Lara seems like he'd give Floyd trouble... I know it's the last fight a lot of people want to see... but it's a better fight than maidana ever was... and look at what Lara did to Canelo... He's a southpaw with incredible speed and great timing... It's not going to be a war, but could Lara edge out a decision?
lara is a boring fighter. he speaks no english. he is 31 years old. he has a boring personality in addition to a boring style. he lost to alvarez.
cuban's in america don't watch pro boxing.
he is a marketing nightmare. as a promotor, i wouldn't touch that guy with a ten foot pole.
what the f#ck do you do if he beats floyd? take a pay cut, that's what.
It would be like a chess match.
No, I enjoy chess.
This s#it would be about as dull as boxing can possibly be.
Ironically Lara does have the potential to push Floyd close on points IMO, though I can't see him taking the decision (certainly not in Vegas). FWIW I also think Lara did enough (barely) to beat Canelo, but anyway...
I don't even want to see this fight, but I mentioned it entirely in passing to a FMJ fan a while back, and was somewhat taken aback by the vehemence of the response... apparently it's not looked upon particularly favourably by anyone.
Lara is a very skilled fighter (though Rigo he ain't) but he better understand that if he that if he doesn't adjust his style the 'American Dream' could quickly become the 'Big Sleep'.

hes coming off a loss and isnt a big name and too big of a risk
Lara was far less impressive vs canelo than floyd. He lost all relevance in that loss and turned a lot of people off. Lance armstron would be a better opponent if you get what im saying.
Exactly this. If Lara would have beat Canelo, even in a close fight I think people would have been calling for a fight with Floyd. But he gave such a lackluster showing on a big stage and let Canelo escape with the win, nobody wants to see it anymore. If Lara can make some waves over the next year, maybe people will talk about it more. But since Floyd only has a few left I say he missed the boat.
It would actually be bad for boxing imo. Floyd's stock would crash and so would any future mega-fights with him. Lara's stock wouldn't be fantastic either. Even with a raised profile as the guy who beat Mayweather, he still wouldn't sell.
It does make sense to say that, it's like a Manning choking and throwing an interception to end a game. Lara ran like a b*tch and he lost because of that not because Canelo did anything special. Just like Cotto didn't beat Clottey, Clottey didn't do enough to win and he gave it away.
There is no such thing in this sport, especially considering Canelo never stopped pushing the pace. I'll continue to reiterate, Lara fought a beautiful fight in the early rounds, that was proof he knew exactly what needed to be done but Canelo shifted the fight in his favor after the 3rd round. You can NOT tell me Canelo wasn't the cause of Lara being unable to replicate what he did in the first 3 rounds, you simply can't.
Also, the same goes for Clottey. Clottey's unwillingness to push for the victory is always gonna be credited to Cotto, he wasn't injured at all and if it was the same ol' mental lapses he's known for, well Cotto brought that out of him.
Doesn't even make sense to say that as I already explained, Lara knew what could have came had he not fought that tentative. Also that's false, the shift occurred in the 4th round, watch the first 3 rounds. Lara knew exactly what needed to be done and he strayed away from that. The bold doesn't even make sense, it gets used a lot for this fight, Canelo is every reason Lara lost that fight.

It was BUT..........
It was BUT......did you forget that Lara was winning against Canelo before he started running, and blew the fight? Before that fight, we all wanted to see Lara impose his size and skill on Floyd. He would've beaten Floyd and he still can but Floyd will never challenge himself in that way.
Look what he did to Canelo??? what did he do?
Here you are again riding on someone else's win. Stop making excuses for Floyd. Support the FDD-Floyd Don't Duck movement.
... BWAHAHA!!! That's how Lara always fight Canelo had nothing to do with it. Canelo also didn't win that fight, Lara lost it.

Lara needed to beat Canelo, it didn't matter if the judges didn't give it to him, all he needed to do was win in the eyes of the public. I'm not, like a lot of you, gonna say he was capable of winning decisively because he was made to fight tentative for a reason. People are still acting like Canelo didn't make him fight that way, no one is stupid enough to fight tentative knowing there could be a possible rematch down the line or a Mayweather fight. Canelo in my opinion won, I acknowledge it could have gone either way but it was Canelo who made Lara fight negative.

Floyd has already dug deep at least twice in his career to win
castillo and maidana.
Against Castillo and Cotto, not Maidana. Anyone could do what Maidana did to Mayweather in the first fight if they were told you could use headbutts, elbows and lowblows.
