What is that exactly? You see all this talk about REAL boxing fans on this site, but mostly it just seems that if you don't support the same fighters they do you are not a REAL boxing fan. Reading threads on here I am definitely not a hardcore boxing fan because I don't watch every single fight that is aired or can be seen on the internet like quite a few people on here. Though I do watch almost every fight card on HBO and Showtime and buy PPV's if they are worthy. I don't watch Friday Night Fights ever and I don't watch fight streams on the web unless it's a PPV I didn't feel like buying. Does this make me a casual fan?
Lmao A lot can happen in eight years! I’ve gone through quite a few girlfriends in that time, a couple I even lived with. Lol Time flies. I was looking at our exchange back then. Kind of weird, like looking at a time capsule. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to you, Dan.
Yep! A lot definitely does happen!!!
It's a modern day miracle it lasted 13 years :lol1: I'm better off single I think. Easier.
Same to you brother.
Yeah and now we are divorced :lol1: !!!!!

Dude, if one is genuinely interested and wants to ask, of course im all down. But i just dont like it when somebody asks me for the sake of asking. It’s pointless and time is money.
I know obscure fighters only because Im a hardcore boxing guy. That aint nothing to be proud of man.lol
All right fair enough, I hear ya. Sometimes people do the same to me but they usually regret it after I talk for like 10 minutes about something they didn't really care about to begin with. If I have time to be shooting the breeze that is.
:lol1: :lol1:
It's quite the opposite for me. She wants to get involved and wants to come and watch the fights with me but I refuse to take her because she talks all the way through it and drives me *****ing insane asking me who is winning every 2 minutes. I have only been with her for just over 4 years so she only knows the absolute basics merely from listening to me talk.
For example she will come out with something suprising like "Did Hopkins become the oldest Champion yet?" or something along those lines.
She also told her uncle I am going to meet Sugar Ray Robinson in a few weeks time in London  It was actually Sugar Ray Leonard..
:lol1:
What a gem of a thread this is.
Damn you sound like an enjoyable person to be around... Someone shows interest in something you like but you condescend to them because they don't know about some lesser known guys. You seem pretty proud of yourself that you know who Derevyanchenko is. And *GASP* what casual scrubs they must be for not knowing who Jack Culcay is. Get over yourself man.
You bumped an 8 year old thread to post this crap at least twice?
I mean maybe you could tell them a bit about them or explain why you think it's a good fight or worth watching to them and maybe they'll show more interest in it and tune it and talk about it with you.

Well Roger Mayweather himself said he doesn't really watch that much fights and doesn't know some of these boxers, so what do you call him? lol
Do you realise how dumb that is , he was a World Champion who spent his life inside the sport!
Casual fans dont understand the deeper aspects of boxing, they dont understand weight, match making, form going into fights, styles, conditioning, peaking, its a long list that casual fans have no clue about.
Casual fans are so into hype and hype is so into them, its easy to fool a casual fan because they dont know any better.
I also get very irritated when a casual or non boxing fan ask me who is fighting..
“Whose fighting?” They ask.. and i get annoyed because they wouldnt know these fighters anyway so why ask?
Like casuals are supposed to know who the fuk Sergiy Derevyanchenko is? So dont ask me.
I like to discuss boxing with hardcores only. If you are not a real boxing fan, dont fkin ask me questions about the sport.

Some of the responses here are hysterical. Calling someone a casual fan because they disagree with you is why many on this site lack the competence to even have a realistic boxing conversation. I have been a fan since the 70's. My first "favorite" fighter was Smokin Joe Frazier. I have attended many cards over the years and met many greats including Ali, Tyson, Larry Holmes, Julio Cesar Chavez, Sr. of course, and dozens of others. In the last three years alone I have attended probably 30 or more live shows from PBC, Top Rank, Dibella, Matchroom, Star Boxing, Murphy's boxing, etc. Do I think that Wilder is ducking Joshua? One of the hardest right hands in memory is ducking a glass jaw yet has fought Ortiz twice and is readying for a second Fury fight. Makes a lot of sense for the "non casuals", I guess. I'll proudly carry my casual tag to the next card that I attend in January.
Casual just means it's not a priority. So you spend the minimal time following the world of boxing.
It's all about the time you put into following and studying the sport. You can become casual tomorrow or hardcore depending on the time you put in.
Being a fan of the sport of boxing is also different then being a fan of an individual boxer. You can be a hardcore fan of GGG and not know there are other good boxers with different styles. They are still boxing fans but perhaps casual fans of the sport in general. Obviously they are not mutually exclusive. You can be a hardcore fan of GGG and Boxing in gernal.
I guess the only argument is, if you do dedicate all your time to learning the sport but can't retain or apply any useful knowledge does that make you casual or just dumb lol?
A few different meanings for casual fan I reckon.
Rexy , 1hour run , Lopez boxing , WBC,WBA etc and anybody who thinks wilder is not ducking Joshua
What’s up with Lopez Boxing though? That name has Boxing written all over it lol
Niga who is fighting? Btch Sergiy Derevyanchenko is facing Jack Culcay.
They look at me with this blank face cuz theyve never hear those names before so bth why even ask me? Why make me waste my breath?
I just dont like to talk boxing with casuals unless they really want to learn and get into it.
