On what planet has Charlo for example "thumped" more than Crawford? Thumped his chest?
Crawford cleaned out 135 beating the #1, 2 & 3 (including the unbeaten Gamboa who was on the cusp of p4p and looked potentially special) and then won every title at 140 against a variety of styles. Crawford has cleaned out more divisions then anyone on your list FYI.
I get that he hasn't got a glittering list of opponents but is resume is better than most of your list, his accomplishments far better and obviously his skill which is a bit more subjective but still clearly obvious to me and most.
So we go back to Bud.
1st of all Gamboa nevery fought at 135 before that fight.
Either you are a casual, or you are biased like everyone else on this site.
As far as cleaning out divisions,
Crawford never fought the best in any division he was in.
Never fought Linaries at 135, & at 140 he never saw Progrias, Maurico Herrara, Andre Berto/Broner, Omar Figeroua Jr, or Matheyse.
He fought Indogo, & other guys that are not even a afterthought.
Charlo defeated his mandatory in Lubin, & about to face the dangerous Jared Hurd.
Who will Crawford fight next? Mike Alvarado? Brandon Rio's?
No disrespect, but dude never fought anyone with a pulse.
Thurnan, & ESJ said the same thing.
We all can't be wrong sir...
(1)Loma
(2)Mikey Garcia
(3)Canelo
(4)Usyk
(5)Santa Cruz
(6)SSR
(7)Miguel Berchelt
(8)Jared Hurd
(9)Jermell Charlo
(10)Thurman
Again MHO.
I go with guys who fight , meet mandatory defenses, & REALLY. clean out divisions.
Again. I don't do fantasy, or potentially based fighter who pass the media eye test(Crawford, & a couple others).
Just guys who thump.
That's the way I feel about Crawford, as well as ESJ.
Weak resume, and weak belt holders.
Tell me what is the difference between Indago,Lajuan Simon, Chris Algiri compared to Bundrage, Sullivan Berrara, ,Andre Derrell, or AustinTrout?
You see where I'm going with this.
Either the P4P list is based on a "Fantasy type" of rating.
Potential is the paramount instead of actually fighting the top guys in your division .....
If that is the case, then the guys that I mentioned have just as much, if not more "Fantasy Potential " then the P4P bunch....
Can we be allies?
When you bring up 'titles" in a P4P discussion you know the arguments is weak because yeah you can win titles beating paper champs like Idongo.
You got a ginger who beat Lara, GGG, Trout, Cotto, Mosley in his career.
You got an Ukranian midget who beat Linares, Walters, Russel jr, Rigondeaux.
Then you got Bud who beat Idongo, Gomboa, Postol and Horn and fighting this chollo idiot of Benavidez Jose next.
Undefeated is not an argument to me, therefore Marciano would be the HW GOAT.
And talking about undef guys, Mikey might have a better record than Bud too IMO 4 divisions ect...if you want to go this way.
You made more sense with your keyboards than anyone else on this site today.
"Krusher"
Has faced Ward's style by fighting the master of slow mo, clutching, grabbing, and setting traps by none other than Bernard Hopkins.
Even though B-Hop is what he is, old physically, who has more guile,& tricks to the trade then him? Guess what? it failed miserably. Krusher pitched a shout-out.
Ward has to fight a true Lt.Heavy who is just as crafty, longer, high skill set, and the punch of Bob Foster.
But the real difference will be when Kovalev hits Ward flush....
Guys, at 175, who can stand and take a Krusher shot flush, and live to go another round? We know Kovalev take take shots at 175.....
Seriously, unless Ward pulls a SRL, or a Michael Spinks against Larry Holmes,
true advantage Kovalev.
:boxing::boxing:
agreed!
Both guys have talked about having trouble making 140 and likely are only staying there in order to maintain their status as title holders. I'm glad they're fighting at a higher weight where they'll be able to perform a little better without any weight drain effects and be safer when it comes to taking punches.
I just wish they would've moved up to 147 for this fight but I think they're holding off because they don't want to be officially thrown with the guys at 147 yet. There's very marketable fights to still be made between Garcia/Broner & Peterson/Broner, which could be the other reason they're not fulling moving up to 147 yet.
Very positive response!
:boxing::boxing:
Thank you for the response!
Yes, I'm stoked about this bout.
Not many are giving Peterson a shot to win this bout.
I think he out hustles Garcia. His work ethic in the ring is a throw back to great fighters in the past that are too overwhelming to overlook.
Besides Lomenchanko, who else works the body, the head, the movement in the ring???
You just don't see those ring fundamentals anymore.
Just dudes either running, or looking to load up shot, after shots!
Again, just one person's opinion......
:boxing::boxing:
DW is not the "greatest" but jut the latest.
He is a product of gym preparation, good skill set, and a nice stick of a jab.
If Haymon does his job, he can hold on to the "plastic green belt" for a long time.Did what has to be done.
Now let's not rush him in against "Dr.Iron fist". So not ready for that....
:boxing::boxing:
I see a little bit of Carl Williams
and Ernie Terrell in DW!
He moves like Williams for a big man. Carl was a little more fluid, and took more chances by always being on the attack with his jab, thus we would get KTFO in the process.
Also Terrell, as far as his left hook.
:boxing::boxing:
I respect all of your opinions!
But I think this will be a good fight.I also think that Lamont will out hustle Danny.
Again, both are slow starters, but once "Havoc" gains steam in the later rounds, he can do some damage with that monster body assault.
But that's why they fight. And We will see on April 11th.....
:boxing::boxing:
Do you think it's a Haymon
Ploy for both not to put the titles on the line, or both fighters not wanting to take the risk of a unification bout?
Either way, I think fireworks are gonna fly with this bout!
also would the winner have to face someone like Crawford, or the winner of Broner/Daiz, or Figaroa kid??
:boxing::boxing:
Love Walters but....
so not ready for a slick, smooth stylish fighter like Rigo.
As I stated in another post, guys like Rigo, & Loma are in a different class.
Let Walters build his brand, defend his title, gain experience, so in the future he can fight those two!
:boxing::boxing:
All the stars are in Jr.Welter, & Welterweight div's
Jr.Welters: Welter:
Garcia Mayweather
Peterson Pac
Matheysse Rios
Provo Thurman
Broner Berto
Crawford Soto-Karras
Rios Miadonna
Alvarado Ortiz
Figueroa Guerrero
Molina Bradley
Herrera Chavez
JMM
Brook
Porter
Khan
I mean really guys: is there any question 140-147 has all the stars, and action fighters in boxing!
:boxing::boxing:
This could be a bad matchup for Walters!
Lomachenko is a master craftsman in the ring.
Body punching is punishing. Gary Russell was only in that fight for the 1st minute before Loma lowered the boom on him.
Let's hope this this fight can happen maybe 2016.
Let Walters defend his title, let Walters progress so we can see this to be a more competitive battle in 2016.....
Would like to see Lomachenko fight guys like Rigo., & Gonzalez.
Would like to see Walters against guys like Mares, & Santacruz.
:boxing::boxing:
AB got his on problems
with John Molina.
He's a boxing version of Miadanna.
Ask the "Machine". He had a life, & death struggle with that guy!
:boxing::boxing:
Another fight that will just be
A fantasy for the fans of boxing....
all risk, and no reward for Floyd.......
At this stage, Lara is bigger, and might be faster because of youth.
Weight factor also is into play.
Floyd will ask for 152, because Lara is the natural bigger man....
:boxing::boxing:
Great subject!
I agree with alot of the posters here that styles makes fights!
But.... What weight class are we speaking here? 154, or 147?
If Floyd fought say P-Will, or Margarito at 147, he would wilt under the pressure of A.M. There would be no way he could keep him from coming.
That elbow to the throat won't work.
Same with P-Will. A volume puncher. And a HW's reach, who would walk Floyd down. Angle shots from a southpaw, who like A.M. can take a punch from any Welter.
Martinez at 154 would be just too much for Floyd to handle. Too strong, slick, swift, and sneaky with the left hand. If that's the same Sergio that fought P-Will to a standstill at 154, Floyd would be in serious trouble.
Prime Floyd would be in a world of trouble if from what I saw in Carson,CA 10yrs ago when A.M. & P-Will got together for the Welter title.
Matter of fact, didn't Floyd go into "retirement" after Williams was king of the Welters????
:boxing::boxing:
What network would carry this epic battle?
HBO, OR SHO?
I guess that's the only thing that needs to be ironed out.
Otherwise, this could be a "brawl of it all"....
The "Machine" is a better boxer, and I guess he will use it to his advantage like he did against John Molina.
Another good brawl coming up will be Lopez against Berto!
:boxing::boxing:
Typing from a cell phone!
and your opinion, and credibility holds up as much as a bucket with holes at the bottom!
I've read the b.s. that your selling, and I'm not buying it.
I see one person called you out, and I'll be the 2nd!
Was this a clear enough for you?
Is this the "Queen's English I just typed? or do you have another excuse to perpetrate a fraudulent act of boxing knowledge???:liar:
Agreed!
I'd give so much for a night with Muhammad Ali, one of the most wise boxers I've ever heard talk. The man put together things in his head, most scholars can only dream about.
Would love to ask him was he really scared against Bg. George.
What was he thinking about before his 3rd bouts with Fraizer.
Was he nervous before hearing the score cards in the 3rd bout against Norton, or his 2nd bout against Spinks.....
:boxing::boxing:
Pass me some of whatever you're smoking!
Pac would walk Pryor down in a brutal fight but Pacquaio will eventually end Pryor badly. Pryor will walk into Pac's left multiple times. No version of Pryor beat Pac. Pacquaio is like a superior version of Pryor.
He's like the BMW M4 to the 3 Series
The Lexus RCF to the IS.
The Mercedes c63AMG to the C Class
The Audi RS4 to the A4
They look similar but look under the hood and there's a gap in class. That's pryor and Pac.
Pac has Never seen anything remotely close to Pryor!
The "Hawk" as a modern day version of Hank Armstrong....
This dude beat the great Argeullo.(twice) The only prime time fighter Pacqaiuo beat was MAB.(Who Junior Jones flattened twice!) Everyone else was either past their prime, or straight ahead easy to find sluggers!
He got KTFO by JMM, and many question the other bouts with JMM.
the real pt. is alot of these so called fighters are truly afraid to face REAL SLICK BLACK FIGHTERS the got skill.
Didn't Eric Morales lose to a slick black fighter? So did JCC Sr.!(Frankie Randall)
MP will not even beat the light hitting Floyd Mayweather. Too smart, too slick to handle!
:boxing::boxing:
Well I for one see Peterson
finally finishing the job that Khan, & Herrera forgot to do.
And that is take Danny to school, with a boxing lesson!
I know a lot of you guys are going to say Lamont got stopped by Mathyesse, and since Danny beat Lucas, naturally his should beat Peterson....
Styles makes fights. "Swift" is a slow starter, and runs out of gas later in fights.
"Havoc" is also slow, but picks up steam in the later rounds.
And to me(just my opinion) has a better overall skill set than Garcia.
So all things being equal, what happens when they raise Peterson's hand in victory? does Garcia still keep that belt, and will he have a defend it against #1, or the #2 fighter, or will he just walk away from 140???
:boxing::boxing:
Nothing bad to say about him, but....
The sicking sound of Lampley, & Kellerman gassing GGG up as the second coming of Greb, Robinson, Monson, Hagler, or even Hopkins of middleweights is nuts!
No comp in of the weakest divisions(like Super Middle.), and the build up for him to fight Cotto is making him out to be a superman....
GGG has the skills. He just need a real foil to see if the hype matches the skill set!
:boxing::boxing:
Just really surprised how
no one on this pg gives "Havoc" a chance.
Yes he lost to Mathyesse. It was a bad night.
How many other fighters have bad nights, & bounce back to become kings??
Lewis the KTFO twice.I mean flattened, to only come back to rule a division.
Tyson was stopped, Pac was KTFO, MAB was stopped a couple times....
Not saying he is as great as the guys I mentioned but.....
Guys treat Peterson like he's taking up space.
If you look at his style. He can box, he can rumble, his body work can make any of the 140lbs crumble.
Lamont does not have one punch power, but as the fight goes on, he out hustles his foe. Who wants to tangle with a relentless guy like that.
All of those guys have a weakness at 140. Peterson is just a slow starter, but gather's steam in the later rds.....
:boxing::boxing:
I have yet to see either doc's but....
I've never seen anything better than "Facing Ali"!
To see, & hear that all-star cast of HW's like Norton, Fraizer, Lyle, Cooper, Holmes, Foreman, Spinks, Terrell, Shavers, & to me the most intelligent, and candid fighter of the bunch, George Chavilo.
This is a must see. To finally hear Fraizer reconcile with Ali. Norton, Foreman, Holmes, Lyle give the GOAT mad props gave me goosebumps....
Ernie Terrell forgave him, & Leon Spinks... Yes one of the most forgotten HW title holders in the history of boxing, speaks about those two bouts with Ali....
This was well done, well thought, and noting was sugar coated.
Just boxers talking about boxing, the times, and the man who they faced!
:boxing::boxing:
Well how about these match-ups?
Mathysse vs Provo, Maidanna vs Rios, Broner vs Berto, and the one I truly want:
Garcia vs Peterson, Soto-Karras vs Angulo.
:boxing::boxing:
Youth is on both of the Brits!
Both are legit to give the incumbents a run for the $$$.
At this stage it's a toss-up.
But both don't have that ko power that could scare the older fighters.
For one thing Mayweather will not fight anyone with lateral movement.
After Zab, who was the last guy he fought with speed??
Matter of fact, Pac stays away from those type of fighters as well.
You can't count TB, or Algeri.
But to make a long story short, why would they fight those type of skilled fighters when there are a bunch of Soto-Karras, Berto guys that are easy to hit.
It sells tix.....:boxing::boxing:
