Always bet the farm on Wlad. Free money just like when Floyd fights.
Made a killing last weekend taking the under 8.5 round prop on Kovalev-Caparello.
I will money line Porter to kick Brook's ass. Anything under 5-1 is good odds considering it's a huge mismatch.
If you want to play a 2-1 underdog Sakio Bika has a better chance against Anthony Dirrell than Brook does against Porter.
So 4 million in purses for the PPV. Say $60 is the PPV price and say it does 250k. GB should still see a profit if my thinking is on point— Ernest Gabion (@eaner0919) July 9, 2014
Math? Who needs it?
$60 * 250k = 15m. PPV distributor takes 7.5m
Promotion is left w/ 7.5m plus the gate to pay 4m in purses. Obviously this is a winner business wise for the promoter and obviously Canelo will get a solid cut of the 4-5m surplus even at those conservative estimates.
Now if it does 350k we're talking 21m in revenue or 10.5m plus gate for the promotion.
To lionheart-boxing.dk,Mikkel Kessler says that he'd love to fight Gennady Golovkin:
"I don't think he's as good as he is made out to be. He has looked good in his fights, but that's easy when you are fighting bad opponents. I'd even fight him at a catchweight. 164 or 163 lbs. I can get down there easy", Kessler said.
Wasn't there supposed to be a press conference announcing his future today?
Full of sh*t as always. I love how he only does interviews with nuthuggers and turns down anyone who might be critical of him.
Ask him some questions about who he will fire after this loss why don't ya?
James Ali Bashir and Dave Williams have both said Fury was offered a fight and his promoter turned it down.
Wladimir isn't a liar, and Bashir and Williams are honest. Fury is a childish wanker who suffers from verbal diarrhea and shouldn't be taken seriously.
It's hard to blame Fury being that he is British and has watched all of his countrymen win world titles by ducking tough fights and taking the path of least resistance.
David Haye talked himself into a title shot without beating a Top-10 heavy, then talked his way into a Klitschko fight without beating a Top-10 heavy.
Audley Harrison got a world title shot for taking part in Prizefighter, which is the most pathetic thing I've witnessed in boxing in my lifetime.
Nathan Cleverly called himself a world champ at 175 even though he wasn't a Top-10 fighter at his weight because he stuck to beating on domestic bums until a Vacant WBO belt came along.
Why should Fury earn his title shots by fighting for them when he can just follow in the footsteps of Haye and Harrison?
One would think that if they only looked at posts in Klitschko threads.
So I understand why that would be.
All posters on this site can put testament to the fact that I post around in multiple threads about all fighters, unlike you and your baby bro fanboys.
Regardless of where you post, everything you post is pure garbage and nobody takes you seriously except for a few of the UK homers.
Even they like to keep a healthy distance from the stench of your nuthugging.
Regardless, PPV numbers have never mattered to me. As a fan, I just want to see good fights and Mayweather/Maidana and Pacquiao/Bradley II were both excellent and entertaining fights, so you guys can have at it as far as picking a "winner."
While I don't care about the PPV#'s any more than the next person the fact is - as fans of good fights - we should be concerned.
By all accounts A Floyd PPV needs to do 1.4-1.5 million to be profitable for Showtime. Even if this fight did a million it'd be a huge loss and unlike after the Guerrero fight there is no Canelo fight looming to make up for it.
People who think Floyd's PPVs losing SHO a ton of money won't affect the quality of programming and fights are being naive.
I'm not going to take satisfaction in the numbers because Floyd still gets paid regardless - it's SHO that is the loser here as well as the rest of the guys who will be taking financial hits as Showtime tries to make up for their loss.
:lol1::lol1::lol1:
I guess he takes the shot on Stiverne and the 100K purse instead.
I'm pretty sure Wilder is a semi-retard.
He throws 10 million out there but realistically he'd step aside for 1 million and a guaranteed shot at the winner.
He's never made any real money in boxing but I guess in the interest of negotiation it's always best to start with an exorbitant figure.
yeah I was mad when the dude took the mic from Broner when he was going in on the messicans lmao. Have some class?? Get the fuuuuck outta here with that boxing is a sport that doesnt draw people of class go watch golf or something lame ass showtime announcer
Doesn't surprise me at all that Broner fans are pro-racism.
Idiots just like the fighter. All of you.
Not a f*cking chance. You can only get 80K fans to a Brit fight if you practically give the tickets away for next to nothing.
Somehow Froch-Groves with 6x as many fans as Floyd-Maidana still generated less than half the live gate.
If Floyd wanted 80K fans he could fight Khan at Cowboy Stadium and make tickets $5 like Froch and Groves did.
Not surprised to see idiots defending Khan.
He says Brook has done nothing to deserve a title shot. What did Amir Khan do to deserve his first title shot against Andrey Kotelnik?
The answer is even less than Brook has done. In fact Khan had never even fought at the weight he fought his first world title fight at. At least Brook actively campaigns as a Welterweight, something you could not say about Khan when he fought for a Junior Welter belt.
I guess all Brook needs to do to deserve a shot at Amir Khan is to equal Khan's epic headbutt win over a shot to **** Marco Antonio Barrera.
Hey... I hear Eric Morales is fat and looking for a fight.... Step up Brook! Be more like Amir!
So Ward should just keep his ranking as long as he steps in the ring once a year against the Rodriguez's, the Pudwill's and the Kashtonov's of the world, while his main rival beats the best fighters in the division?
Is that how you think it should work?
Mikkel Kessler kept himself atop the 168 rankings for 2 years after Calzaghe by fighting Dmitri Sartison, Danilo Haussler and Gusmyr Pedermo.
Chad Dawson and Edwin Rodriguez alone sh*t on the typical Kessler comp.
Jesus..... someone call Allan Green. Ward needs a resume bump by matching Kessler's biggest win of the past 4 years. LMAO
Or was Glass Rib Magee rated in the Top-3 as well?
It's actually embarrassing as a Carl Froch fan to hear people say this.
Cringe.
His whole argument is made moot by the fact that Froch really has no interest in fighting Ward again because he himself doesn't like his chances of reversing the decision.
Froch isn't one to bull**** around and he has pretty much said he's only interested in action fights that fans will love. More power to him but that's also a backwards admission that he's not interested in Andre Ward again.
All in all I'm glad to see 80K showing up for a Froch fight. I've been saying for going on 5 years he's the only British fighter worth supporting and it's about time the idiots like Haye and Khan get pushed to the backburner for The Cobra.
Froch would fight Ward again in a heartbeat, don't get it twisted. He was saying he wasn't keen on the Groves rematch and look at where we are now.
Froch as a proud man would want to beat Ward before being called the Number 1 at SMW. Unlike these idiotic pussified posters who are just frankly embarrassing themselves.
Well let me correct myself... Froch isn't interested in fighting Ward in the US and Ward isn't going to travel to rematch a guy he beat comprehensively the first time.
I don't think there is even a 5% chance of that rematch ever happening simply based on the logistics.
What the hell are you talking about? How were Bute and Kessler the 1 and 2 in the division? :lol1:
So what is Ward now? 4? 5?
Nobody is their right mind had Bute #1 and even if they did the results in the ring have proven that he was never better than #5.
He's ripping Ward for not fighting anyone good while at the same time he is saying Bute was #1 when Bute had fought absolutely nobody with a pulse.
Bute's resume is actually one of the most pathetic in boxing history for a champion with at least 5 defenses.
All this arguing over numbers is a joke. It's got people actually complaining because one company puts together a GOOD undercard.
I don't give a damn if your name is Pacquiao, or Mayweather, or what the fuck ever. To get 900,000 people to sit down and pay $70 to watch you, is amazing.
Amazing that you can get 900k people to sit down and watch for $70 and still lose money. I agree.
Quite the feat by Showtime and GBP.
32 million guaranteed. Biggest mistake since Madoff.
We can agree to that. However, Audley Harrison was also a top 3 British heavyweight and ranked in the top 20 on Boxrec. And no, he wasn't 'conveniently' ranked in the top 15, as he was ranked in July and the fight was signed in August.
Yes he did. And it was disgraceful. It was still a better fight than Leapai and Pianeta who no one had ever heard of! Leapai is a truck driver ffs and had lost to a guy with a 2-2 record and another to a guy with 23 losses on his record.
That sort of thing has never happened to Audley Harrison.
He lost to Price and Wilder after he was beaten by Haye, so I don't really see how that matters much. And yes, Pianeta and Wach may have been able to beat those guys, but he didn't so discount that right there.
I didn't buy the Haye-Audley PPV? Has Wlad ever been on PPV? :dunce:
Other than against Haye of course ;-)
All of your bull**** and excuses are just meant to distract from the point you should be making which is that Leapai would knock Harrison the **** out if they fought and therefore Harrison is the worst challenger.
Still a better fight? Based on what? As sad as Leapai only landing ten punches how is that worse than Audley Harrison not even throwing 10 punches in 3 rounds before he was knocked out?
Then - as you usually do - you make an absolutely retarded statement that is completely untrue. You point out Harrison has never had anything happen to him like losing to a guy with 23 losses.
Are you sure about that?
Because I remember Audley Harrison getting knocked out cold and laying motionless on the canvas after getting put down by a guy who has 21 career losses.
Even by your standards this is a retarded post.
And oh yeah - Povetkin fighting Seldon and Warwyck or whatever that guys name was were both worse than any Klitschko opponent as well.
So there goes your stupid ass, factless, agenda driven hypothesis.
It's all about those Ariza shakes.
In the first fight Ariza was in Khan's corner and he was drinking the special Manny Pac blend. Since ditching Ariza the bum from Bolton hasn't been able to take a shot.
In Maidana-Broner the Ariza-power had Maidana in beast mode for 12 rounds.
since the usual suspects come to the defence of their hero & completely deviate away from the thread topic I wll post something here about audley Harrison. at the time he fought haye in nov 2010 he had won prizefighter & won the European title. he was ranked by both the WBA(#13) & WBC(#16). he vacated the European belt june 8th After winning it in april to sign his fight with haye. it was a domestic clash between a world champion & the European champion. I believe this has happened many times. not to mention there was PPV interest in England for this domestic clash. it's not any worse then what wach, pianeta or leapai did. still a sham of a fight but it is what it is. the thread title has nothing to do with audley Harrison. what is next we gonna talk about Floyd here too? smh...
The only usual suspect is the idiot TS who everyone knows hates the Klitschkos and couldn't give an unbiased evaluation of them if his life depended on it.
Since I know you know your HW history why don't you be honest about Audley's "European Championship". The reality was that it was a vacant title and he fought Sprott (who wasn't even a Top-1o Euro HW) for the belt. He also never made a single defense of the title.
Also -let's be honest how that rematch went. Sprott beat Harrison's ass and outboxed him and bullied him for 11.5 rounds and got so confident going for the KO he got himself knocked out. If anything that "win" made Audley look as bad as any other fight he ever had because he got pushed around by a midget all night.
So yeah. Harrison got lucky with a last second knockout over a journeyman fighter to win a vacant trinket that was so meaningless the WBA didn't even put him in the Top-15 afterwards. The WBA had to be paid off by Team Haye to rank him so the title fight could happen.
He has 21 losses now.
:lol1:
It's good to see that you can still laugh at yourself, lord knows everyone else does.
*Note: If I were as big a flaming homsexual as you this is where I would insert one of those lol emoticons to really drive my point home.
It would be tough to come up with an order but I'll list some names.
Roman Gonzalez

Thurman
Rigo
Lomachenko
Possibles- Lara, Estrada, Frampton, Spence*

Interesting to note - unless I am mistaken - in spite of the fact that Al Haymon controls over 100 fighters he only has one of the 10 I listed under contract.
As many guys as he has signed he has very little of the top future talent.
Verdejo may get there and Klitschko would make this list ahead of Thurman if he doesn't retire and I don't believe he will.
Fact TV pays through the nose for all kinds of sports.
Fact boxing draws an audience.
Fact boxing has been under exposed for decades
Fact boxers have often been some of the biggest sports stars
Fact individual sports are also desired for TV
Fact people will cheer for what they like, they don't need local teams
Fact: even with all of those facts being true they will never justify paying a guy like Robert Guerrero a million dollars for an off-primetime fight that nobody watches.
Fact: Robert Guerrero gets a million dollar purse, not because he's earned it, but because Haymon's contract explicitly states that he only gets paid if he secures Guerrero a payday beyond a certain dollar threshold.
Fact: Al Haymon is inflating fighter purses to ensure he gets paid. This is not in the best interest of the investor and will become obvious very quickly. Haymon is able to get away with some of these things initially because of the investors ignorance as it relates to boxing.
Fact: Even with Adrien Broner being the big star and PBC supposedly being a great thing for fighters - he is fighting Shawn Porter for less $$ than he got for fighting Carlos Molina - but still above the threshold where Haymon gets his - as is Porter's purse.
Fact: Thurman-Collazo is another perfect example. Thurman will be overpaid for a fight that is hardly compelling when there are any number of easily made matches involving Thurman that fans would love.
Thurman-Broner? Not if Haymon has anything to do with it.
Thurman-Khan? Not if Haymon has anything to do with it.
Thurman-Garcia? Not if Haymon has anything to do with it.
Fact: In Al Haymon world Adrien Broner, Keith Thurman, Amir Khan and Danny Garcia live in a magic world where they can all exist in the same weight division yet never have to fight each other.
If he wants to prepare himself for fighting an opponent with a reach advantage and a very good jab, he should fight Tony Thompson.
If he wants to face a taller opponent with a bit of a name that he will probably KO, he should face Michael Grant.
I was just thinking about Michael Grant today. Its funny that he has fought a couple times recently and not so much as a whisper yet whenever that fat slob David Tua farts there is a thread about it.
Haye isnt going to fight Thompson, Dimitrenko I would bet the house on that.
He isn't trying to prepare for the Klitschko's so much as trying not to **** up the big payday he is guaranteed is he wins a couple mismatches diguised as competitive fights.
Haye will probably try for JD Chapman again, if that doesen't work he might fight Sinan Samil Sam (lowest ranked WBC fighter)
Even though Dimitrenko is ahead of him and it would be a great fight David Haye doesen't want to fight anyone that can beat him. As I said it the other thread, Haye won't even whisper Dimitrenko's name. Haye only wants someone who needs a payday that will be willing to fight in Haye's backyard under all of Haye's terms..... hmmm maybe a superfight with Oleg Maskaev?
Other possible opponents: Ray Austin or Kali Meehan.
