I guess you can look at this from 2 different perspectives, hes moving up risking everything against a tough former champ with name recognition, OR hes moving up for an easy W against a flawed guy with name recognition and lots of drama.

I have never understood the big fuss over Mikey Garcia. I think a focused, and obsessed Adrien Broner can beat him! (Not because Broner is that good, but because i just don't think Mikey Garcia is a great fighter! he is good solid all round fighter! and Broner's style can sometimes expose them sort of fighters).
Mikey is making a very smart decision for his brand and exposure. Broner brings attention, controversy and good tv ratings. But mikey is more skilled, talented, and lives a better lifestyle. He is going to destroy Broner and gain a lot of fans in the process.
I have no idea why casual fans still think Broner is good. I swear I'm going to make hundreds of dollars from this fight just by betting idiots at my barber shop who will pick Broner to win and claim "easy work".
He already said he will be going back to 135 after this fight so it looks like fight with Loma is still very likely. If he beats Broner moves back to 135 and manages to look competitive vs Loma he sure is daring to be great.
Daring to be great against a flat-footed immovable Broner seems oxymoronic. Garcia and Broner have exactly the same size, at least in height. They both have problems figuring out the weight they want to adhere to.

I'm going with the latter, although I don’t think it's an easy fight.
I think I'd rather see him vs lomachenko at 135. Broner is lazy with his weight, and he's more of a zab Judah in that he just doesn't let his hands go. If broner wasn't guy shy, I could see him destroying Mikey, but he's not going to do it, so he'll likely lose. This isn't a crack at Mikey, but, assuming he wins, I'd like to see him fight Crawford next, a fight that he loses pretty badly imo.
Broner has been selling wolf tickets for so long that even alot of people here are buying them. Dude is a clown who out of ALL the divisions he has campaigned in, he has beaten exactly ONE top-10 fighter (Demarco)
People trying to act like he is Godzilla or something.........lol
but but but but Theopane doe
beating broner means nothing for garcia. everytime broner steps up comp he loses.. its just what he does. broner didnt get props or "daring to be great" talk when he leaped two divisions to fight maidana because he was disliked that much.. now its different. people see him abusing his body and doing clown sht.. Mikey is not only supposed to win but win big.. broner is a part time boxer.
Beating the sh1t out of AB doesn't make Mikey 'great'.
Its the type of fight that gives his profile the recognition it deserves.
He is a very, very good fighter and will show this over the next 18 -24 months.
Whether you think Broner is washed up or not he's still a recognisable name and worth the attention Garcia gets fighting him. I'd rubbish this fight, but I believe it's part of a plan to gain some leverage when he makes bigger fights in the future. If he turns in a good performance his esteem goes up....imo.
Tell you what, even if Mikey beats Broner - new guys like Usyk, Spence and Joshua still has better wins than anything on Garcia's resume in Glowacki, Brook and Klichko. I rate Mikey higher than them in p4p only because he's been consistent for a longer period of time
Crawford will school him at 140
Not really because Mikey and Broner are both around the same size. Only difference is Broner allows himself to get overweight/out of shape/fat. Broner is not a big puncher at 140. Mikey was moving up to 140 anyway. Broner is an average fighter who made a name for himself being a weight bully at 130.
No, because Broner is on the slide and only an above average fighter.
If he was moving to 140lbs, to fight Crawford that would be a different story. Still, I'm not criticising him for taking a huge money and profile opportunity, just noting this is not a particularly difficult fight for him.
... moving up (at 140) to fight Crawford, who wants to move up at 147?... doesn't make much sense...
... vs Zlaticanin, Mikey made $375,000 only... in three years and a half, Garcia only fought twice...
It's a more logical fight than Canelo-Khan or GGG-Brook. It's a bit of a risk against a larger, marketable opponent. But unlike those two other fights it's one he should be able to win.
If he wanted to be great he would move up and fight Crawford. Everyone wants to fight Broner because a) He's flawed and b) He has name recognition.
This is a money grab for Mikey.
It is a risky fight for him but if he wants recognition as a pound for pound best fighter as he says he does then these are the kind of risky fights he must take. He is only moving up 5 pounds. That's just a big steak dinner. He could prove his worth at 135 or 140 by fighting the best fighters at either weight. Broner is one of the better 140 pounders. Crawford is the best at 140 until proven otherwise.
Mikey is basically trying to get his name out there. I'd prefer it if he fought a live dog at 140 but hey, I'm not complaining as long as I get to see Broner get whooped again.
