The meeting where Golovkin said "Yes" and Ward said "No" because he had a shoulder injury?
From what I've found it seems it was likely early 2013.

In 2013 although Ward did do some talking about Golovkin, he viewed him as an opponent "down the road" and was more focused on rematches with Froch or Kessler, fights that really had no chance of happening outside of each guys respective hometowns, Ward fights Rodriguez.
By 2014 we have this: http://www.boxingnews 24.com/2014/10/is-golovkin-ducking-andre-ward/(remove the space)
Cotto and Canelo have come onto the scene as possible opponents for Golovkin, if not Froch, Ward is irrelevant as hell and from whatever part of the world Ward is at, he's managing to have his lawyer send letters to HBO saying he wants to fight Golovkin, Ward didn't fight at all in 2014 btw.
Basically if this is true, Golovkin was willing to fight Ward when he was at the top of the mountain. But now is supposedly ducking him.

Man great post...hard to argue this but some will I'm sure lol
Basically, Ward didn't do anything when the fight was available. HBO wanted it done. Ward made excuses.
ward had a laughable run of horrible opponents lined up. do we all forget ward almost fought pavlik? do we forget ward vs sartison? Ward’s management had a deal made with Sartison’s team, but they were unable to go ahead with it after HBO rejected the fight.
he was throwing any crap against hbos walls trying to see if it would stick. he got them with edwin rodriguez but the rest of the guys he wanted to fight were pathetic. he thought he had total control of opponent selection. his promoter and hbo said no you dont. they went to court. he lost.

We don't even know where this 'Ward wants GG' thing comes from. There was never any proof that Ward made any effort to make the fight happen. And here are these GG-hating clowns repeating the same crap over and over again.
I hope GGG gets his cute little celebrity fight against Canelo/Cotto. It may draw more attention but boxing fans know that Ward-Kovalev is the real fight for supremacy in the sport.
It's good that Little G and his fans know their place.
Lol at cute little celebrity fight. It's the biggest fight of the year by some distance, involving 2 p4pers for 3 belts + lineal. That's 10x better than some putative money loser in 2017 which gets aborted due to chronic injuries.

Then listen to real boxing fans and keep your mouth shut? Sounds good? Yeah.
Biased haters like you don't qualify. Sorry. 27k posts and 9 years on NSB for nothing. You didn't make the cut.
They have 2 top guys fighting at same weight, neither one of whom has a decent opponent. It's a logical fight, unless you're Ward and feel like it's too much to expect. Meanwhile in the big leagues you got the Canelo/Cotto vs GGG mega fight

Times are tough indeed. They might have to bankroll a big money loser like Ward Kov, though likely Ward's risk aversion will spare them the expense
I actually agree with you here. HBO is going to get absolutely murdered that night. There is no casual buzz for that matchup whatsoever.
Times are tough. They need those 97,000 buys.

HBO want him to commit to that fight so he's as far away from their potential cash cow as possible :lol1:
Real boxing fans know what's going on here. You guys need to get over it and continue to enjoy the mythical adventures of Little G.

Must be funny trying to defend this fraudster because you of hate for a successful foreign fighter.
Guy is already complaining that he is pressured into moving up, even though he cant make 168 anymore. What a blatant embarrassment for the sport.
That actually came from his own mouth. Now he's complaining he's being pressured to move up. He's become a huge joke in the sport.
That's where you negotiate. I don't think there's an agreement on the split for Ward-Kovalev yet, just a verbal agreement that they'll fight in late 2016.
GGG's team have never been willing to negotiate a fight with Ward. They simply don't want that fight. Boxing fans have let it go. GGG Nation is in complete disarray over it still.
Verbal agreement? Lmao. We're still waiting for Floyd to fight Margarito then. That's a verbal agreement that everyone saw.
Verbal agreements mean squat.
What's funny about that is that I recently ran across an article from around 2013 with Ward stating he wont be pressured into moving up to 175. Hilarious.
Here it is: http://www.boxingnews 24.com/2013/12/andre-ward-wont-be-pressured-to-move-to-175/
Yeah its funny how Ward keeps changing his opinions and tries to fool the public and fans who have no common sense like a couple people on NSB as can be seen in this thread.
Apparently he cant make 168 any longer, he had 2 years to make 168 and still decided to fight at 172. Ward is at least as big as Kovalev and he is not getting younger, he fought at 176 at the olympics and really enjoys either draining fighters like Dawson or make smaller guys move up in weight, like Paul Smith, Rohan Murdock and that 40 year old columbian he wanted to fight next.
He actually managed to have the NSAC reject some of his opponents. Thats quite an achievement trying to bully undersized no hopers that even the NSAC rejects.

You don't understand this whole Ward Kov thing. Nobody negotiates 3 fights in advance, it's ridiculous. But the only way HBO lets Ward back on is if he commits to that fight, which he's been uncomfortable with, see other thread.

Because if GGG beats up Canelo on PPV, Ward would be lucky to get 25% lol. It's like Winky Wright telling Floyd way back, lets commit on 50/50 after you're done with DLH
