This is not a 50/50 fight more 80/20 fight. Walters will get dominated and his only chance is catching Loma with something big. Sadly for him Loma has really good defense.
A boxer with excellent boxing skills and conditioning and little to no strategy can go very far, the best strategist the world has ever seen who doesn't have good fundamentals will forever be a gym fighter.
He already said he will be going back to 135 after this fight so it looks like fight with Loma is still very likely. If he beats Broner moves back to 135 and manages to look competitive vs Loma he sure is daring to be great.
Going up and down the weight is not good for you especially if you are planning to move up again. If Loma beats rigo people will just say Rigo is too small and they would be right because he is. Rigo has a much smaller frame which means he will be at the disadvantage plus he is at the end of his career. People need to stop talking about this fight , it's not gonna happen.
there is a huge difference between quitting if you think your future health is on the line vs quitting when things aren't going your way. I see a lot of brave keyboard warriors here who wouldn't want to wear a pirate costume for the rest of their lives either but have no problem **** talking on the forums.
I think GGG should give him a rematch after Canelo fight. I think that is more likely than Ward giving Kovalev a rematch. There should definitely be some rehydration clause this time. Jacobs was massive
Pacquiao beats Lomachenko wearing sandels
The only way to find out is for the fight to happen but it probably won't. I guess you will just have to keep using your imagination
good stuff, should win, which would shut up a lot of the lomachenko haters on the site who start bleating about the salido loss in response to anything positive said about loma..
If I learned anything about haters is that they never shut up they just find a new angle to attack from. I already see few potential ones.
1. Salido hasn't fought in a while and coming off an injury so loma beating him does not matter.
2. Loma only fights either incative, unproven or aging fighters. Gotta cover all the bases.
He needs to be able to beat tough journeymans like Salido before he can carry Pac's jockstrap.
Midget ass ukranian
He will destroy Salido. That piece of **** won't be allowed cheat this time. Pacquiao is to heavy at this point . The fight won't happen
great post. Most people sit on the fence here, just read any of the thurman v garcia predictions for example 'thurman might win, but dont count garcia out!!!' so they cover their backs and look knowledgable in any scenario. Nothing wrong with jumping on a hype train either, its part of the fun of following boxing to follow someone from an early stage, noone knows for definite how someone is going to handle a step in class.
I am not saying jumping on the hypetrain is always bad but doing it prematurely does tend to expose peoples biases. If you think a figher has got the goods it's fine but if you are just hoping he does and just like shabranskyy gets exposed it does make you look foolish.
IDK man, I mean I'm a chronic fence sitter and rarely make absolutely definitive picks, at least without adding a few caveats, but that's the nature of the sport, man. Unless it's an absolute mismatch the winner is almost never assured. It's more an acknowledgement of reality than an attempt to look smart. At least, I like to think it is in my case anyway... but then I freely admit I get sh1t wrong all the time.:D
Imo adding some caveats to a prediction is smart avoiding making a prediction all together is cowardly.
Lomachenko for me. He got stoppage victories against a rugged veteran and a top talent and his stature probably grew more than any other fighter's this year
Frampton beat two better names, but his performances weren't dominant
Second this
I personally don't want fighters to step up quick but at the same time fighting tomato cans one after the other is not gonna get you much valuable experience. If a fighter keeps disposing of his opposition with little to no effort he should be stepping up.
To box, you need space. Loma isn't a good inside fighter.
Loma is pretty good on the inside but let's just agree to disagree. On the other hand, Lopez doesn't fight on the inside much at all. If you think Lopez is all of a sudden gonna come in trying to fight a phonebooth fight with Loma you are smoking some crack.
Don't do crack. I'm smoking some good Kush.
I'll be here commentating on the fight in the RBR thread. We can retouch base on fight night.
sure thing, no way Lopez becomes an inside fighter overnight.
Lopez can win if Loma makes the same mistake he made against Linares. But that's about all.
Which is why I keep saying - I don't support the 'eye test' of Lopez, personally.
He needs the mentality Virgil Ortiz has. Also that lifeguard chick is hot af.
Youth, athleticism and size are very underrated here. That’s what makes this fight 60/40
Mind you 60/40 in Lomas favor because he’s that damn good.
This reminds me of James Toney vs Roy with Toney being Loma.
Only difference Loma isn’t undisciplined like Toney but Toney at 168 is top 5 all time.
Roy toyed with him.
Loma hasn’t looked all that great at 135, is coming off a shoulder injury within the last 2 years and is getting older by the day.
Lopez has a really good shot. Loma is obviously favored but Lopez is a live dog and I can’t wait!
War Lenca! War Catracho!
I agree that Loma didn't look amazing in some of his last few fights but not all of that can be attributed to his age. I think a good portion of it has to do with stylistic matchups that did not favor him. If you don't include Salido he seems to struggle the most with long rangy fighters that control the distance with long jab and good foot movement. Cambell, Linares, Pedraza all fit the bill.
Lopez likes to pump his jab here and there but he does not try to control anyone with it. For him, the jab is more of the range finder.
