Also, from rewatching the fight.. when wlad sat down.. his hand speed definitely shined more than hayes. If it isn't even, I'd favor wlads speed more. It also carried late where as haye seemed to slow down dramatically and throw sloppy, loopy punches. I think that hurt hayes plans a lot as well. It just seemed that Wlad, as teh bigger man, was teh better conditioned and faster of the two. That wasn't to expected. You usually expect the little guy to have the speed advantage and more in the tank. Whatever fitness trainer Wlad or Eman has to keep/get the big guy in shape... he's good. Agree with your conclusions. I thought Wlad boxed beautifully in the last 4/5 rounds. He, and Haye too, were excellent defensively....both slipping or leaning back from plenty of punches aside from those last few rounds where he connected with some good solid combo's through some consistent (throughout the fight) speed of hand.

Good punch by Hatton on the old man, saw the fight today after downloading it overnight. I'm still out on Hatton, good punch though, far too high to be a kidney punch.

Ricky is a good fighter but against Cotto and Mosley? Might be a step too far at this stage. Mind you, if he is to get some respect, he has to fight guys of that calibre (including PBF if Floyd wants it!). There's the rub fella's, at this stage of the game Ricky is the newbie (relatively speaking), the other guys will only want to do it if the price is right and the price WILL have to be right for the bigger name guys. The comer, in this case Hatton, generally has less cards to play when it comes to haggling for prize money.

It's called softening up the body! A good shot to the body doesn't hurt your legs or arms or head, you may not be able to stand though 'cause to try and stand will just bring on the pain which may last for several minutes. A guy may look alright but busted ribs or cartilidge or a winding will invariably drop you to your knees. There ain't anything you can do about it till the hurting goes away.

onetwopunch Why should PBF fight Cotto?..to much risk not enough $. Agree entirely, a very dangerous fight for PBF, Cotto has the power to possibly beat, and definitely damage Floyd. The speed and defensive skills of Floyd are what MC has to get around. Whilst saying that, I don't think PBF will fight Cotto right now, if he fights at all it will likely be against Hatton. I think Hatton, who I like, could be overmatched against PBF.

Hattons one of the most open fighters around, Castillo would've made him pay for it not that long ago! Some fighters show their age overnight, it happens.

hnk_jr Sure, but I like Cotto's, Margarito, Calzaghe, B-Hop, Barrera, and Manny Pac's better. Much, much better. I like Cotto and Manny Pac too, if Hatton keeps fighting like he did in this fight I'll be a fan of his as well. Quite impressive, the clinching wasn't a big part of the fight in my eyes just two guys who like to mix it in close, bound to be clinching. If he fights Mayweather, he has to fight someone of that calibre next, I fear he may be overmatched. We'll see.

Mosley, Hatton, Cotto, whether PBF can get through all of them will be interesting. If it's going to be in that order and PBF gets to Cotto, my money would be on Cotto! Matchmakers...Bring it on!!

lol @ the khan fanboys. Khan wasnt dominating Garcia at all. Khan throws those flashy high speed combos but they didnt land really on garcia, while garcia was landing brilliant counter hooks the whole fight. maybe you can give the first 2 rounds to khan but he wasnt dominating AT ALL. actually garcia landed clean hard shots from the very beginning, much like Sergio Martinez landed that left hook in the Paul Williams rematch from the very beginning (while the HBO crew never gave him credit for that) Quite a lot like that fight actually. You could just see Garcia slowly catching up with Khan...the counters started landing, his punch output was increasing, he was getting in the pocket more. I was impressed with Garcia...I think Khan has to widen his game a little more if he wants to get back to the championship level. Khan has heart though.

Garcia was getting styled on, who are you kidding? He was adjusting and landing his shots later on but he was not winning at all. Believe me, the judges would of had the fight as a landslide in Khan's favor if he wasn't such a glass jawed bum. Wasn't the result conclusive enough for you? They could fight it 10 times & Khan would get dropped eventually before the round 12 bell rang...all 10 times. Certainly if Khan fights like this. The best way to beat fast hands is to throw punches, especially after they've thrown their combinations. That's what Garcia did.

Good assessment. Good assessment man. I personally think JMM would get destroyed by both Margarito & Clottey. The size, durability & power advantages would be too great IMHO. The drained & very much less than prime DLH could get seriously beaten down. I believe Cotto may have had too much at that stage for JMM but JMM is a durable and adaptable fighter and could've eked out a close decision...possibly then, probably not now. The assessments of Hatton and Diaz are spot on. Easy meat for JMM at that stage...though with the risks of catching a good KO punch. Mosley for mine would simply be too much for JMM to handle...bad match up for him. Anyways if he gets into exchanges with the same versions of the fighters that Pacquiao fought he could probably only handle Hatton, ODLH, and Diaz. If he fought very defensively without getting into exchanges I could see him having a chance with Cotto, and Mosley. Ironically Pacquiao's most overlooked wins I think would give Marquez the worst time. I think Clottey, and Margarito would win big against Marquez. Cotto- MAYBE, Cotto is a good fighter but not on the level of Marquez technically. His only advantage here would be power and lateral movement/footspeed (see Marg II fight). I think with some minor adjustments Marquez takes away the left hand entirely. But can Marquez handle the heat in those small exchanges he likes to do? If Marquez can handle the power I think he can cut him and that can lead to a victory. Cotto's moral goes down when he is cut, and Marquez snaps his punches. He is one of the best skin cutters in my opinion. However I suspect his power is too much, and Cotto's chin is actually too good to be hurt by Marquez. Marg- NO, I think stylistically it is a tough fight for Marquez. Being smaller he brings down Margs power since has to punch down, but it still might be too much. Could Marquez hurt Margarito enough to slow him down? I don't think so. I don't think even Floyd could slow down a Pre Pacquiao Margarito. PBF would win by pot shotting and not getting hit, but Marquez lacks the foot speed and body movement to do this. Marquez does have a chance though if he can get close. This is not hard since Margarito doesn't use his height and does not have good in fighting skills. Margarito's hand speed is slightly below average. Can Marquez counter in between Marg throwing using body movement? My main reason for thinking this is that Marg (Pre Pac) can only lose to guys who are athletic (foot speed, and hand speed) or strong boxer punchers. Clottey- NO, I don't think that Marquez could open up the shell guard. Also in this fight he would have to take the role of lead fighter. Clottey is actually a proficient boxer, and he is taller and has decent reach. Clottey would counter Marquez and I think he would lose an ugly UD. To beat Clottey decisively you also need speed, stamina and power. Power to keep him shelled up, stamina to keep unloading, and speed to throw in the few moments he opens up and land on him. I think Marquez lacks the power and speed here. Hatton- YES, no disrespect here but I think Hatton was always a face first warrior. His power and determination would make it hard for Marquez. I think Marquez stops him late though. Stylistically there i nothing that Hatton could do to stop the combination punches. Also I think Marquez could handle his punch and rough up close tactics, as well as minimize his power easily with distance. Marquez can fight inside as well. ODLH- MAYBE, I think stylistically this is also a bad match up for Marquez. ODLH has power and he can create range (length and boxing skill). He also has good boxing fundamentals. Can Marquez handle his power? Did ODLH have power at 147 around the same time Pac fought him? I think they have similar attributes physically only that Marquez is the much smaller man.Can Marquez hurt him? I think the key here is how far gone was ODLH here? Was it just that Pacquiao made him look bad? If he was slow and plodding like in that fight I could see a close fight. Diaz-YES, Diaz was also a face first warrior. He was determined but technically very weak. Where Pacquiao smoked him physically, Marquez could smoke him technically. It would be a bloodier version of the Katsidis fight. I could see Diaz hurting Marquez at points though. I believe Marquez would win but not as spectacular as Pac. Mosley-MAYBE. I believe the only way to beat Mosley is with boxing ability combined with speed, or with speed and power. Speedy boxers like Winky, or Forrest who would use their height and foot speed to keep Mosley at a distance can win easily. Also Mayweather who with speed and technique was able to negate Mosley's power except in the first 2 rounds. Pacquiao was able to beat him with pure speed and power. After he got Mosley's respect all Mosley did was backpedal. Mosley could not handle Manny. Marquez does not have enough of either here. The problem here is that he packs a great punch, is faster in both hand and feet, even the recent version, than Marquez. I also think he has a much better chin. I still remember him taking those bombs he took from Forrest. Marquez could win a very close fight if he can get Mosley's respect. I don't think he could though. I can more easily see Mosley out muscling small man Marquez.

Respect to both guys, looked like Bradley boxed enough rounds to get the win. Bradley didn't deserve those boos though. Bradley gave too an entertaining a performance, showed too much heart to receive that. Great fight :boxing: Yeah, I think you're right. Provodnikov was strong in a few rounds whilst Bradley clearly outpointed him in the majority. Top fight & good scores too. I guess the favoured fighter can't be impressive all the time & kudos should be given to Provodnikov for his strong showing...wish Bradley had boxed from the outset but then it would've been a boring showing & Prov would've been shown up for the limited, albeit strong, fighter that he is. A rematch would be warranted for sure.

He was boxing intelligenty against Cherry, Peterson, Abregu. He CAN box when he wants to, he just decided to bang with the worst type of opponent you wanna bang with if you ain't got power. That's about the size of it... BTW, has Provodnikov been stopped before?

I don't know about you but i don't like cheats, not only that but his cheating is what makes his fights so boring, the stopping and starting because of the holding ruins the fight and illegally prevents his opponent from landing punches. I know most of you don't know that holding is illegal if done to gain an advantage, but it is. Fans of "boxing" are going to watch title fights even if they don't like the fighters, that's what sports fans do. Gamesmanship, not cheating. Many fighters hold, most get away with it, some don't. Some even headbutt on purpose, some use their elbows a lot, some spit their mouthguards out, others time waste in their corners, or their cornerman may leave the laces or tape loose on their gloves....who cares? It's a tactic & you play it till the referee warns, deducts points or disqualifies. You take any advantage you can get....within reason. The only real cheats are those who tamper with their gloves/wraps, like Margacheato.

I thought that 8th rd could've been ruled a TKO for Klitschko. He was pounding Wach with those rights and he wasn't fighting back. I agree entirely that it should've been stopped in the 8th....Wach had, and offered, absolutely zero after that round....aside from courage & a great chin.

shane Cameron is not that good at all - he is one of those fighters you have to get up for - the best of New Zealand with KO losses to Friday Anhunya and Tua - Barret simply was retired, fought tua twice and beat him, then thought he could blow cameron out because he was brutally savaged by tua - horrible gamble, if Cameron fights Wlad, he does not have the tools - no jab - no head movement - no defense - just swing for the fences, but his arms are not long enuff to get to wlad... like tyrannasaurus Rex eating with a fork and knife I agree, he's got good power but has always been too slow (certainly as a blown up heavyweight when he was fighting Ahunanya & Tua, but quicker as a cruiser) and too open in defence...or lack thereof. As a fellow New Zealander, I'd love to see him fight one of the Klit's...T-Rex probably snacked on small fry too, I guess!!

Oh boy Shane, Shane.....you should drop back to cruiser. This was a great KO but heavyweight is not really your weight. You were too slow when you bulked up to fight real heavies the first time round, fighting just above the cruiser limit in this fight you looked quick & powerful. I'd love to see him fight one of the brothers but he'd get destroyed.

I don't think Guerrero is better than Cotto, Mosely, or the version of De la Hoya Mayweather beat. Unless Floyd has declined faster than anyone else we've seen in the past, Guerrero doesn't a stand a chance. No referee will allow him to use the dirty tactics against Floyd as he did against Berto. Trout is probably the best boxer Canelo has ever faced, so this will tell if he's even ready to face Floyd. I expect Canelo to win, but it won't be easy. Yeaaaaahhhh....well....I think Guerrero is on a par with the DLH that Floyd beat, superior to the Mosley Floyd beat but less than the Cotto that Floyd beat. Agree entirely that Trout is the best that Canelo has faced...by some distance. Real toss up that one.

He can do his work from outside without giving Haye the opportunity to counter over the top. Ok Well, look at what Vitali did to Chisora. And then look at at what David Haye did to Chisora. Means very little. Haye had an excellent win, that's good, gets him back in the game with the Klitschko's. The old, A beat B convincingly, so A should beat C because C beat B unconvincingly is.....not realistic, or generally, a given. Anything can happen. And if it is the awesome Vitaly who turns up, there will be only two outcomes...a pummelling UD or vicious mid round KO. Both to Vitaly.

Wladimir is an awesome HW champion. He has everything - the speed, power, intelligence. When will we find an opponent who can really test him? Wlad is right, I knew that the first clean straight right haye tasted, he would go into survival mode. he cared more about "not being embarrassed by getting KO'd", then winning the fight. I recall reading your comment, you're absolutely correct. I guess most believed that would be the case,....when you feel the power it can be pretty intimidating unless you feel you have more power, then it's going to be an early night for someone (and entertaining evening for the crowd)!
