Besides get his 5th title and back on the winning track what does this win do for Cotto career? I think it is a decent win against a young fighter but ultimately I beleive it is just a tune-up for a big fight with alvarez in May. If he wins I put it above Foreman, mayorga, jennings, below mosley and margarito maybe equal to a clottey win at best.
not a goddamn thing, other than keeping him from retiring off a loss
Trout isn't that good, isn't known, and holds a phony title
Cotto isn't proving anything if he wins, and Trout will probably stink it out
that sucks, since Cotto's past it enough that a game Trout could win
I am rooting for Cotto in this fight, but after seeing how cool of a guy Trout is in that all access show, I would be very happy to see him win. I think Cotto's style poses a lot of problems for boxers (Mayweather included) and I don't think Trout has the power to defeat Cotto, but I wish him the best.
Unification? Could you guys quit making it into something it's not? Trout is not THE CHAMPION. He has an interim belt. Cotto will not be a champion if he beats Trout. All this fight really means is that he can beat lower tier top 10 154 pounders at this stage.
He is a champion. Is the same belt Cotto held after Foreman, Trinidad after Reid, Winky and the list goes on and on. just because their is a super champion doesnt make this belt an "interim belt".
I'd say its a solid win over a title holder, about on par with Clottey, although I think the Clottey win was a bigger win. He's younger, bigger, stronger and undefeated, so I think when history comes knocking, it'll look favorable. Assuming he rebounds and does some good things for his career, like Malignaggi.
All in all, its a fight that'll position him for Pac 2, May 2, or Ginger in 2013
tuneup to keep him sharp for his may showdown w canelo
whom will pummell cotto into another realm
i just rewatched canelo vs lopez. hes an animal
if marg can hurt cotto, thats a good enough measuring stick for canelo
Please go ahead and delete your account. I also like how you conveniently left the 2nd round out of the conversation. When little Lopez had Canelo on the ropes and was hammering him. Btw Canelo didn't like it one bit either.

Trout is not an easy fight.
Lefty, good reach with his jab and a long distance upper. Decent speed and foot work. May or may not have the hardests of puches but can hold his own.
Great match up in my book. I got Miguel winning by KO/TKO <10rds. Or a 10-2 UD win for Cotto.
Should set up Cotto / Canelo for May and the winner facing FMJr. for Floyds retirement fight on Dec 2013!
I called it first! lol!
War Cotto!
PS. I got a few eBillions ready to be put on the line on this fight! PM me!

cotto wins another title-ish at 154 (WBA sucks), on the other hand, trout has tons more to gain, cotto's ppv spot and a significant jump on trout's future pay checks

I think it makes him the frontrunner for the next floyd fight.
