$900 million from the Manny and Conor fights. Canelo's biggest non Floyd fight to date is the $100 mil from GGG.
We haven't even counted Canelo, ODH, Shane or Cotto. I just don't see who is out there as an opponent that would sell subscriptions to DAZN.
My guess is ODH knew there werent enough quality PPV fights so he went with DAZN.
The game has changed, there aren't too many fighters with a Cult like following like there used to be pre 2009/2010,
No, i think Floyd was a bit lucky to have a bunch on marketable opponents during his run in WW. I don't see any of canelos future opponents being as marketable as cotto, pac, oscar, etc
No! Canelo reminds me of a more polished Joshua Clottey, he'll pick you apart if you stand in front of him however you move a bit and he'll be like a deer caught in the headlights. Plus his stamina after the 10th or so isn't to great relative to these guys.
Maybe i'm looking back at the past through rose tinted glasses but the level of boxing knowledge has declined remarkably. Half these "analysts" just go on twitter and parrot the consensus, even boxers in the mayweather gym can't break a fight down properly. Look, we've seen some robberies on this foruum but this fight isn't one of them; at all!
90% of the press don't know sh about boxing. We've witnessed some robberies in this forum however this fight isn't ont of them. The fight was very close with the judges favouring the aggresor in the close rounds.
I don't consider him an educated mind in general. Can't stand that pseudo intellectual bullshyt act.
As far as boxing goes, he's shown himself to be a clown. Some of the statements. :lol1: He makes NSB trolls look like boxing historians and I say that with no exaggeration.
Agreed! He's cut from the same cloth as Jordan Peterson; leveraging knowledge from their niche fields and pretending to know it all. Very dangerous since some people actually think they know what they are talking about.
I've always maintained Fury didn't want the rematch even as far back as the post fight interview. Fury is exactly like Floyd where they don't step in the ring with someone unless they feel like they have a huge edge over them. The funny thing is i believe Fury thought HE eas cherrypicking Wilder and the first fight, and after that fight THEY both saw something they didn't like.
You have to be honest with yourself, Tyson Fury is a talented fighter but? He has not shown any of the attributes of a great champion ever. He seems not to like immediate rematches, and believes that telling stories wins him fights 'Without even fighting them' Sometimes fights don't happen, because of business but there is no reason why Tyson Fury should not rematch Deontay Wilder. Yes Wilder gets out boxed in most of his fights at elite level, but he always thusfar fights a way to knock his opponent out or brutally hurting them. 'And the fact of the matter is? Deontay Wilder at 212 pounds, stuck to his simple gameplan all night vs Tyson Fury, and kept on coming all night and? Knocked down Tyson Fury twice, and during the second knock down, he ended Tyson Fury's career for afew seconds 'Deep down Tyson Fury understands that these big boys named Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua are not straight up dossers' and when he stated 'Deontay Wilder I am coming for you baby, in a recent interview? I don't sense a massive amount of venom, conviction or confidence' not like when he was threaten Wilder before the first fight.
Wilder has put some serious fear into Tyson Fury, otherwise? He would not be training like a maniac, never before in his career has Tyson Fury had this mindset towards training. 'He has always bragged about eating whatever he wants and partying inbetween fights'....I don't see any of that now at all, this could be good or bad, is he being himself? Or he is being forced to change, this is a good ability for a fighter to change but in some athletes this deep down does not workout.
I think the rematch will happen, Fury just understands that some of these heavyweights are not so simple to beat now. 'He understands that his one dimensional style at elite level, needs changing' Fury used to speak about being the only big ma who can fight on the inside like Riddick Bowe, he needs some of these dimensions back.
Anthony Joshua is more durable, and maybe has just as much power as Wilder 'Joshua would of finished Tyson Fury if he was inside that ring after the last knock-down' Tyson Fury understands all of this, that is why he is taking time/training and possibly focusing on other fighters to improve.
Exactly! If fury really wanted to fight Joshua, he would have shouted to the rooftops on that one. He wasn't joking when he told wilder "You think you're cherrypicking me but it's the other way round deontay".
Watch the post fight interview and you can tell he had no intention of fighting him anytime soon. I'll always maintain tyson is very much like floyd who doesn't step into the ring with someone unless the odds are fully in his favour. Fury was also pushing for the david haye fight because he could tell haye was done for before a lot of people in boxing realised.
Pretty sure Fury and everyone else feel like he has a pretty big edge over Wilder considering he already beat Wilder when he was about 60% of his best
I'm not a wilder fan by any means but 90% of refs would have waved that fight off. Fury knows he was lucky to come out with that draw. I don't think he wants Joshua at this point in time either. Why do you think Fury called out Wilder and not Joshua when he came out of retirement?
I would like to see him fight Whyte/Chisora to get his confidence back. Might be wrong but I would still favour wilder to stop everyone else if he's still the same.
Similar to AJ in the first Ruiz fight i felt wilders balance was gone after the first KD behind the head. Errol Spence called it post fight when he said there was no point in Wilder continuing because there wasn't much he could do.
Can't believe a guy like dubois is considered small for a heavyweight by todays standards. He did the right thing by quitting, something kell brook should had done.
I think at this point we have to assume that most fighters are on something. It's probably much bigger than we realise with promoters and testing agencies as well as the media in bed together on this.
He's an idiot as far as i'm concerned. As much as I dislike eddie hearn, i think he's put whyte in some advantageous positions no other promoter would have been able to, which has led him to over inflate his true value. I've always maintained that he's just a slight step up over matt skelton or even on the same level as danny williams, hence he has over achieved in his career. That being said Wilder ices him badly as he tends to have stamina lapses in between rounds, and thats a huge no no with deontay.
He's become a harder sell. But due to his name, he'll get some good "B side" offers. He won't win any of them though. It's downhill career and money wise for him. And head trauma does add up.
We're slowly transitioning to an age where social media impact has a presence on contracts and opportunities. Similar to the fashion world where all these 'supermodels' are mostly given victoria secret spots because they have 10mm followers.
Thing is, broner seems to be transitioning more into instagram personality territory. Boxing is his platform, just look at how many videos were made on social media regarding his post fight interview. In this generation you don't have to be good at what you do, as long as you have catchy content for the ADHD riddled viewers you're good and AB realises this.
it's a bit concerning that he wasn't checked for signs of a concussion by the ref/dr/his corner after that nasty headbutt. Showtime trying to market is as being a warrior is a dck move as well, no being a warrior is going to war in a fight you might be losing 8-4 and not walking forward losing pints of blood whilst being shutout and not being able to get going. I'm sure Kell Brook would be thankful today if his corner pulled him out of the GGG fight much earlier.
His corner were just huge POS, a true warrior is never going to quit in there so you have to make the decision for him. It's like the kell brook GGG fight, these cuts/injuries can always come back to haunt you in later fights or even after retirement.
Before the fight i mentioned that fury like floyd doesn't need a trainer per se, they spot their own mistakes amd have an idea of what they're doing/going to do.
Lol I'd love to see some of these posters speak on a podium or at a desk in a room full of 50 people, let alone millions of people worldwide
It would be hilarious watching you shake and shiver like a bunch of nervous middle schoolers at your first school dance
It's funny listening to some of you guys talk with no real world experience
No one is saying it's easy, but seeing as it affects their bottom line and marketability they have to make an effort to work on it. I'm sure AJ is as bad as wilder, however his team made sure he got the sufficient media training necessary.
