Is it just me, or is everyone else in the United States jumping on the Evander Holyfield bandwagon right now because he seems like the only U.S. fighter who is hungry for a title. Rahman is a joke and a disgrace to ever even hold the belt, and Brewster is still shakey and recovering from his detached retina and wont be back for another 8-12 months at least. I dont really care if he gets hurt, I mean I obviously dont want him to get hurt, but every boxer that steps into the ring assumes that liability. I never really liked holyfield but find myself enthralled in his comeback and hope he takes out all the title holders (or at least 1, as this is most realistic).
when did james toney retire?? he gets overlooked and hes the best HW in the division. toney will unify the belts in the next 2 years and by then holy will be retired for the 14th time
i think Toney has proved he is not even a contender, he got his but whupped by Rahman who got his whupped by Maskeav. Toney is not a contender
Call me crazy but I got an image of Maskaev freezing in front of those Holyfield combinations. If Evander is being truthful about his shoulder problems being resposible for his last few losses then maybe he does have something left.
he just fought to a draw that he should have lost with none other than rahman,,yet he;s the best heavyweight out there? LOL
he won the rahman fight, i don't count shots that hit arms/shoulders/kidneys as points. rahman threw 300 more 'punches' if you can call them that and landed a whopping 6 more then toney. enough said. he's made 5 HWs including 3 champions at some point in there career look like straight up amateurs. but it doesnt matter, like i said, just watch ;)

If Holyfield can beat Sam, and I honestly don't know if he can, I really like the idea of the Mesi/Holyfield fight. They could hype the fight with "WHOS GOING TO DIE!?" and no one would question. All joking aside, it would at the very least get rid of one of them from contention for us. Plus, given their styles, it could actually be an entertaining heavyweight fight if Mesi's chin can hold at all.

Last night was his fight and he won. Give it a few days and some more big boxing news/reaction to the fight tonight with Williams and Mitchell, and all of the "bandwagon" stuff will lessen considerably...
Although I'm excited at the prospect of Holyfield making a successful comeback at this stage in his career; I'm also cautisously optimistic that he will regain the title and have serious doubts about him doing so.
Having said all that, I'm officially on the Holyfield comeback bandwagon! Who's at boxingscene going to join me?! :)
if mesi can become was he used to be, then mesi would win. But right now, that question is a joke. holyfield would slaughter the currect mesi in the 1st or 2nd round. id be worried for mesi's health
Who would win, Holyfield or Mesi?
To be honest i think that we will see this fight soon.
They both need a name to jumpstart their comebacks, and this would be the first real test for them in a while.
I like Mesi if he stays on his feet. He needs to have that chin checked to see if he is for real.
