and being an elite pro, still constantly drop his left hand. I could see if he was a shoulder roll guy but he's not. He drops his left and still fights regular like its not a problem. Its crazy to me how HOF's like Winky & Hopkins werent able to constantly capitalize on this. Pavlik crushed him all night over that low left. Those straight rights were smashing him and he did nothing about it all night.
What makes it even worse is that he now has a so called HOF trainer like Steward and he still drops his left. It makes no sense to me
Some guys are so good that they get away with shit.
Antonio makes some good points; I think Taylor has proved to lack good fight instincts, even though he's a terrific fighter. The way he backed into the corner when hurt is scary . . . if you're looking for him to come back strong. Those kinds of problems won't easily go away.
I agree completely. Is there any doubt that Taylor is a better athlete than lanky, akward and white Pavlik? NO, but Pavlik has better fight instincts like you mentioned Kayjay. Taylor is a fucking mess with his technique (dropping that left hand while backing up) and he's got the HOF trainer. Pavlik's trainer refinishes fucking driveways or some shit and he out fought Taylor! I think Jermaine loses his head in the ring. Did you guys see the respect Manny was giving Pavlik after the fight? Maybe he'll start training Pavlik? I wouldn't complain if he did.
thats what im sayin!..i mean hes trynna fight like a slick fighter but he cant..hes to big to fight like that..i mean there is no way he blocks a right hand..he doesnt shoulder it or anything..he needs to pick up his defense big time..

most gifted athletes are stupid.the inteligent ones i.e.mayweather m.j. are the ones who are spoken of as great.
...maybe he was practically out on his feet after the second right....?
have you guys been hit by a big puncher throughout 7 rounds?
That's kinda what I was saying, after the second right his left comes up and freezes half way to his head, he seriously hurt at that point. My problem comes from that fact he didn't keep the left up after the first big right. Kelly nailed him with a one, two, and JT is standing there, leaning forward with his left down. Either way, you would have to pay me a lot of money to get nailed by a jab from either guy.:boxing:
Seriously, after getting nailed by the second right hand you see his left come half way up and kind of freeze there. It seems simple, but Antonio's right, it has to be more complicated. After I watched it the second time around I just kept think, okay JT, you're hurt, get your guard up and move away from the ropes. Meanwhile, nothing. Hell after the first big right, JT still kept that left low. The only thing I can think of is that the issue is not being addressed during sparring. I would make JT spar rounds where he doesn't throw anything and just focuses on slipping and blocking. I'm stoked Pav won, and I'm not a fan of JT, but the dude seems like a genuinely good guy and I hope he gets it sorted out.

In boxing its hard to think with a level head in there. I think Taylor gets in the ring and cant concentrate. He just reacts on instinct. It doesn't matter if he has the best trainer in the world. Thats why I don't get why Steward is to blame.
He backs up with his left hand down. Probably the worst thing you can do in boxing, but he is still a very good fighter doing it. I think that's why a lot of people kept waiting for Jermain to turn into something special. But people forget that being calm, collected, and focused under fire in the ring IS a skill. A skill that guys like Judah and Taylor lack. It seems so simple. Taylor's opponent pressures him so Taylor should move laterally with his hands up. Its really not that simple though. Not at all.
