I don't know guys, the cat was a little hesitant to throw the right and he was kind of pawing with the jab. Kinda looked like a Klitschko impersonation. Definitely would be proud to own that cat though.
I think Wlad has spoiled us by how frequently he knocks out his opponent. It wasn't an exciting fight, but Wlad was excellent with the jab and controlled the distance the whole fight. Sultan landed no meaningful shots in the fight and Wlad got in twelve rounds of work and looked like he could've went 15 easy. That being said, if he truly wants to be recognized as the HW champ, and bring fans back to the sport, he has to do more.
It was definitely a close fight but I think Kelly did enough to ESCAPE with the win. I would've loved to see a SD or a draw as it would lead up to a potentially big third fight. As it stands, I wouldn't be surprised to see Kelly and JT wind up fighting for a SMW title. Respect to both guys!
P.S.
Dwight Howard really is Superman.
Neither fighter should be disrespected in this fight. It could've gone either way but I personally think Kelly pulled it out. If either fighter would've went to the body more, then that fighter would've been the clear victor.
That being said, all respect to JT. He fought a much more disciplined fight and he'll be a handful for any SMW.
The interviewer should appreciate that someone gives him time to answer his questions and not try to be smart (dumb) about it.
I'm sure he just couldn't resist referring to that ripped glove incident (which is a myth) but try to be professional about it.
And if he wanted to sound smarter, how about bringing up the fact that Ali got knocked down hard in that fight.
Anyway, here is the fight. Cooper vs Ali.
Thanks, I'd never seen that before. I know fighters will often target a cut but I don't think I've ever seen a fighter be that accurate.
Record one and watch the other, HBO first. both in HD :)
Exact same here, I'll watch both thanks to the DVR, but HBO's card will come first. Cintron vs. Margarito has potential fireworks and I know Gomez won't lay down, even though Cotto's going to put it on him. Dawson vs. Johnson is definitely intriguing, as well as being Chad's toughest test, but I have no idea how Tarver vs. Woods will turn out. I'm sure Clinton will bring it, but Antonio might make it a stinker.
I have disliked Grey for years.
Would anyone else jump up &down with joy if a fighter took a crack at him during an interview?
I think that would make the greatest .gif ever.
I'll definitely be watching although it is BS that they have to fight at 3:00 am. I actually like to watch boxing earlier in the day and seeing how this is not a marquee match-up in the states they should've let them fight at a more reasonable time. I live in Florida so I don't get exposed to Frank Warren as much as the UK fan, but I believe the term "Twat" is an appropriate expression.
It's too bad Berto is such a thick fucker.
What he really needs to do is drop down.
His stature at WW is definitely a disadvantage, plus he doesn't have the foot speed that Floyd does to get in and out against bigger opponents. One thing he does have is handspeed combined with hard combos, he can put them together like few in the WW division. He needs a couple of more fights to mesh his defense and his offense and I think he'll surprise any champ he faces. Don't know if he'll win though.
I've only been to one fight live, and it was with both Marquez brothers fightin. Raph was fightin Mabuza, and Juan was fightin that thai guy, and those punches sound brutal. You'll never appreciate a blistering body shot until you see that shit live in person, it's insane to see these guy's stand for over 4 rounds after shots like that. Juan dropped that thai guy with a body shot that was louder then the fuckin crowd, lol it was awesome.
I've only been to Jones vs Tarver III (I live 10 minutes outside of Tampa) but I couldn't hear shit. Campbell vs Kid Diamond got more oohs and aahs but the place (St. Pete Times Forum) showed the most love for RJ. Great atmosphere, but I'll never go to a fight there again, its too hard to focus on the fight when there's 18,000 people around you in a stadium designed for hockey.
Mayweather had on the phoniest smile, especially when the judges were handing him out the 6's.....you could tell he was thinking something like "you old man, I could kill you with a single punch" lol.
I thought he did a good job for the cameras, but when they read off the scores and he put his arm around Karina, THAT's when he looked like he wanted to hurt someone. Dude, should've got all 7s at least, I thought he was better than Wayne and the Soap Opera guy. I voted for the guy 10 times, I don't like him (I'm a Hatton fan) but I'm pulling for him. Maybe I'm just trying to find an excuse to like the guy, but I hope he sticks around.
fuck the lipstick, just get fake blood. 99 cent store, shits cheap
Or just buy fake blood at the .99 cent store, I'm glad I thought of that. Doooh!
...maybe he was practically out on his feet after the second right....?
have you guys been hit by a big puncher throughout 7 rounds?
That's kinda what I was saying, after the second right his left comes up and freezes half way to his head, he seriously hurt at that point. My problem comes from that fact he didn't keep the left up after the first big right. Kelly nailed him with a one, two, and JT is standing there, leaning forward with his left down. Either way, you would have to pay me a lot of money to get nailed by a jab from either guy.:boxing:
the jewish law book says that its not possible for a goy (cattle,) non jewish person to take any real wealth from a jew.
the plauge of plauges upon humanity. That was demonstrated to us as clearly as can possibly be two thousand seven years and some months ago. In that vane is where that wealth goes. to the cancer killing us.
Is goyam the plural of goy? NOFX sings it one of their songs (punk band). I think the name of the song is "Linoleum", but I'm probably wrong.
Yeah what a joke. That's what I dont respect about Steward. He's been living on Haerns for a while. He really only takes up established fighters or champions. I havent seen him mold a guy like a piece of clay in a while. Pavlik's trainer is good, IMO. Most of the unheralded guys are. They just havent got that one break.
Steward's gotten to the point that he doesn't need to bring a fighter up from scratch to be effective, a little tweak here and there can take a fighter a long way. However, he does have Andy Lee and Jonathan Banks, both guys have champion potential (MW and CW respectively). True, he does seem like he's preying (as in prey, not pray) on other trainers' hard work, but it is a two street. It SEEMS like its worked for Cintron and Klitschko recenty, JT not so much, and he does have a hell of a resume so guys will be tempted.
Seriously, after getting nailed by the second right hand you see his left come half way up and kind of freeze there. It seems simple, but Antonio's right, it has to be more complicated. After I watched it the second time around I just kept think, okay JT, you're hurt, get your guard up and move away from the ropes. Meanwhile, nothing. Hell after the first big right, JT still kept that left low. The only thing I can think of is that the issue is not being addressed during sparring. I would make JT spar rounds where he doesn't throw anything and just focuses on slipping and blocking. I'm stoked Pav won, and I'm not a fan of JT, but the dude seems like a genuinely good guy and I hope he gets it sorted out.
as my foggy could fart out
Hunh? I assume you meant ass. Or is that your brain. I don't have the FOGGIEST idea. Hah! That was a good one.
Seriously, what does "foggy" mean and why?
Oh yeah, the Phalanx kicks ass too.
Maybe it has more to do with racial acceptance. I hope that most people around my age (I'm 30), both younger and older, judge the people around them on their actions and not anything else. Maybe kids are finally growing up, in our increasingly integrated society, recognizing that differences lie in what you do and not what you are. I'm a military brat who's lived in the US and Europe, I think thats why I'm so accepting of everyone.
If someone physically threatened me, I wouldn't judge them on the color of their skin, but their size and disposition. Wait a second...Is this what you we're saying?
These white fighters grew up in a generation that is more racially accepting than any before it. Its weird, white people's (unfortunately, still not all of us) acceptance of people of all cultures may have led to better white fighters. Psychological and racial...
Equal opportunity ass kicking, I'm all for it. And please, Ann Wolfe, don't fight a man. I don't think WE'RE (men) ready for that yet.
Oh, one other thing, I've had a bit too much to drink so if any of the above didn't make sense, I'm sorry. It just took me one minute to type the last sentence. I shall go watch "Hereos" now...
I like both guys, I've been a Duddy fan for a bit longer though. No way this fight should happen and I just don't see John ever being good enough for someone like Kelly. But then again, two white guys, undefeated, slugging it out on St. Patrick's Day...$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ Tempation is an evil mistress.
The reason he went down, Was because Taylor Throws and Elbow and Pavlik blocks it, then try's to mouth off. Big mistake! he gets hit with like 4 flush power shots right on the chin. I think we wont be seeing Pavlik Talking any more during fights.
But yes Pavlik has a great chin, great heart, great power, great technic = Good for boxing. War Casper
I'm with you on this, replay clearly shows Pav moving his head forward, making a face after he blocks Taylor's Muay Thai left elbow strike. He doesn't need to tighten up the D, he just needs to stay focused and employ it throughout the entire fight. I think he's in love with his power a bit too much and neglects his D, he's very good at picking off shots with his gloves and rolling to absord the shot when he's focused. I respect the hell out of the fact that he considers a fight a good time (I think he likes getting punched in the head), but he needs to tone it down if he wants to have a long career. :boxing:
Fuck No I Wouldnt.
Sir, what your statement lacks in the way of an explanation is made up with a succint pointedness. Well done!!! In all fairness, if boxing is going to truly blossom anew, then this should be free. Alas, I know they will PPV it and I will fall hook, line, and sinker. I am so weak...:puppy_dog
I always suspected they were that the klitschko's were jewish with their dad being so high in the soviet military/politics, the way they look, the opportunities they get with the media.
The fact that they are good with their money.
Just thought I'd throw THAT one out there too.
if berth takes a step up on the undercar then yes
I don't think Berto is ready for PW, Kermit, or Cotto (I'm not even going to mention PBF, ooops) but I would love to see him against El Cabeza de Peidra, Carlos Baldomir. I think Baldy has shown he's a step below the WW elite but a stern test for all true contenders, Berto will NOT knock him out and he will get tested. However, it seems like some people would favor a Berto vs Alfonso Gomez scrap, which would better elevate Berto's popularity.
I thought I had a great point. FUCK NO. Sounds good to me.
That's what I AM saying, you did have a good point. With boxing, there is sometimes too much talking. All you have to do is say "FUCK NO" and all of us know what you're talking about. I want some god damn boxing on ABC at 7:00 PM on Sundays too.
Anyone know when his next fight is??
Wish I knew, but you know prospects, fights come up on short notice. I don't think Joe can make it onto a B.A.D. or ShoBox card just yet and ESPN is done for the year. I imagine he'll have a stay busy fight before the year is out but we won't see it. He sure is fun to watch though.
Yup, he is.. :( sucks no more ESPN boxing for the year.. That means no more Joe Green.. Unless Versus or one of the spanish channels broadcast in their boxing segments.. But yeah I always like seeing him fight!
I doubt they'll get him on Telefutura (I love the way they say Te-Le-FUTU-ra) but we can hope. Anyway, you can always count on them on Friday nights to determine, "Quein es el mas macho (take that Michael Buffer)".
he received a lot of criticism while he was champ, most of what i felt wasn't necessary, once he got the belt he certainly didn't take the easy road.. then he fights kelly pavlik, one of the most dangerous punchers in the sport, he fights toe to toe, almost took him out, and fought hard.. yea, he lost, but afterwards when asked about a rematch he gave a straight up answer, he didn't say any "i gotta talk to my promoter" bullshit, he said he wanted one immediately, the guy is tough with a great story and personality and will fight anybody, he is great for the sport, at least i think so... what do u think?
I would go so far as to say that no one else in boxing has fought the kind of skilled opposition that Taylor has fought in his last six. I'm officially a fan of both guys now and wouldn't mind seeing a trilogy, that is if Taylor can pull off what would now be considered an upset. I fucking love boxing.
For Trick or Traet I am dressing my son up as a boxer. We need to come up with a belt but all we can find is wrestling belts. I was thinking of trying to make one but I'm not creative. I was thinking of using cardboard but don't know if it'll work. Does anybody have any ideas? Also is there any pics on here of belts I can go by?
Dude, get a weightlifting belt and have him wear it backwards, spray paint a paper plate gold (nice and shiny). Then take a picture, of him, yourself, and your father, uncle, or brother, cut the heads off and glue it to your belt. I just thought of this shit right now, but it should work. Trick or Treat, and if you Trick me, bitch, I'm knocking you out. Also a little eye black for one of his eyes and and little lipstick or makeup for fake blood for his nose or eye. Good Luck!!!
