We are about 4 weeks from the Cotto-Canelo PPV he was suppose to be on...I guess it's another bum TBA type fighter again ha?
That's 2 tuneups for the #2 p4p fighter in the world. When does he fight someone that matters? It's been YEARS....
Man I thought the Hatian journeyman was bad, but Rohan Murdock is the same as Zerafa - a 23 year-old, 18-1 Austalian novice with no big wins and no special ability.
According to a source inside the camp of Andre Ward, who reported to Behind The Gloves exclusively on the condition of anonymity, the undefeated super-middleweight champion is in camp to be featured on the undercard of Cotto-Canelo to take place on Nov. 21 at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas.
While it has not been officially announced, sources close to Fight Hype say that Ward has signed a three-fight deal with HBO that would put him in line to face light-heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev at some point in 2016.
An opponent has yet to be named for the November bout, but the leading candidate is Australian Rohan Murdock (18-1, 14 KO’s). An official announcement could come as early as Monday, October 19. We will keep you updated with any further information.
Ward last fought in June, scoring a ninth-round TKO of former super-middleweight title contender Paul Smith in a 172 lb. catch-weight bout. Although Smith came in over four pounds over the agreed weight, Ward beat Smith to the punch over the course of the evening.
Ward connected on 231 of 586 punches (39 percent) while Smith seemed to be aestivating, connecting on only 47 of 266 blows (18 percent).

in most instances that would be true, however in boxing, resources are not infinite. They are quite limited, actually. And any resources wasted on Wards garbage fights are resources that are then not available for other more meaningful fights.
Once again boxing fans prove to be a "What have you done for me lately" bunch.
Reasonably speaking, Ward had one fight against sub par competition when he faced Smith after returning from his contract issues. Before that fight he faced a decent opponent when he returned from a shoulder injury. That's two questionable fights for his entire career which took place after unusual circumstances.
I think the real issue is that people have a problem with Ward standing up for himself and taking control of his career, good or bad, no matter the consequences. Ward is able to garner a huge wage because most boxing pros and insiders respect his skill set, end of story.
So now you're mad because Ward negotiated a good deal for himself. Ward set a price and someone agreed to pay it, why you bitter?

yea and the 2 million dollars he gets to fight these bums can certainly benefit him

This. I mean, I like Ward too, but I think between his idea of where he is in the marketplace (as far as popularity goes, facts are facts) and the fact that I am not really sure Roc Nation knows what they're doing in boxing, I think its going to be tough for him to get a big fight. It's just the reality of the situation.
he doesn't want big fights. he's had 4 big fights right there for the taking against bute, stevenson, froch, and kovalev and he hasn't taken any. always making excuses about how they aren't ready, they didn't earn it, he won't fight in certain places, needs more tune ups etc...
I went to Ward's last fight and to be honest he showed a little ring rust. Another tune-up could probably benefit him.

Ward's going to milk 3 tune ups for a "showdown" with Kovalev in late 2016. Wow! He's got Smith which I applaud HBO for not kissing his ass and not televising that sht. He's looking for a 2nd one this year and one first half of 2016?! And people have the audacity to defend this guy.

But ggg is supposed to move up and fight him right away...

Ward most likely cashing out IMO.
Lower caliber opponents don't really ask for high purses because what they're getting is already a high purse.
Ward probably getting more money on his side fighting this guy. He might fight somebody around the same like Zac Dunn, but he's doing himself a disservice by doing this before Kov
I like Ward but what is he doing

I was actually thinking of buying the card if they had a solid co-feature. If ward is fighting some unknown Aussie, I'm probably going to hit up a sports bar and catch the main event itself.
if they put Ward on as the co-feature though, that will give people a chance to get a hot dog and a beer, and maybe hit the restroom before the main event........
Lol have to sig it
Australia's Rohan Murdock looks set to fight Andre Ward on the #CottoCanelo undercard on Nov 21! #boxing @ausboxing @FOXSportsNews— Ben Damon (@ben_damon) October 19, 2015
Damn, sure seems p4p Ward finds Yunieski and Barrera too risky when coming up 3lbs. Rohan Murdock though?!
You guys are just hating.
I have inside sources that say Ward is negotiating to fight the winner of Klitschko and Fury.
Remember a few years ago Ward said he'll be Heavyweight Champion of the World by the age of 32.
Ward is showing he's a man of his word by trying to fight the winner before he turns 32 in Four months.
On a serious note. Miura vs Vargas would be a much better co main event for that event. That would make the crowd alive before the actual Main Event. They don't really need Ward on that card.

Per fight hype it might be some Aussie called Rohan Murdock
