I think a lot of people are looking at this wrong, I think Calzaghe will fight Pavlik after the Jones fight! The reason he picked Hopkins and Roy is for over ten years of Joe's life as a fighter he has heard these men are a class above him (like they said about Lacy, who would ''Take Joe's head off if they every met''). Look at what got said on here before and after he BEAT Hopkins. For Joe's piece of mind he has to beat those two, and all this talk about well now they old... Calzaghe is no young fella himself. They wouldn't go to Wales, and why should Joe have come over here back then. 50,000 people to see you?! Chanting your name!! Give that up for a couple of thousand?! To prove yourself to the America fight fans? I wouldn't. To have that many of your own countrymen sing your name or come along on what has been a long run of success is more important then money, or fame from the outside world. Now that he has done all that it's time to get those names that WOULDN'T go fight him in Wales (Because they had no reason to fight outside the States). Yea they may all be a little older but a name is still a name. Also to say Joe never came over to fight these guys when they were in they prime is a bit of a cheap way out I feel, Those same guys never went over to fight Calzaghe so both sides are kinda at fault for these fights not happening sooner.
My Top five is... (1)Manny Pacquiao super featherweight, (2) Kelly Pavlik middleweight, (3)Joe Calzaghe light heavyweight (Joe should dropped behind Pavlik for skipping him to fight R.R.J.), (4) Israel Vazquez super bantamweight and (5) Wladimir Klitschko heavyweight.
I think people may be a little more impressed by Mayweather in a re-match. Once Floyd beats someone I think his talent as a fighter and with this ring smarts he has you mapped out. In a re-match he really has a chance to show just how great he is, or could be. I hope!
Bernstein scored it more for Mora than press row and 2 of the judges
Bernstein kept saying stuff like ''I have it for Mora but I could see it going either way''. I didn't see it going any where near a Forrest win at all.
I had a feeling with the way the Showtime commentators were talking that Forrest was going to get the win, and hearing the crowd cheer for Mora I thought it's gonna be a lot of Boo's if Mora loses.
I think he shoud be moved up not because of Lockett but the WAY he beat Lockett. After 2 rounds of Pavlik, Lockett looked like he'd gone 12. Just so clam, relaxed. He looked as good as he could I guess, last night was a great night for boxing fans on both cards HBO and Showtime.
I dislike Mora, and as off as Forrest looked. Mora looked great, the later rounds he really can on and looked good. I do think he should stay at 154, and NOT give up the belt and move back up to 160. This weight looks like it suits him a lot more.
Lockett was out gun, out skilled and out witted. Enzo had no clue what to tell him in the corner, not that there was really anything he could of said. I thought Lockett should have been told get closer to him, he was staying on the out side, when Pavlik took that step back out of range Lockett should have taken TWO steps in and he'd have been near enough to maybe fight more inside. But this is why everyone loves playing Monday Morning Quarterback I guess.
Neither, both were completely stripped of whatever dignity they had entering their bouts... Huh?! These two fighters climbed into a ring in front of a few thousand people and lost. You say their lost their Dignity, stepping into the ring knowing there was close to no why to win and still going in there to me proves Dignity and Pride is something those two men have a lot of. Maybe talent, and skill is what they lack. How dare anyone say ANY fighter who climbs into the ring has their dignity removed because of a lose. Regardless of how the fight goes the fact their in there shows a lot dignity more then some people who have never been in a ring judging them on it, instead of commenting on it.
I'd like to know how many people who voted No have ever strapped on a pair of gloves, or even walked into a gym and boxed. Regardless of your views on Mayweathers skill or opponents when you don't spell respect right or start name calling you really look foolish, I'd love to see you one day stand face to face with Mayweather and tell him he's gay. I think there would be the sound of two slaps, him slapping you and you slapping off the ground.
Say what you want about Duddy and his skill level or level of fighters he has been in with but when you go to see one of his fights you ALWAYS get your money's worth... How the judges call them may not always be right, but fun night any ways! I think going to 154 may turn out to be a great move for him.
no original thoughts, how about that, like King said, another cliche , from a Floyd fan(doesnt surprise me),
Its true I dont need to tell Floyd hes gay, because he is, thats a fact, Ellerbe and him are lovers, its been in internet and talked all over about him in the boxing world, thats a fact,
By the way, you are correct, Floyd would try to slap me, we all know women slap men but Floyd lacks power, she hasnt got the power to slap anybody and make them hit the floor, actually ,Floyd lacks the power to jerk off a mouse
I'm not a Floyd fan at all, but I do respect the man a lot more then I could respect a guy who can't spell and runs his mouth off about nonsense. To back up your points by repeating Floyd's gay, Ellerbe and Floyd are lovers is just silliness. You truly know nothing at all, so on that note I'm outta this thread.
After the third round I thought, people have to stop talking about Hatton getting back in ther with Mayweather. He has to try fight his way to a re-match instead of talking this way into a re-match... I keep typing that because I think it's so true!
Why even let it get to you, if people know it will get to you they'll use it. If your not a racists why would it bother you, it's someone typing on a computer that you will never see... You REALLY care what they think?!
I think it was it was De La Hoya the businessmen who was in the ring that fight, not De La Hoya the fighter ... Like it had been said Hopkins was walking him down and De La Hoya knew if he stayed in the fight he'd lose value at the box office so to speak. I think he could of gotten up, that fight was kinda the death of the old De La Hoya and the new C.E.O. Of Golden Boy.
Maybe because him winning proves A LOT of people who thought they knew wrong, and hating is a lot easier then saying I was wrong... Then again some people just may not like the guy, it happens.
I really can't believe 25 people voted for Hamed, I am stunned. No way no how Marquez would ever lose that fight. Like it was said JMM woulda pulled a MAB on Hamed.
But seeing how highly rated Hatton is in England and how much the English fans love him could there be a Ref. who was not bias in his favor? Half if not most of those fans believe a bias Ref. made Ricky go head first into a ring post Vs. Mayweather.
My dog can tie shoe laces faster then his corner, I think that tenth round was kinda suspect and on that showing No Way can Hatton try talk about a re-match with Mayweather.
Maybe it's just me being English, but it annoyed me when this exchange took place in the very first round:
Crap commentator 1: I guarantee this referee was carefully chosen as a Ricky Hatton ref
Crap commentator 2: Well he's from England, enough said there
I mean wtf? It's the first round.... Seeing what happend in the tenth round, their may have been a little more then right. I know Hatton had nothing to do with the shoe lace but he was saved there by the Ref.
You can't blame Arthur, and of course he thinks he would've win. Who trains to lose a fight? And Arthur's not white, he's Scottish. Please don't say the same thing because it's not. It would be like referring to everyone from Trinidad, Zimbabwe or Jamaica as black.
