The top 3, in no order, are Pac, Crawford, and Kovalev. Pac's win over Bradley is big and Algieri is a bonus but Crawford and Kovalev fought more which may help them. Crawford might get it because this year for him has been huge and he has had very solid wins. Kovalev's performance and win over Hopkins could very well put him in the lead for the award though.
Until then, blaming Floyd is like blaming Lennox Lewis for no Bowe fight.
Interesting analogy but its the opposite. Mayweather dropped his belt instead of fighting Pacquiao, as did Bowe instead of fighting Lewis.
I really don't think Floyd slowed down a lot. He looked great and fast last fight against Canelo, it was just a matter of Maidana not having respect for Mayweather and apparently being on a different level than Canelo.
Maidana, God as Manny's witness will sleep Pacquaio in under 4 rounds.
lol, Pac destroys Maidana. Terrible matchup for Marcos. And Saturday's fight at least does hint to why May wasn't so eager to fight Pac.
You're comparing a prime Pacquiao to a 37 year old Mayweather. how do you not see the stupidity in this logic.
Not sure that's prime Pacquiao and I don't think Floyd got old overnight or anything like that. He's slightly slower maybe but still the same Floyd. Maidana just was a different opponent.
His style is just not very appealing and a lot of his moves are very subtle which leads to the appearance that the opponent is doing more than they really are.
With his lack of activity he is always going to be dancing on a knife edge anyway no matter how ineffective he makes the other guy.
I agree that judges may not find him appealing due to his lower output but I'd think his connections with Golden Boy would fix that but I guess not.
I like Chris, he is a smart guy with a good head on his shoulders and is a good representative of the sport. I don't see him beating Pacquiao but I do believe he'll make a good account of himself and get more big fights. With his size he has the style to give Pacquiao some big issues and the guy works very hard. I'm looking forward to the fight.
I still didn't see a bite, is there another angle that people are watching from? All I saw was Floyd put his glove on Maidana's mouth, I didn't see actual biting.
Leonard, looks aweome against Davey Boy Green fighters who brawl with slow feet. Stay in front of him.
Isn't that what Floyd pretty much only fights against?
are u now convinced that floyd fought in the pocket because he said he wanted to entertaine the fans??because not only did he prove it with the rematch,,but maidana couldnt even touch the guy and threw way less punches,
but,,but,,but yea but nothing,
chino didnt do anything, floyd sometimes fights in the pockey toe to toe because he wants to entertane the fans and plus what better way to gain recognition for a rematch when the first fiht is very entertainng.
I have to strongly disagree actually. Floyd did move more but a big part of it was the ring size, the ref, and Chino making the mistake of boxing more (also partially due to Bayless though).
Well lets see. THe ring wasnt 26 ft last fight. The ref let Chino fight inside last fight..
That was the only differeces and it made a big difference. It took away any strategy or chance Maidana had. Well done Floyd, you win at politics.
I agree unfortunately. This fight was marred by some things. Floyd may have won anyway since I don't think Maidana had the right game plan, he took away what made him so effective against Floyd (his aggression and unpredictability) but it would've been a lot closer again perhaps.
I honestly didn't see an actual bite in the rematch nor any evidence on Floyd's finger. Had Floyd not screamed and somehow got Kenny to listen and halt the fight then its likely that nobody would've thought anything. All I saw was Mayweather holding Maidana and his glove being pushed into Maidana's face and mouth.
I like his confidence but he's underestimating Floyd. Mayweather can hurt Khan but it seems that Khan thinks he can just press Mayweather and walk through him. He'd lose if he doesn't take Floyd seriously.
you think kahn wouldn't take floyd seriously?
I think he'd do and say what some others have said: "He hit me harder than I thought he could, I just didn't see it coming. Once I was hurt he didn't let me recover." Khan sounds like he thinks Floyd can't hurt him and isn't taking his power or abilities serious and that's a mistake.
the video slow motion, close up replay clearly shows Maidana biting Floyd.. Didn't you see the post-interview with Maidana, they asked him about the bite straight after the fight. He uses his own hand/glove to position Floyd's hand/glove into his mouth and then he bites down
I have to watch it again but it just looked to me that Floyd was putting his glove over Maidana's mouth I couldn't see Chino actually trying to bite or chew at it.
I do completely believe Floyd fought the way he did in the first fight to not only draw up interest in a potential rematch, but to also bring excitement for the fans. He does it on occasion. Take the Cotto fight for instance. Floyd can do it because his reflexes are of another galaxy.
lol worst excuse ever, it's so ridiculous. Especially coming from safety first Floyd.
Him picking so many Latinos is perfect for him. Stylistically they tend to be plodders and offensive-oriented which means he can counter while still having someone aggressive in the fight to help sell PPV and tickets (not to mention the big following they have and him fighting the weekend of Cinco De Mayo and in September). They make him look good, are beatable with his style, and sell.
It's unfortunately very important because of the "fans". If a fighter loses he is made fun of and called exposed, a bum, garbage, etc. It's a big reason why certain fights have not happened.
that's him slowing down actually. watch this vid and his punches are just wicked. even in the shadow boxing you can feel the power
Damn...And that's why he was all wrong for Floyd. I forgot how fast and relentless he was.
Not all of the videos loaded for me but I didn't see any mention of Marciano-Walcott, Hearns-Duran, and Louis-Schmeling II. Those are right up there at the top. In recent years are Pac-Hatton, Martinez-Williams 2, and Marquez-Pac IV.
I want to show every body why the UFC propaganda spread by Dana White and Joe Rogan is pure marketing verbal diarrhoea. As you know, the whole UFC fighters and their fans believe they are some kind of super heroes and always dis-respect boxers and the whole of boxing whenever they want to praise the whole UFC Agenda.
As you can see from the video, 'ground game' as they call it is not effective in a street fight and all it takes to match and overwhelm a PRO UFC fighter in a street is to have a decent set of hands and athletic ability (like a pre 5 fight novice amature boxer).
I'm expecting Hectari to swoop in with his "Ronda Rousey would Destroy Floyd Mayweather in a fight" and his fellow cheer leaders to have something de-constructive to say.

lol the comments on the video are all upset mma fans saying that the mma fighter was about to destroy the guy and that he really won the fight.
Mayweather won't fight a guy like that since he usually needs a come-forward fighter in order to sell, fortunately for him this also works for his unbeaten record since slow pressure fighters are the style that he tends to destroy with his counterpunching style.
Ali. I'm not sure I'd bet against a prime Ali and we know he has the chin to survive a shot that catches him by surprise.
And I would not pick Jones to beat Charles, Foster, Moore, etc. They have the skills and the power to catch him.
