Normaly i X Cottos training videos of pretty quickly, but since hes hooked up with this new trainer, hes looked great, completely different workout to previous camps, intense!
I think margarito's gonna **** him up again.. if his orbital bone has recovered.
IF IF IF... All I keep reading is Margarito will win IF.
Just pick a winner, put some money/points down, y ya.
Nice videos I found of Cotto's Media day yesterday.:boxing:
Ole toro! Loving the footwork. It's exactly what many of were thinking as a strategy. Gotta stay off the ropes. Hopefully his stamina is at a point were he can sustain that amount of movement for most of the fight, but also, I hope that they are plannng on incorporating some clinching in certain situations.
His punches look crisp and powerful. The movement, and those accurate punches including Cotto's jab (which I'm more than confident Margarito can feel), should frustrate Margarito and put some doubt into his mind.
I'm loving the pivot moves.
He looks very sharp.
Diaz looks like a genius so far.
Would love to see the sparring sessions and how hands on he is.
Hopefully Cotto is prepared for hell.
It looks like it.
I bet Cotto comes in light. Probably 150.

Nice to see cotto throwing his hook properly for once. Wonder if that's the new guys work. Only enthusiasts will understand what I mean by this, but he's finally rolling his shoulder and hitting with his knuckles facing down as a hook should.
Diaz seems bent on not having Cotto walk back to the ropes. The pivot looks legit... maybe a combo of clinching and lateral movement is the key. The real key is to check the handwraps... No stacking allowed either.
Yo your avatar is NICE!!!! that's a vision of booty....I mean beauty!!!
Pacquiao wore one, they had a thread and a video on it yesterday.
Thanks, didn't see it. I'll look for it..
I don't think he's gonna be able to maintain all this movement for 12rds. He's gonna have to hold some too. Whatever he does he has to stay off the ropes. He looks good for right now....but unfortunately when put under pressure people tend to go back to what they know. Hope he can resist the urge.
That's what I was thinking too. He needs mimic Shane's gameplan. This vid to me is not that much different to how he was boxing 'Rita when they first fought.
It's different as he's using more lateral movement and pivoting as opposed to backing up in straight lines. But all that pivoting and side to side movement can tire you out where as clinching would limit the movement he would have to make and it would make it easier for him to plant his feet and get more on his punches.
Really working on movement, turning. It's the right way to move but he could gas again doing that much movement. He can make it so much easier on himself if he just clinched. Anybody have any idea why Cotto wears that heart rate monitor? I wonder if his stamina is that much of a concern that they actually are charting his heartrate throughout his workouts....I don't recall ever seeing any other fighters using heart rate monitors....correct me if I'm wrong....
