Yet this guy claims he's not bias?
He said Mayweather/Cotto was a "barnburner" and "one of the most exciting fights of Mayweather's career" yet Rigo damaging and schooling a Top 3 P4P fighter "boring".
These are the authorities we have to rely on for the sport? Guys who don't seem to appreciate the sweet science's purest practitioners? That bugs me.
If you don't appreciate defensive, counter-punchers, fine.
But...
1. Be consistent with that criticism. Dan would never label Mayweather/Hopkins/Ward as "boring" because he wants access to them. Give Rigo the same respect.
and
2. Don't label them as "boring" because guess what? Some of us actually enjoy watching guys like Rigo demonstrate superior skill and technique to mentally break down guys. That's exactly what he did...again....to a Top 3 P4P guy.
Disgusted by the treatment Rigo has got.
He's a fan of Willie Pastrano, who makes Rigondeaux, Hopkins and Mayweather look like a combination of Mike Tyson, Joe Fraizer and Alexis Arguello all rolled into one.
Okay, recent "boring" fighters then.
Actually, current fighters in general all suck for Ray Corso, it seems.
Actually, Ray Corso has proven to be very consistent about "boring" fighters. Hates Hopkins and Mayweather, hates them a lot.

Lol... you seem mad Donaire lost, cool. Everyone shows their true colors sooner or later.

If I was rigo I would be so pissed off. Give the dude credit he just beat a top 5 pound 4 pound fighter and he's getting slashed for it . Dan rafael doesn't understand and appreciate boxing if he thought it was a boring fight.
Why would Rigo care about a fat slob that tweets behind a computer and can't even get a slot on SportsCenter? He just made $750K and defeated a top 5 p4p fighter.
There is nothing Rigo needs to be pissed off about.

I thought that Kevin Iole's comments were even worse than Rafael. He pretty much trashed Rigo for his greatest win. Iole is a clown fanboy and more so than his Bobby the Brain Heenan avatar.
It was boring!!!! Rigo had Donaire mentally beat in the 9th on and never stepped it up until he saw Donaire whimper from his eye injury! This is a game of chances and to take a chance to stop a fighter when he's hurt is how you make fans! Playing it safe for the "sake of sceince" just gets stupid at times because its NOT just boxing its fighting that sells tickets. Ala MMA!
If Rigo can't get in and mix it up more often he won't sell tickets its as simple as that!! He makes Mayweather look like LaMotta hahashaha!!!
Fighters like Wilfred Benitez and Jimmy Young were very skilled also but neither of them were main event caliber on their names alone! Neither was willing to "make the fight" so they needed the top guys to fight to earn the better purse!
I know Rigo has high skills but I didn't need to watch 12 boring rounds against a guy like Donaire who didn't even train for the fight! Screw him!!!
I'm not spending my money to watch "track" at a "fight"! Ray.

Dan is very bias and unproffesional its as simple as that. I follow him simply because I am a fan of boxing. But he needs to stop letting his cats lick the cheetos residue from his fingers

Did you not see his tweets during the fight man? They were on another thread. Btw notice I said harsh between quotations, just for a lack of better word.
PS I'm not quoting you cause the quoting system on this app sucks and makes things confusing at times.

I don't mind him criticizing the fight or Rigo but when you criticize one of the most anticipated fights for the past year the way he did it makes you sound unprofessional. Like I said, he could've wrote an article and criticized it in a less harsher way.
I wonder what he thought of Martinez vs Chavez... That fight had more action and I thoroughly enjoyed the beating Chavez took but that fight WAS boring as sh1t. If that makes sense...
Let's just say I enjoyed Donaire vs Rigo more than Martinez vs Chavez and not cause I'm Cuban.

What was harsh about it?
Chavez-Martinez was boring as hell as well, it was a very similar fight with martinez using movement to keep Chavez confused. But at least he threw punches. Last nights fight has stretches where neither guy did anything for several rounds
Look at it in context. You have the top 2 guys at 122 fighting, and in the fight compubox shows Rigo averaged 10 of 33 and Donaire 6 of 29
When jr featherweights are throwing under 35 punches a round, odds are its going to be a boring fight. Even heavyweights are usually busier than that......

I just think its wrong for a writer to criticize a fighter and a fight like he did. He could've waited and put it on his article in much less "harsh" words.
Its whatever tho. I just think when you're involved in the sport like he is should be able to appreciate every style (excet Vasquez lol).

Whats wrong with it? He criticized it for being boring. Unlike what most think, writers in general are not robots who are required to write articles with no personal opinion, anybody can do that. He found it boring, so what. People are so insecure with Dan's opinions, its funny. Like i said before Floyd-Baldimor is considered an extremely boring fight but almost everybody, yet this isnt, why?

And he found the fight boring, why are people so obsessed with every word he said and his opinion. I dont see anything at all wrong with calling it boring. There was very little in terms of exchanges and action
