Call me crazy but I got an image of Maskaev freezing in front of those Holyfield combinations. If Evander is being truthful about his shoulder problems being resposible for his last few losses then maybe he does have something left.
I remeber him losing a bad decision to Echard Dagge for the junior middle title near the end of his career. He should have been a seven time world champ. And he's gay.
For give and take action:
Bobby Chacon/Bazooka Limon 3
Danny Lopez/Mike Ayala
Foreman/Lyle
Matthew Saad Muhammad/Marvin Johnson II
For drama:
Ali/Foreman
Foreman/Moorer
And the best ever for having plenty of both
The Thrilla
It's called the Hall of FameAnd Gatti is doubtless one of the three or four most famous fighters alive. I think induction is usually based on more than wins and losses alone. If Gatti wins Saturday, he's in without controversy
Briggs is the Man
This is not my opinion but an argument can be made for Briggs as being the lineal champion(again) Because Brewster beat Klitschko in a sort of before the fact unification match. Lyakovich then beat Brewster and lost to Briggs. Simple right? Please feel free to discuss and disagree
Ali is the greatest and nobody else is close. Before his exile, his speed and skill made him unbeatable. When he returned, his courage made him unconquerable.
Hugo Corro was the real champ. Taylor would outbox him. He could beat belt holders like Dewitt, Abraham, Benn, Holmes, Joppy, Eubank etc.
(Yes, I said Benn and Eubank)
Floyd will keep winning until his speed and reflexes go. This may happen suddenly (RJJ) or gradually (Ali) Ali was able to keep winning by relying on his chin and intelligence. Roy did not have these vital assets. One day we'll know whether Floyd does.
Everybody should remember Mike Rossman. WBA Light heavy champ in 78. Beat the great Galindez to win the title but lost it back to him a few months later.
Fights which prove anything is possible with belief in oneself always cheer me up... and inspire me
Ali over Foreman
Leonard over Hagler (yes he deserved that decision!)
And especially Foreman over Moorer
We should never forget the price fighters pay for our vicarious
enjoyment. Even the greatest was not immune. But he has fought Parkinson's with the same kind of courage he displayed in the ring and in the fight for civil rights.
PS
Someone said in this thread that convicted felons can't run for office. Ali's conviction on charges of draft evasion was unanimously overturned by the Supreme Court.
Wilfred Benitez was part of that great period as well. He beat Duran and gave Leonard and Hearns trouble too. Duran is my pick for P4P best. But his record against this group isn't great. if you score it like a round robin, Leonard had the best record
1. Baldomir is the welterweight champion (because he beat Judah)
2. IfGatti beats Baldomir he will be welterweight champ
3. PBF is the best welterweight in the world (He comprehensively beat Judah and Gatti)
I don't understand this debate. Champion and best are not always the same guy
