Seriously, I don't want to throw more fuel to the fire considering the threads that have been flooding the forum these days, but I find it very distasteful when someone from the broadcast team, which is supposed to be objective and professional, shows total bias and verges on disrespectful.
I have the utmost respect for Chavez Sr. as a boxer, but I don't think JC is fit to be a commentator on these big events. Chavez, twice, called Cotto a coward just because he was cheering for Margarito and was as frustrated as he was. Then, at the end of the fight, he proceeded to make the same conspiracy theory that has been seen to the death on these forums. He said that Cotto was protected and this was a setup. The worse thing is that the rest of the team was being reasonable and accepting that Margarito had a tough road ahead and the stoppage was justified. The team also included Marco Antonio Barrera and Travieso Arce, both knowledgeable and objective in their assessment.
This is not to bash Mexico because, if anything, these commentators did a good job and the unofficial scorecard was fair also, but I think that it looks bad when you have one commentator who is biased and talking as a fan without taking into account the consequences of said comments.
people, you have to realize that PR commentators have class and work ethic, the Mexican commentators are and always will be haters towards the PR fighters. Do you not watch tecate boxing? Have you guys even heard Chavez in the first Cotto -Cheato fight, you would think Mexico won the world cup. All that came out of his mouth was "Le ganamos a un Puertoriqueno, Le ganamos" he said it like ten times. Pathetic. And to mexican warrior, ok Chavez beat every PR, but Tito annihilated every mexican put in front of him.. End of story
Try again he got badly outboxed by de la hoya:boxing: :owned2:
This crap is exactly why this forum goes down the toilet. Whoever justifies comments like that is as ignorant as Chavez. Reply whatever you want to reply. This nationalistic ignorance is about as amusing as a kick in the nuts.
What's comical is that you have nothing to add to this discussion, just the usual nationalistic trolling. I don't have time to waste on ignorants. Would you like a TV station from PR to insult Mexican citizens? It's one thing to badmouth fighters and a whole different thing to attack the citizens in general.
This guy speaks the truth. :boxing:
what the fck do you care? They are not doing it for ricans or americans it is a mexican station whose lone purpose is to support their fighters. All they do is cheer for mexican fighters bc they only brodcast for mexico and people love to support their own.It happens every where except for the US. If your ***** ass doesnt like it dont go looking for it on youtube simple as that. I find it comical
That's okay. That's not really the problem. PR commentators will root or look for the positive things in a fight for a Puerto Rican, just as a Mexican commentator will most likely root for a Mexican in a fight. The problem that Exciterx24 was stating is when you have a commentator BASHING the other fighter and generalizing an ethnic background. If he wants to root for Mexicans, no problem. A bit unprofessional, but it happens to everybody, so you can give him a pass for that. The problem is when you have him saying things like, "Puerto Ricans don't have heart! Puerto Ricans are all overconfident!" :nonono:
I guess Gómez, Trinidad, and Benítez became great fighters without heart and confidence according to his logic. :wtf:

Esta cabron. Cuando las peleas las transmiten en PR, ningun comentarista habla mal de un mexicano. Pero es justificable que ellos lo hagan. Ademas de malos perdedores son unos acomplejados.

this puto ricans are still but hurt till this day that he raped all the ricans they put infront of him. The best line he has said was during the juanma salido fight I believe he said. "ese juanma se me ase muy creido muy presumido como todos los puertoriquenos." lol that had me rolling for days. But what are people complaining about they are a brodcast team for mexico in which they cheer for their own all countrys do it except the america bc it is the melting pot.

Have you ever heard the HBO announcer team? I understand that you're upset that he called Cotto a coward but don't make a big deal of it. It's Chavez, he's a Mexican with the reputation of a give 2 take 1 action fighter. Of course he's gonna be biased.
He lost against Willy Wise. Chavez was legit, tenacious and dedicated . He was a machine but was susceptible to being out-boxed.
Grover Wiley. I have that fight.
Good post.
I remember JCC getting stopped by Wily (sp?) and then having his son JCC, Jr. get revenge for him. I'm like, dude...c'mon. That wasn't necessary. We all knew you were past your prime by then, we forgive you. Even when you fought Oscar, we forgive you.
It's kind of like now with the JCC,Jr./De la Hoya rumors. I'm like, "Really, Julio, Sr? You want to get derive satisfaction for Oscar beating you past your prime by having your SON call out a fighter who was stopped in the last fight of his career and has been retired for THREE YEARS? Really...?"
C'mon, man...let it go.

There is a huge difference between leaning for a fighter when you share his nationality, and insulting the opposing fighter (as he did with Cotto) and insulting the other fighter's whole nationality (as he did referring to PuertoRicans as "full of themselves" in a Juanma fight).
Also, a commentator, even when he leans for a fighter, should stick to be a commentator and not a cheerleader.
As for Junior... he's just preaching to the choir. Wonder why he won't tell the same fluff to American press?
^^^This is what ticks me off about JCC Chávez. It's called projection. It's a defense mechanism. Maybe SOME fighters all full of themselves but to say like they all are is ignorant. Who knows? Maybe HE was full of himself when he was fighting back then. He got some shady ass decisions and calls throughout his career.
He was a hell of a fighter, no doubt. But he should tone it down when downplaying Puerto Rico.
I'd pay to hear someone like Tito and Chávez commentating a PR/Mexican fight side-by-side.
Heres the thing , Mexican view Pr's as runners with all flash and no heart or balls to fight. As a Mexican , i disagree. Chavez quit against Oscar , morales quit against Manny Pac stuff happens . I prefer a boxer that moves in and out and stands his ground when needed, no sense in getting hit over and over again to prove a point.
Chavez was a favorite of mine a long time ago but he is a bitter man and never gives credit to those who beat him. EXample -Randall won and Chavez wanted to sue Richard Steele for the defeat m which is odd cause it was Steele who saved him from defeat against Taylor and blamed his corner for stopping fight with Oscar when it was obvious that Chavez made the decision to quit.

Yeah its thanks to box Azteca that I noticed that it isnt just the mexican fans who have animosity towards rican fighters and puerto ricans in general, but their fighters(active and retired) do too.
Quite funny considering that since Wilfredo Gomez, Ive seen no rican fighter talk bad about mexican fighters or their fans
You act like all Mexican fighters talk **** about Puerto Ricans when that's not the case. There's probably still some personal animosity on Chavez's part because of his bad experiences like Rosario talking **** and even putting a santaria style voodoo curse on him, and Camacho's disco dancing diva antics.
