At any age Hopkins gets hurt bad. If he was aggressive he gets KO, if he runs he mite last the distance. People tend to overrate hopkins really. I give him all the credit in the world but his biggest win was an undersized Trinidad. People tend to think of hop as a destroyer but rather he was a distance fighter....hug, hold....ugly decision
My observation on GGG/Gonzalez:
Choco needs to move up. He look weaker and balance not as good due to weight issue. GGG has better footwork and ring cutting ability. GGG greater power and better chin(both has great chin). Choco has killer inside fighting and combinations. These two warriors' punch variations are awesome. Some of the best in history.
I place GGG higher on P4P list than Chocolatito vastly due to intimidation and domination factor. Chocolatito breaks you down, but GGG destroys you!
Sorry if this has been posted, but it's from Kevin Iole yahoo sports. So here you go...

People need to put the hate away and stop worrying about ggg moving up or not. He's 33 he's body is fully grown n on fight night weighs only 170! He's always look great during weigh in n healthy on fight night.
N no, boxers move up when they struggle to make the weight or when they've accomplish all there is to do in that weight. Or when they r chased outta that division. Truth is ggg keeps saying he wants to unify the division, he'll go down in history for that. He's making weight, he's making money so haters learn to respect that! He ain't done with the division yet.
Do you hear ggg calling for froch or chavez jr anymore? He wanted chavez jr cuz the money was there so he gave leverage to jr at 168, since jr lost they're not interest anymore. Same goes to froch he backed out n that was it.
Im all for anything that pushes boxing cuz I'm a boxing enthusiast. But I've lost track on the PBC schedule. They really need an entity. Just a couple of networks to brand with. They're all over the place and in most cases you lose track of the fights...
He beat freakin lemieux ffs!!! its not that difficult:
Bro the Lemieux of the world is way more dangerous than Ortiz, Guerrero, n fking berto! N to cap it off ggg put em all away. I'm not knocking on mays d, but damn can I at least be entertained?!
Damn, how did I missed it!? GGG was sporting Jordan everywhere at the press conference and the weigh-in. It's obvious endorsement corps had found a boxing guy to brand with. Here's one for the good guy...
If you don't know the difference n acknowledge the craft of an experienced amateurs like rigo, ggg, lamo then ur just so far behind in terms of boxing scouting. B4 donaire got into with rigo he was a killer, but be cuz of rigos vast amateur experience it happened as it did. The only difference between ggg n the rigo, ward, mayweather of the world is he is just an offensive machine. It's not like he doesn't know the fundamentals, ffs the guy is the 3rd best defensive fighter in the world! Numbers don't lie, haters do!
If you can't see GGG's sublime defense on Saturday then it's your loss. His movements were very subtle, just enough to get out of the danger zone then he goes back to offense because he is an offensive force. Unlike James Toney's D, GGG doesn't stay in the pocket to exchange. And unlike Mayweather he doesn't go all out on defense. I'm not saying he's up there yet with the two aforementioned fighters, but the boy can slip and slide.
GGG steps back 1-2 then jab or uses the right cross when Lemieux is charging in. If he is too close to the ropes he turns Lemieux around to disrupt Lemieux's foward progress. Or when Lemieux loads up he turns on his side to narrow Lemieux's target and uses the shoulder to deflect Lemieux's punches. One thing I should note is the left hand GGG use to disrupt Lemieux's offense. It is very similar to Mayweather's tactic to disrupt an opponent charging in. When both fighters do that they create a bigger gap or it stops the opp's initial forward movement, making it difficult to throw the intended power punch.
Hey, dont take it from me, even the great James Toney said GGG is the best MW since his prime self so...
Murray tried to clinch and hold. Ask him how well that all worked out for him. :killyou:
Truth! Look at how much bigger Murray was and he couldn't hold or clinch GGG. As soon as GGG know that was Murray's gameplan he started using his head to neutralize the clinch and pulled his arms from Murray. I actually thought the ref should've warned or deduct a point from Murray for holding onto dear life of GGG's arms during some of the rounds.
Look at some of the recent fights ggg has and when the opp gets hurt they try to hold onto ggg, but because his balance and distance is so good, they couldnt. When they reach in he backs up or turn to the side. That's one thing GGG/Kovalev/Klistchko are very good at. Distancing themselves from the opp...Very effective! The only American fighters that can do that are Mayweather and Andre Ward...
If you take GGG out of the equation in MW. It gets pretty competitive. Like some people in here said, it's not GGG's fault for being head and shoulder above the rest. On the other hand, SMW has degale, badou jack, ramirez, dirrell bros, groves...And people claim Ward has clean out the division...
The size difference would be too much for Cotto even at a catch weight. GGG would walk Cotto down and take his shots to get his. Early KO.
GGG right now is too much for my boy Canelo. Ginger would hang in there but eventually he would get chin checked. Even so I want to see the fight. If Canelo is the champ at 160 after Nov. 21 its only right to give GGG his shot. I'm not one of these fans that wants to protect my favorite fighter. I want to see him in with the best, win or lose.
When GGG respect your power as he did Stevens and Lemieux no way he takes one punch to throw one bro. But when he doesn't respect your power, yea he'll run over you...Did you see the segment the road to GGG/Lemieux where GGG makes fun of Monroe's power...He said something along the line of Monroe punching like a kid and started making baby noises...Hilariousss!
If champions keep fighting their mandatory and top ten ranked fighters I could care less. Any fighter in the MW will get goodboyed by GGG and I'll put money where my mouth is.
Now I can't defend p4p players who fights unheard and unranked fighters though...
I don't get all the hate. I think gb is doing great now that Oscar is taking charge. This is what boxing is all about, the best fighting the bedtime who cares about the record really. Since oscars return gb has put up tough exciting bouts. Look at hops vs kov, Lemieux vs ggg, mathysse vs postol, canelo vs cotton mattysse vs Provo n so many more, give them credit man
Ggg has a granite chin. It also helped that he has great balance at all time so that help with his ability to withstood punches. He took a couple of big punches last night when Lemieux unloaded, but because of what I stated he walked through it.
No, I don't think any fighter same size as Ggg can clinch or outmuscle him. He's simply too strong, it all goes back to his balance and conditioning. Murray was an example, as soon as Ggg knew it was Murray's game plan he would use his head to block Murray's chest or turn to prevent the clinching, watch again to c what I'm talking about. And Murray is way bigger than Ggg.
Downloadable schedule to phone. Includes dates, times, channel and records. Reminds you when they coming on then decide if you wanna watch. Plenty of boxing to go around and like all sports cant watch them all
Nice suggestion. But my point was that they should have an entity like a Monday night Football, Sunday night football of that sort you know. To scatter events all around would not, and it has not gained the notoriety that it should have.
Cotto's in his 4th weight division... yes the catchweights are bs...
how many divisions has lil' g moved up?
Cotto resume > lil' g lack there of resume
I would love to c cotto fight Lemieux without those sad catchweight bro if n when that happens ill tip my hat to him. The reality is I'm not sure cotto or canelo wants a part of lemieux. Bro did I ever knock on Cotto's resume? Another sad thing is on all of Cotto's biggest fight he lost don't u forget that, b4 u fire bak yeah Judah was never elite, the Mosley victory was good too, but he wasn't in his prime nor did cotto dominated...
Because he lost 1 fight in 10 years? Rofl boxing fans truly are some of the biggest dummies on earth.
No u dumbass because here was his first test against a fighter as big as he is n he was unable to do sht! Nada, tyson fury, not to take credit from him, isn't the best boxer ard, the strongest or fastest, but he just out hustled the supposedly great hw in wlad. U tell me how a great champ like wlad failed to make any adjustment?!
Ok since u don't get it canelo has been a mw, above 154lb, for last 2yrs n is now the champ which ggg is the mandatory to fight for.
Now ward hasn't fought since idk, n his last fight was at lhw which is 2division above mw.
N u call uself a fan...
Wilder is an arrogant obnoxious loudmouth who really believes in his own hype. I smile the day the dude gets expose...You're not the great HW American hope dude...
Im Asian n i cant stand the life of Shimming! How the fk did you win a gold medal bro! N b4 long ur going to represent boxing out of Asia?! Fk off! Learn to box first...
Thurman? Yes, cant stand the guy...more than anything because of his own fake aura. Youre not a brawler, a pressure fighter...You're a runner...ure onetime, onetime before you're gone...
I am damn sure the debate of Wlad as one of the most dominating HWs of all time is gone out the window. The debate of his accomplishments is also watery now. He can dominate and KO Fury in the rematch and this loss will haunt his legacy forever!
He was focused, he was fit and he just couldn't answer it! It's simply been written in history that Wlad will have trouble with any fighter that's his size and when he couldnt toss him around. Then he's going to have a horrible night. It showed in the Fury fight.
His legacy took a toll and a debate of him among the great HWs in the history is gone!
Bradley's a true warrior, but Brooks is hands down probably the best young welterweight out there. Clear, unanimous decision for brooks. I see him hurting Bradley at times and out muscling Bradley throughout...
I would love to see Brook and Khan duke it out. Brook will shut Khan down, knock him out and send him packaging. I'm so sick of Khans whinning and winning on paper. If this fight ever gets made, Brook beats Khan any day of the week and knocks him out twice on Wednesday!
