Undeniably, The fans love him, never heard anyone say a bad thing about Pacquiao.
Not Manny Pacquiao, this ATG has been putting in work with no breaks since he first came on the scene, a true fighter.
8-time world champion in eight different weight divisions, non-protected record.
Resume speaks for it's self:
- Cotto
- Marco Antonio Barrera.x2
- Erik Morales.x2
- Juan Manual Marquez.x2
- Oscar De La Hoya.(quit)
- Ricky Hatton(amazing performance,KO in two rounds).
- Antonio Margarito.(ended his career)
- Shane Mosley(KD + ran the whole fight in fear of getting Hatton'ed)
- Tim Bradley( took his soul).
And half of these wins are at welterweight, a small fighter being able to compete with fighters who are bigger, stronger, and just as fast, for so long is incredible knowing how small Pacquiao is, and to win 8tittles in so many divisions is ATG status, it's for the record books.
Fact is he fought all the future HOF'ers in impressive fashion.
Pacquiao is now 35, and past his prime. Enjoy him, this type of fighter comes through once in a lifetime.
Resume speaks for it'self.
Everyone says Floyd is the best businessman, retires when his division gets hot , and then unretires when the threats have passed. Just no cut from the same cloth.
So youd get no credit for beating SRR after SRR lost to Randolph Turpin. Or youd get no credit for beating Duran after Duran lost Laing? Morales most likely underestimated raheem. The fact that as a general rule nobody stopped Morales at that point of his career is brownie points for Pac, and Morales has had good performances after losing to Pac.
When Morales lost to Pac, Morales was still one of the best fighters in the world. Better than the fighters Floyd has fought.
So Floyd is going to be undefeated when you don't have to fight guys as good as Pac fought regularly. When Floyd became a somebody in boxing he went AWOL as everyone called him out, and it got to hot in the kitchen.
And Floyd isn't ahead of Pac, it don't matter what Ring say. Pac is ahead of Floyd, for the same reason Pac is ahead of JC and Sven Ottke who were also unbeaten like Floyd.
Pac has beat better fighters, took risks, and left a trail of devestation behind him.
Holy balls...this boxrec warrior doesn't know who Randy Turpin was
The Morales that Manny beat lost to Zahir Raheem. Stop trying to make him better than he was at the time. Its like a Trevor Berbick or Leon Spinks fan wanting the same credit for beating ali as Joe Frazier gets.
Yes, Floyd is ahead in part because he has defeated all his opposition, something Manny hasn't done.

It's PAC and Hopkins hands down. Those two guys are the last of a dying breed. Only ones who hate on PAC are the crybaby retaliation black power flowmo. Their opinion is garbage because they are race driven.
i doubt than anyone hates pac...people just get frustrated with pac fanboys. they are generally ignorant and uninformed when it comes to anything in boxing other than pac. even then they only seem to absorb the points that serve their agenda.
8 time division champ, Just look at his earlier fights, didnt take any breaks, no vacations to let the division cool down, he fought the names in his weight class, moved up to where the names were, against all odds, against heavier, stronger fighters, just as fast, not just putting up wins, but espectacular performances.
Pacquiao is going in the record books as one of the greatest in our era, thats why i dont feel they should compare him with FLoyd, he's ordinary in comparison, has not thrown caution to the wind the same way two other fighters have.
Hopkins is doing it, Pacquiao is doing it. The two have losses, but they have the resume's, all dared to be great. Both are in the record books.
The Morales that Manny beat lost to Zahir Raheem. Stop trying to make him better than he was at the time. Its like a Trevor Berbick or Leon Spinks fan wanting the same credit for beating ali as Joe Frazier gets.
Stop acting like you didn't get the point being made. If winning a tougher than expected fight is a negative, losing that type of fight is far worse.

Two zingers in one post. :pat:

That is as bad an analogy as you'll ever see. I cant believe you're still in here flomming away like a champion!:lol1:
But Morales is better than anyone Floyd has ever fought, so that Pac had a tougher fight in the first fight than expected is nothing to be ashamed of. Morales, Barrera and now JMM will be talked about as the greastest Mexican fighters of all times. Better than Castillo, who Floyd arguably lost to.
THat Pac struggled with JMM is nothing to be ashamed of as again, JMM is greater than Maidana, and Pac beat JMM 3 times before being koed.
So FLoyd is only top of the poll in ring magazine because of his unbeaten record I can say, as he certainly hasn't got a better resume, and he cant be the best p4p, judging by his last performance. YOu are only as good as your last fight. If Pac was Floyds size, Pac would most certainly beat Floyd. Even being smaller than FLoyd, many people think Pac would beat Floyd, that's why they want to see it.

Winning a fight that was tougher than expected isn't something any credible person uses to knock someone. If that is what you are doing manny would still get penalized more because he lost fights to jmm and morales he was expected to win.

"lets fight for charity", but i reject that 40 mill! -Manny
Out of context bud.
Floyd had said that Manny is desperate for money so that is why he wants a fight. So Manny responded that way to point to Floyd that Floyd doesn't know what he is talking about and at the same time, Manny has gotten fed up of those roadblocks that Floyd pulls and is ready to bluff a bluffer.
I totally agree with the OP, Pacquiao is the greatest fighter of our era. He gave his all and more to his craft.
He is also one of the few exciting warriors with a boxing style most of us boxing fans really enjoy to watch.
The poll had Floyd ahead of Pac even after his poor performance against Maidana. Floyd don't seem to be penalized does he?
Floyd has the momentum now, just like Pac had when he was FOTD and Floyd was the joke figure fighting once every 18months and cherry pickin his return opponents like bloated JMM, and taking layoffs. Pac had the momentum then.
But the poll is just a snapshot in time, no awards or honours in the bag for Floyd. When Floyd and Pac are retired, Pac will have FOTD accolades on his CV. Pac has fought better fighters, yet wasn't p4p no1 by ring magazine.
But history will be more fair im sure, so Floyd has nothing in the bag, it can change, im sure it will.

That's the thing-you have to use a set of valid criteria in your analysis. All you've done is just form a biased opinion and use only variables that support that opinion.
lol at dunn putting all his eggs in the ring voters basket. if the ring voters said it, then it must be right.........
I'm not doing anything of the sort. I'm trying to get you and everyone else to see that there is a group of 20 objective, unbiased boxing journalists/historians that collectively disagree with you, the TS and anyone who agrees with this thread.
What is so wrong with that? The better question is what kind of faulty logic are you, the TS and any poster agreeing with you guys using to determine who is the greatest of this generation?
You missed the point. Winning the heisman is a great accomplishment but it doesn't mean you will be the top draft pick.
Winning fotd is a great accomplishment, it doesn't mean you are going to be picked as the best in your generation.
In no way was I lessening the award.
Point well taken BD.
The vote was taken after all that so it's already taken into consideration. So you need another excuse or just be an adult an accept the validity of the rankings.

I don't know what is is you think I posted, but I knew Bradley was a top 10 p4p fighter before the first time Pac fought and beat Bradley, and now Bradley has lost to Pac a second time, Bradley is still a top 10 p4p fighter.
The fact that Bradley might have lost a close decision to Prov, don't change the fact that Pacs win over Bradley is better than Floyds win over Maidana. Probably because Bradley is more highly rated.
Pac was a ridiculed figure when he lost to JMM, so the poll is distorted. Pac coming back to beat Rios and Bradley proves Pac is no joke, only true champs recover from them Ko's. And that will be taken into consideration the next time a poll is made.

"That's like winning the Heisman"? Are you serious? Heisman is an annual award not one given 10 times every 100 years! Come on Big Dunn give credit where credit is due.
