His score card was also terrible. I never understand why people give a fighter a round because they are "pressing the action". Are they landing clean effective punches or are they not? That's the bottom line. Rigo was moving all over and tagging Nonito with clean, crisp shots. Nonito was either walking forward and hitting air or not throwing at all. It seems like some "journalists" were giving Donaire rounds because he was walking forward, which is utterly absurd.
I thought Rigondeaux gave a MASTERFUL boxing performance and made a guy with a high skill level look completely clueless in the ring. I enjoyed the fight.
People act surpised that Rigo fought the way he did. If you know anything about him then you wouldn't be suprised. The man is a master technician. Hit and don't get hit.
To what extent does Donaire get some of the blame for making the fight "not exciting"? He threw LESS than Rigo. And it wasn't because of his "shoulder" or "lack of preparation" or any other of the various excuses I've heard. He was flat out terrified about what was coming back at him ever time he threw a punch.
I can't remember the last time I've seen a Top 5 p4p guy in his prime not be able to do anything he wanted in the ring like that. He wasn't "pressing the action" or cutting off the ring or even throwing punches. He did absolutely nothing in there. Rigondeaux took EVERYTHING away and looked leagues above Nonito.
I would guess that Floyd told Team Canelo they have to choose between a 152 CW and a rehydration clause. That's probably all that went down. From Mayweather's perspective it makes total sense, and is probably less debilitating than a weight restriction on the day of the fight IMO.
That being said, I don't like Catchweights at all, and hope Canelo just comes in at 154. It gives people an excuse when Canelo is sucking wind at the end of the fight, and people will attribute his lack of stamina to the CW instead of the fact that Alvarez has shown TERRIBLE stamina in all of his fights.
There's no way this is happening. You couldn't sell this fight to hardcore boxing fans much less the general public.
Floyd hasn't taken an opponent this soft in years. Guerrero is a good fighter but he is unproven and 135 lbs. Marquez was P4P #2 in the world at least when Floyd made him come up.
My guess is that the article would have probably (indirectly) portrayed Pacquiao in a negative light, since it was probably going to talk about the ways Arum manipulates his fighters (I can't imagine what else this would be about). I remember his original tweet said something to the effect of "once this article is released no fighter will ever sign with Bob Arum". So it wouldn't be in Team Pac's best interest to release the article.
As far as the topic goes,
“You ask why Floyd is still hungry? He’s got it all. Well why Bill Gates still make them f-cking computers?”
hahaha YES. This is by far my favorite line. The best part about it is the expression Roger gives after he says that line, like "damn that was a great analogy". You could tell he was pleased with himself for that one haha.
lol, great. now we get to see chavez jr fight more safe fights...hoepfully its andy lee next and not margarito. i doubt it tho.
yep that's what we get now.
I don't think Tim "headbutt storm" Bradley has shown anything against his B level opponents that should make anyone think he has a chance against Pacquiao. Manny wins this fight easy IMO.
I'm sorry man but this fight is not happening anytime soon. It's not happening in May and its not gonna happen in Nov after Mayweather finishes his sentence. Boxing fans need to focus their energy elsewhere and get excited for future fights like Berto/Ortiz 2. Manny and Bob don't want to fight Floyd.
Who the f*** does Arum think he is? He's not fooling anyone. Mayweather has a CONTRACTUAL obligation. That means he signed a contract. That means Mayweather is fighting on May 5th in the MGM grand. And there is no reason Pacquiao shouldn't be the opponent.
