for sure and that's that they LOVE the Western Style of fighting and more and more Eastern European & Russian fighters are making their way to the American shores especially LA to train, find promoters and hopefully build some credibility and gain a reputation. In general they are good people with good family values, strong character and honorable tradition but as in all cultures and countries there is both good and bad.
Interesting thread and thanks to the Moderator of Boxing Scene for starting it. :)
some of them
there have been plenty of gentlemen americans, asians, west euros, as well doe.
andrew golota was polish, for example, and he was a bad apple. former street guy. couldn't resist the temptation to hit the nuts.

I had my picture taken with Kubrat Pulev. He was frankly quite busy looking for hot chicks repeatedly saying how hot those german birds were.
It might be true, I've not seen many Eastern Euros flash their money and hit women, or go on racist rants and whatnot.
They flash dogs instead

They seem respectful but I know the klits aren't gentleman like behind the scenes with their slave contracts, glove issues and the rest.
The ones I know seem more quiet and serious compared to everyone else
