Go back and watch the fight again, Cotto landed some of his biggest power punches in the 8th and 9th rds. Starting with 1min 25 sec left of the 9th rd Cotto landed many vicious hooks to the body and head.
:bottle::bottle::bottle:Typical butthurt nuthugger filled his mouth talking a lot of **** before the fight now he has to swallow it back. Grow up excuses are for f@gs.
you mean like the excuse that Tony had plaster in his fight with Cotto those kind of excuses?
Shut the **** up only a fa@ would be happy with this kind of win and call it revenge
I am sorry, I disagree Cotto was slowing down, at the end of that round Margarito made a gesture to his corner on his way back with his gloves, basically saying Miguel was done he had nothing, and suddenly the Dr stops the fight.
I do not believe if the fight continued that Miguel would have made it through rounds 10, 11 and 12 there were three rounds left not two as people have been saying. and Cotto never once hurt Margarito he got at that eye but thats it.
Sure he did land nice shots and boxed beautifully the first half of the fight but it started looking like a repeat of the first fight even HBO stated this in the middle rounds.
However this is no way revenge, you dont claim victory and say you got revenge when your opponent leaves the ring in your back yard smack talking the **** out of you in front of your people, revenge is where you shut his ****ing mouth and that didnt happen.
I am going to be real the way Miguel beat Tony on saturday is the only way he can beat Tony, is to have bigger gloves, the fight in the garden, Nazim Richardson and a catch weight agreement only to win like that all that work for that type of win how pathetic.... whats worse is those who are actually happy that it ended that way...

That's all I'm saying man. The doctor stopped the fight. That's part of boxing. Cotto is 10X the boxer Margarito is. He has clear advantages in speed, technique, footwork, defense, and probably power. But Margarito has advantages too. His advantages are size, stamina, and pound for pound the best ****ing chin in boxing. In that last round Margarito's advantages were starting to show. Cotto was in for 9 minutes of hell.

Watch the last round *****! Cotto landed good shots, but they didn't effect Margarito at all. Watch the video. Who is running and holding? Who is back peddling to the other side of the ring constantly? Who is coming forward like a maniac? The pace was starting to pick up. Margarito threw 100 punches in that round. I don't if Margarito would have stopped him. All I'm saying the fight was breaking Margarito's way.....*****!!!
I'm with you man. Cotto looked exhausted going back to his corner at the end of that round. Not saying Marg would have won...but to me its pretty obvious that the more rounds this fight went on there would be an exponential increase in Marg's chances of stopping Cotto

I just watched the last round on YouTube. Margarito clearly had his best round. Cotto landed some good shots, but he landed great shots in the first fight in rounds 9 and 10. In fact, Cotto won round 9 in the first fight on Ledermans scorecard and would have won round 10 if didn't get hurt at the end of the round. Margarito was started to hunt Cotto down. Go watch the last round. Cotto was running for dear life. And don't give me this stupid answer that the only one who was in danger of getting KO'd was Margarito. In two fights, Cotto hit Margarito with everything and didn't hurt him once. Go watch the last round and tell me Margarito wasn't coming on. Look at Margarito at the end of the round. He motions to his corner that Cotto is done. Look at Cotto's expression at the end of the round, he was frustrated and tired. Would Cotto have survived? We will never know.
****ig idiot. Anyone who watched that last round knows Cotto was putting a beating on Margarito. For god sakes he landed 51% of his power shots on that round and was staring to back Margarito to the ropes. Cotto won every single round and dominated if the fight whent on another round Cotto would have done even worse damage to Margarito.
Cotto had Margarito bleeding from the eye, the nose and the mouth.

I think if these 2 fought without a finite number of rounds then Margarito wins 90% of the time because of their styles and Cotto doesnt have the power to hurt Marg.
Cotto was slowing down but he probably would have lasted the 12. If it was a 15 rounder then Marg probably wins.
More rounds = more chance for Marg but 12 didnt look like enough this time. Marg has got a little worse (plus his eye is knackered) and Cotto fought a smarter fight
These "would have" and other conspiracy theories don't add anything to what happened. The facts are that Cotto was dominating the fight and way ahead on all scorecards and rightfully so. Margarito had 9 full rounds and was not able to be really effective. What is the basis to say that he would do in 3 minutes what he was not even close to doing in 27?
I think Margarito, as usual, showed a lot of courage and desire and I was admiring that, but that disappeared after all the excuses he's mentioned and the way he refuses to give any credit to Cotto. I know they hate each other but it would be a very honorable thing to take your loss like a man and go back to the drawing board with your head up high. It gets even worse when some of his fans just deny the facts and act as if Margarito just needed 30 seconds of the 10th round to put Cotto to sleep out of nowhere when it was clear that Margarito had vision problems, was getting tired also, and seemed much weaker than in 2008. Otherwise, how was Cotto able to push him to the ropes on several occasions? Honestly, who expected to see Margarito against the ropes in a fight with Cotto? I know I did not expect it.
Cotto had a very good fight plan and it worked. It's time to turn the page and stop dwelling on what might have been.
Would you quit your *****.ing already? The whole leading up to the fight you been on a campaign to discredit Cotto before anything even happened. And now that Margarito was completely outclassed you can't shut the hell up. Cotto is a better boxer and arguably a much better human being than Margs.
DEAL WITH IT.
Umm Okay.... Dwyer tells it like it is I aint alone in this the only ones happy with this are Cottosexuals and Tony haters even Miguels trainer said the stoppage was too fast

Cotto did fine. He looked disappointed when they stopped the fight. He didn't run away, he fought smart, using lateral movement, sticking to Cotto's way on how to beat Tony, he would beat him even with 2 good eyes, just not as easy as he did. And by not allowing Tony to pressure him, even pushing Tony back a few times. Awesome. Tony is no longer Cotto's "daddy". :cool2:
Tony got licensed only because of the tremendous amount of pressure and $$$. Remember, they almost didn't give it to him. So when an already very nervous NYSAC stopped the fight in the 9th, (he's lucky...they wanted to stop it in the 8th), they were covering not only Tony's health, but their own asses.
Tony still has a dam good chin, probably always will, and a heart that will not ever stop.
I give both guys credit for fighting their hearts out. Both very tough guys. But this time, it was Cotto's night. This, nobody can dispute.
He was in the best shape of his life, and it showed. He had to come up with his own plan on how to beat Tony, cuz every boxer fights different. He couldn't fight like Pac, or Mosley, 'cuz he doesn't fight like them. His blueprint worked very well, and he stuck to it, following Diaz's instructions very well.
This time, Cotto had a dam good trainer and most importantly, did exactly what he was told. And he won. And he would win again. He's got the blueprint. Remember, their 1st fight wasn't exactly a shutout, he didn't have a trainer, and he trained himself. That's like an average person representing themselves in court. You need a professional. And that's what made the difference.
yeah he tried to do that in the first fight, but his bicycle failed him
Wrong...this is wrong and an important difference from the first fight...cotto still had to win rounds that is why he was still throwing lots of leather and exchanging with margs in the later rounds in the first fight, thus getting beaten up. He did not need to do that this time as he had the fight in the bag. From a mental point of view that is huge! Anyway physically he was less worn down, and took less punishment, which is proven by factual data. Margarito had a long...looong way to go before stopping cotto. When you can see the finish line that is much easier to deal with, I personally didn't see that margarito had the energy to put on the type of onslaught needed to turn the fight. A more likely scenario is some more competitive rounds, and in the 12th round you might have seen cotto give everything left in the tank to make a point.
He wasnt. Looked perfectly fine to me landing bombs
Marg fans are obvious psychics
I thought it was obvious Cotto was breaking down mentally. I believe the fans prefer not to see it for what it is because they despise Margarito, but Cotto may have been saved from another KO loss last night, by the doctors that is.
^This must be one of the psychics.

I agree. Some may think he was slowing down, but truth is he was only planting his feet more often and getting hit in the process. Not like Marg's punches were having much of an effect though... To me it was starting to look a bit like the Mosley fight.
There it is...
He was planting his feet more in the 9th round, reason why he was getting hit but at the same time he was pushing Margarito to the ropes hitting HARD Body and Left hook shots.
Really, "idiot"? That's how it works here when disagreeing? LOL, noted. Anyway, the Cotto fans sitting all around me at MSG seemed relieved (not pissed) when the fight was called. A few even started to roar with delight when Cotto's glove needed attending earlier, thinking that the fight had been called. To me, Cotto was "changing his strategy" towards holding and running because he had nothing left.
To me, like Cheato you're in desperate need of an eye doctor.
People are idiots saying that Marg was coming on. Cotto was "running" a lot earlier in the 9th and that's all the Mexicans remember. I think Cotto got trapped in the ropes and clinched Marg then landed a quick combo on the break. The next minute of the round Cotto started teeing off doing it multiple times. He hit a three punch left hook combo like someone said and Marg's knees buckled slightly. You could tell he felt those three punches and just like everyone else said Cotto was going for the KO. He might have got it too, but Marg simply would have refused to go down in NY. I would prefer 3 more rounds of an extending beating to a KO anyway, that scum deserved everything he got and some.
