Trout finished that round walking Canelo down and put him against the ropes.
Also, Oscar said in some spanish interview he asked Canelo why he didn't finish Trout after the knockdown. Canelo responded that Trout came back really strong.
when did trout hurt canelo?
trout was wobbled two more occasions in the same round... trouts pity punches didnt do the job...
Trout finished that round walking Canelo down and put him against the ropes.
I agree with the Canelo statement. I still haven't watched the fight, but I hear Cotto faded pretty bad near the end. That and the fact that Trout seems to have roughed Cotto up at times makes me think a Canelo fight would look a lot like the first Marg fight.
I don't ever want to see Cotto as a stepping stone, and I think its gotten to that point. If I were to have it my way, I'd have him fight k9 and retire to see him go out on a win and a title (lets be honest, beating k9 is no achievement, it'd be more of a formality).
Just watched it. I have to say, he didn't look too bad aside from being fatigued and sloppy near the end. I think it was mostly a matter of Trout being so much bigger, dude looked huge in there.
I don't think 147 is a viable option, I actually believe the guy when he says he can't make ww anymore.
I stand by what I said earlier though, fight k9 and retire. He could probably still score a couple of wins at 154 but given the fact that he can't KO the bigger guys, his lack of stamina is gonna have him struggling against just about every contender.
Cotto bond with his your son really brings tears to my eye, that boy loves Cotto !!!! In fact am crying right now lol
This. And that bit where his wife tells him shes hurting also got me a bit emotional. I find it disgusting how the cameras seem to love the fighter's family's tears, of course maybe they shouldn't be there in the first place... Still, that doesn't make it right to try and make television out of people's suffering.
That being said, Trout's a humble dude and a hard worker, I'm glad for him.
Been done a thousand times already. Most pick Cotto because they forget that Cotto had a weak chin at 140.
That was near the end of his 140 run, when he had outgrown the division. Early at 140 he took a couple of solid shots from Bailey without flinching.
I agree. Some may think he was slowing down, but truth is he was only planting his feet more often and getting hit in the process. Not like Marg's punches were having much of an effect though... To me it was starting to look a bit like the Mosley fight.
The song was used a few weeks back right before the Pacquiao-Márquez III decision was going to be announced. Lasr Saturday, the played it again between rounds 1 and 2 of Mike Jones vs. Sebastian Lujan. I found a streaming video on the trading block. By the way, credit to the uploader. It's around the 6:55 mark:

The password for the stream is the one used on Obama's links. I can't post it here.
Does anyone know where they got that song from?
I know the song. Caught my attention both times. Sadly I haven't got a clue.
Winky Wright.
Was supposed to fight in Puerto Rico in 09 and pulled out due to poor sales.
Was supposed to fight on the Action Heroes undercard but pulled out due to an injury or something.
Embedding is easy. Just go to 'share' beneath the video and then go to 'embed'. Copy and paste the embedding code into the text box.
I cannot seem to do it on this computer anymore, though.
Thanks. Funny thing is I've done it before, I have no idea why I pasted that link.
Some real bad blood here. Cotto's got some real disdain for Tony. That kind of hate can either create focus or emotions that can create openings for Tony. Cotto looks focused though. This is gonna be good.
I agree, after the presser I thought he'd be eager to get into a brawl, but later I read he dished out his traditional "Miguel Cotto will win, regardless of whether its by knockout or decision." Can't wait.
what did Cotto say, amigos?
"You're an embarrassment to boxing. Mexico should be ashamed of you. Come saturday night, you'll see how this little girl beats you at will and does with you whatever she wants. See you on saturday."
Margarito earlier had said Cotto hits like a girl.
That's it in a nutshell.
I used to throw hooks like Canelo or Mayweather, then I switched trainers, and he taught me to throw hooks like the way Cotto was throwing, knuckles on top. It was hard to learn at first, but now I feel so much more powerful than before. I can drive my knuckles in to someones head or body, and every time I land a crisp shot, I know I've hurt my guy.
He also taught me to throw with knuckles on every punch: jabs, uppercuts, straight right hands, and even overhands. I used to fight with speed and agility, but I would never really hurt my opponent. Now the last couple of years I fight in the pocket and I am able to hurt my opponents, even if they are bigger and stronger.
"No matter how strong you are, or how big your opponent is, if you throw a proper punch, you will hurt your opponent."
Interesting. Thanks for the insight everyone.
The problem with the knuckles on top is a person is more likely to break their phalanges/metacarpals on your pinky and ring fingers(which are considered the weakest out of all the knuckles/fingers), also the wrist.
Yeah, I've never boxed myself but that was the first thing that crossed my mind, it just looks so unnatural, awkward and uncomfortable.
Maybe he was objective when asked by a PR reporter but listen to what JC says at 19:05. That is disrespectful and not true at all. He's calling Cotto a coward.

Thanks, I was looking for this. These jokers always make me laugh with their distorted perception of reality.
so cotto is now saying that margs used the exact same wraps for both fights? Ok so where is the supposed crack in the mosley wrap?
He said he used the same pad that was inserted into the wraps, thus the reason the red stain from the Cotto fight was present in the mosley fight pad despite the fact that the gloves never even came in contact with the tainted pad during the Mosley fight.
Anybody have any idea why Cotto wears that heart rate monitor? I wonder if his stamina is that much of a concern that they actually are charting his heartrate throughout his workouts....I don't recall ever seeing any other fighters using heart rate monitors....correct me if I'm wrong....
Pacquiao wore one, they had a thread and a video on it yesterday.
