7-5 Lopez, but the scorecards were indeed a complete joke.
I agree. You can make a case for 4 or 5 rounds for Loma but that's it. Lopez was the winner!
I'm disgusted with people on here. pure Loma haters and delusional as fkuck. It was razor close fight when Loma won second half of the fight. HOW the fkuck these morons here agree with 11-1... This is ridiculous
Fake fans see what they want to see. Real fans see reality. Lopez did win, by two rounds. Was Loma scared early? No but the strategy did not work. If he started a little earlier then things may have been different. The two wide cards? Typical boxing nonsense. Either corruption or incompetence, or a little of both!
135lbs isnt lomas true class. I wouldnt put him up against any atg at that weight. 126-130 is more fair
Exactly! Duran was a killer at lightweight. No comparison at 135.
IDK? If they did a rematch I still think Loma has a great chance of winning. Just needs to start faster.
Agreed! An earlier start by Loma and a classic would be possible!
Change my mind:
Teofimo Lopez just did to Vasyl Lomachenko what Tyson Fury did to Deontay Wilder last February.
In other words, just as Tyson Fury took the fight to Deontay and brutalized him (something almost nobody expected), Teofimo Lopez outboxed and outclassed Vasyl Lomachenko last night (something almost nobody expected).
Both Wilder and Lomachenko are on their downswing and have now lost their sense of aura and mystique.
Fury and Lopez, respectively, laid down the blueprints for beating those guys.
I’m not saying either of them are done, but I am saying that they will never be looked at the same way again, no matter what happens.
And oh yeah, Lomachenko is my favorite boxer. I love the guy but I have to admit the dude got dismantled last night.
Loma was beaten by age and size. This has happened throughout history. Props to Lopez for a job well done!
Lennox wanted to be undisputed Lennox would fight anyone and everyone. Joshua is a manufactured coward, which explains why you like him so much. Joshua will do whatever his handlers tell him. Joshua looks nervous and second guesses himself when being asked what the weather is like outside. They are nothing alike.
Exactly! Comparing the robot to Lewis tarnishes a great career.
Pulev is old and his last big win was in 2016 against Chisora. Being a mandatory means nothing in boxing. Ruiz made A.J gun shy. Of course he can knock out Fury if he hits him but he will have to mix it up and risk getting tagged. Fury by late stoppage or decision!
I have been right and wrong many times before in picking fights, especially when betting on them. With that being said, I see this is way more one sided than most see it. Sometimes boxers get old over night and I see that with Beterbiev in this fight. Age and injuries always take a toll. Bivol has been criticized for carrying guys and coasting. He will not be doing that tonight. Bivol by wide decision or late stoppage. I have already bet on both scenarios. I even hedged with a small "draw" wager. The time for talk is over. Looking forward to this one!
wow paulie out on a limb here
i would say bivol has a .1% shot of stopping beter
I already bet on a Bivol stoppage. +550. I fit doesn't happen, it is what it is but it was still worth a hundred bucks at those odds!
The 3rd fight isn't without excitement imo, but the odds won't be as salivating at the bookies.
For a guy like me though that had Fury in both fights, I've seen that movie and it isn't nearly as exciting as say, the JMM/PEDquiao rivalry was. I'll enjoy another Fury performance because I enjoy them all, but I'm ready for new blood.
Agreed! If Fury beats Wilder again then a fight against A.J would be huge. I am hoping that the Fury/Wider fight has a strong undercard. It is needed in this situation.
I’m thinking the first KD was the one that busted his eardrum; it was a bit of a glancing blow and caught the back of Wilder’s head as he turned away. Dangerous punch for sure and he’s fortunate it wasn’t worse than that. Probably took his equilibrium.
The second KD was a liver shot. Getting hit in the liver suddenly drops your diastolic blood pressure so it becomes very difficult to stay standing.
I think both punches were just very damaging, not so much in force but in where they landed.
I feel satisfied with that explanation alone as to Wilder never fully recovered.
But who knows, maybe there was something wrong with him.
Was it a liver shot? I thought it was straight in to his bread basket. Either way I thought the second knockdown was more of a balance issue then the punch itself. Personally I am clamoring for the third fight with the winner facing Joshua.
Haha, good sport of you.
:boxing:
Fun stepping back and looking at strong opinions less than 6 months ago and how they have changed.
I am a fan of both guys and I am certainly not buying the "costume excuse" but Wilder did not look right. He was staggering around like a drunk all fight. Does Fury possess that kind of power? Especialy the body shot that dropped Wilder? Most guys do not all of a sudden become K.O artists well in to their careers. Even the first knockdown looked strange. Wilder was beaten pillar to post by Ortiz in the first fight and regained his legs. Very strange! Fury does have 21 k.o's but generally not known as a power puncher.
I'd rather see the AJ fight first. Then let Wilder fight for all the marbles.
Wilder triggered the rematch clause so the trilogy is inevitable. The winner of the third fight could get A.J by year's end.
I don't believe he would have fell without the little push at the end. So no KD.
I had pretty good seats and a pair of 12x42 binoculars. I am a big Crawford guy but either call could be justified.
the point is, even if charlo did say "no", its not a fight that cant be revisted in a couple of years or even 3....in fact by then, if charlo keeps winning, his position will have strenghtened
its not a situation where one guy is 27 and the other is 35...or one guy is 25 and the other is 32...theyre both right at the same age
these guys could both fight at 32 and it would still be fine.....as others have mentioned charlo is betting on himself....in a fashion similar to wilder....difference being wilder has a lucrative opponent before the big prize(AJ or canelo) in fury...
they have to keep winning...but both could stand to make way more down the line
look at wilder....even with the fury fight....wilder wanted an immediate rematch....arum stalled it and admitted that....it stands to be a bigger fight now than an immediate rematch would have been
Actually Andrade will turn 32 in a couple of weeks. Charlo doesn't turn 30 until May. Is Andrade being avoided? Absolutely! Haymon does take care of his fighters by getting them the most money with the least risk. Business smart? For him and the fighters, certainly not the fans. As a boxing fan I want to see the best fight the best, period!
see....thats the problem...."if its officially offered"....
porters father has already publicly stated that theyve had the green light to make the fight......now crawford is the a-side...its up to him to make the call to get the ball rolling....the same way it would be for any a-side....
but bob arum went from saying they were looking at porter(before the mean machine fight) to doing a complete 180 and saying it wasnt something they were looking at a couple weeks later once kenny porter said they could make the fight
arum thought he could run his mouth about porter and theyd never hear a peep or porter would never get the ok...once he did then both crawford and bob stopped talking about him
I'm not quite sure if it's just bluster or not. You claim that there was an official offer. Not so sure but if Bud turns down good dough to fight Porter than that is certainly not a good look. Time will tell!
Then explain how he can have ingested a roid that is impossible to ingest accidentally & has never been found in food esp. in UK? How can Shyte have happened to have it in his system on the exact day ukad tested him despite it leaving system in 24 hrs? Why didn't he do a hair follicle test to show hes innocent & why didn't Ukad request it like Nsac does?
How can Shyte have been banned for a supplement before but be stupid enough to accidentally juice? It's obvious Shytes a blatant cheat,he literally was foreshadowing his cheating when he was accusing AJ of TUE's & implying he should level the playing field
I am not British and certainly not a defender of Whyte but Dianabol contamination has occured in the past. With that being said an athlete is responsible for whatever supplements they are ingesting. Many "smart" fighters run all supplements before the control boards before buying or taking anything. Dillian Whyte was exonerated because of connections not because he is actually innocent. An athlete is responsible for every supplement that they ingest whether they are contaminated or not.
haymons WWs and jr MWs all fight each other....his big HW name is doing a cross promotional ppv with espn
how come crawfords resume stinks? how come andrade hasnt fought canelo, jacobs or golovkin when theyre all on the same network?
and my comparison was charlo to canelo...not charlo to andrade as far as age
I already stated that Andrade is being avoided. Bud Crawford should fight Porter if the fight is officially offered. I don't know what other top guys would be available at this point. Ugas perhaps?
And the only reason I'm saying an unimpressive performance is because people are making excuses so even they think it was unimpressive
Usyk looked okay but not like a P4P guy. If it was ring rust then the next fight should be more telling. Provided that the opposition is top notch.
He was not a standby opponent. He was surprised he got a call for a fight, let alone a Usyk fight. Let's not exaggerate now.
I laughed when I read the standby opponent quote. I am fairly new to this site but it seems that many posters make up rubbish as they go along. Witherspoon was certainly not a standby opponent. He got the call on short notice and was definitely not in top condition.
I remember reading that Sammy used to spar with former HW Renaldo Snipes. Used to get his ass kicked but still went back for more. Gotti used to tell him he was crazy to spar a former pro.
Renaldo Snipes was silently managed by a member of one of New York's most powerful families. Not the first nor the last. The money is used but the names aren't.
No, Witherspoon wasn't out for 3 years
He wasn't out for three years but he was certainly out of shape. I am not knocking Usyk. He did what he had to do but stopping a fat Chazz Witherspoon in 7 rounds is not scaring any of the top heavyweights.
Such low levels give no advantage at all. So the safety argument is BS. No reason to damage an innocent persons reputation from microsamples absorbed from food. Which is why WADA upped the threshold.
Absorbed from food? Lol. You sound like Victor Conte from BALCO. PED's are a huge advantage. The levels are irrelevant. It all depends on when the individual was tested. If an athlete cycles on steroids and then is tested after the cycle then the levels will be low. That sure does not mean that there is no advantage.
No. It will damage a fighters reputation, stupid people that have no idea what they're talking about will say they were taking PEDs even when most likely they are completely innocent. We have seen this with the Canelo situation.
It will damge a fighter's reputation if low levels of PED's are found in his system and disclosed to his opponent? Is safety not paramount especially with the recent deaths attributed to the sport?
In the light of the recent WBC ruling (based on interim WADA protocols) that codifies a threshold for Clebuterol concentration in urine tests for fighters who could potentially have been exposed to contaminated meat, should their opponents or potential opponents be notified of any non-negative findings even if they are below threshold?
Any non negative finding - even below threshold - represents a chance that the fighter has used Clenbuterol as a PED even if the probability of meat contamination makes punitive measures unnacceptable per the WBC and WADA.
Do you think opponents should be allowed the right to chose whether or not they face an opponent who might - at whatever probability - have been using a PED to gain advantage.
Simple question. Should opponents be informed or not?
They should definitely be informed. The Whyte/Rivas situation should not be repeated. Whether or not a fighter is allowed or cleared to fight is irrelevant. The opponent should be advised of the situation and then can make a determination on how to proceed.
you would have to be mentally disabled to believe a hand rebuilt with metal rods wouldn't be stronger than brittle bones.
How about I hit your shins with a metal pipe?
Mentally disabled? Do you have a mirror? Stare in to it! Pins are used for stability. It is certainly not beneficial to have an often broken hand over an uninjured one. Do some basic research. A weakened bone with pins is not an advantage!
Welcome Claude! I saw Lejarraga fight at Turning Stone in N.Y in 2017. That was a bad loss for him against Avanesyan. Ask your buddy what's next for Kerman. I wouldn't mind seeing a rematch!
There is indeed a planned rematch. Sept. 28. In Spain.
Its just a little thing they have on here, you can give out "karma" to somebody who made a good post. Its adds to your "reputation" on here. If you see somebody all red it means a lot of people has thought he is a troll, but a lot of people use it just to get back at somebody who has just disagreed with them. Same with the "green" you get when someone likes your post, but people misuse that also. Its not a big deal but I thought I would give you a green to get you started. Anyways I hope I explained it good enough, and welcome again to the board!!!!
Thank you sir for explaining. I appreciate all the help.
