The main thing that I would do is cut down the confusion. Put it on less channels and more consistent times. Instead of doing a show on 5 channels in 5 weeks and a Thursday one week, then a Saturday, then a Monday; do a time buy for say Saturday nights at 9:00.
I would put all action packed fights that will bring in casuals on that weekly show on say Spike bc it has a high male viewership (reruns when you don't have a live show). Replace that occasionally with couple of big Saturday nights fights on NBC with top guys in top matchups and have a smaller third channel (fox sports or something) for up and comers, middle of the road guys and frankly guys who aren't drawing the numbers.
3 channels but keep the channels consistent, keep the times consistent and make sure people know what they're getting. If they watch NBC, they know they are getting a top level fight; if they watch Spike, they can expect action and the fox sports will be more for the hardcore fans.
If Spence Jr throttles Bundu, then he truly is "The Truth" and will be the fighter who emerges as the longterm ruler at 147 (until he moves up later in his career).
Leonard Bundu doesn't have a ton of miles on him (from what's been made available, it seems like he got a late start to boxing), has shown himself to be a real good crafty fighter, and has proven that he's world level (though Thurman basically skunked him in their fight, Bundu worked his way through the twelve rounds and didn't really get blasted out).
Bundu is that next test; if Spence blows through him, the only other guy I see even being near competitive with him, on sheer talent, is Kell Brook.
You're getting all of that from a fight with Bundu? Come on.
He very well might be the truth and he very well might emerge as the longtime ruler of the division but beating Bundu will not answer any of those questions. I fully expect him to blow through Bundu and doing so won't really tell me any more than I already know. It's a good fight for Spence bc it's way to get a shot at the title; it's nothing more.
I'm a Golovkin fan and I know this isn't his fault but come on, even the fans are waiting for a fight against a name guy. We went from Golovkin-Chavez to this? I new it was bound to happen, I don't think he's fought a mandatory since getting the belt.
I think Thurman beats Porter, but Porter would stylistically be a harder match-up for Floyd.
Porter will swarm Floyd non-stop for 12 rounds, he's a very skilled pressure fighter with a good jab, footwork etc. He's very good physically and athletically as well.
Thurman might try fighting at Floyd's pace and get outboxed imo. If he fights on the front foot and pressures Floyd though, he could give Floyd a very hard time as well.
I agree with this 100%. I think Thurman handles Porters pressure well and I'd favor him vs Porter. But I think his boxer-puncher style is more suited for Floyd. Porter's constant pressure would be more troubling for Mayweather
So is he a hypejob or is he good? Chino wouldn't ruin him, because Thurman can throw bombs while moving around on the backfoot. Chino is soft to the body too and you saw how Thurman's last fight ended.
You can be both. Some guys are good fighters but their hype exceeds their skill. Canelo is the perfect example, the boy can fight but anyone who knew anything about boxing knew that Floyd was going to box his ears off, yet the media and casual fans made it like he was going to beat him. Donaire also comes to mind, hes a good fighter but he got a ton of hype by knocking out undersized and old fighters. He was never a top 3 p4p guy like some rated him, but that doesn't make him a bad fighter
They could stage the fight outside Continental USA
That literally changes nothing, they don't own his rights to fight in or out of the country they own all television rights in the country. No matter where the fight takes place, it can not be shown on any other television channel other then HBO. That's why his Adama fight was broadcasted in like 300 countries but not the US. Once HBO said they weren't going to broadcast it, no one else had the opportuinty to. HBO is the only channel that can show his fights in the US no matter where the fight takes place.
Hardly as all the main exprts disagreed...from manny stewart, to dan rafael to even allan green, TO THE PRESS ROW..
Heres a round by round analysis, try and rebuttall his round by round analysis please..
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxWNh7QjoKo
Please rebutall it, please dirrell was bloodied, froch was unmarked...
Stop saying this, it is like the 5th time you said this in the thread and it literally means nothing. How many times has the guy who won a fight looks worse than the guy who lost. It happens all the time.
As far as Froch-Dirrell, it was one of the most pathetic fights I've ever seen, I wish both guys could have lost. Dirrell ran and hugged like a woman and still managed to look better than Froch who looked lost and had zero form or technique. He also fought ridiculously dirty and I'm pretty sure was never even warned. If Dirrell would have stepped on the gas earlier than the last 3 rounds he prob would have won. How it stands, the fight could have gone either way, they both sucked that night. Better that Froch won bc he at least has done something with his career since
Me personally I think there needs to be a big change in the boxing weights before the fight saga, its far too early to lose all that weight n rehydrate over night. I think they should have at least 48hrs before fight night, so rather than being weighed on a Friday night they should be weighed on a Thursday, this would allow a healthy rehydration period and present less risk for fighters on fight night.
I disagree. I think this will only further the problem you mentioned. They moved it back from day of weigh ins to day before so that people will be better hydrated for fights but all it did was have guys losing and gaining more weight. Yes they have more time to rehydrate but now they are just fighting in lower weight classes and using the time to rehydrate more.
I personally hate rehydration clauses (unless a guy misses weight). If you are willing to put in the extra work to get the weight advantage and can keep your promise to make the weight, then more power to you. On the other hand if you do try and get the advantage and mid-camp you decide its not worth it anymore and miss weight then **** you, I fully agree with adding a rehydration clause on you
Postol looked like he has really good boxing skills, but I question the chin. He was hurt twice to the head and also to the body by Aydin. I know Aydin can punch but he's also very basic. If Danny can be a little creative offensively he should be able to hurt him as well.
I don't think the fight ever gets made. This was the eliminator which means you won't see the WBC force a fight for at least a year and I think Garcia only fights 1 or 2 more times at 140. Plus the WBC is receiving sanctioning fees from a guy making 1.5 mil plus per fight, they don't want to take the chance the Postol becomes champion and makes under 100k per fight.
You are comparing his guarantee with floyd $8 mil (before ppv) with his total purse for Manny ($12 mil). Make a fair comparison.
Delvin made less than trout so it makes sense he made more. what do these totals have to do with floyd?
The point of Kim's post was saying he was right in not leaving top rank bc he likely would have made less money. Then I gave you an example of a guy (who you mentioned) who did leave and showed you how he made less money. Don't act like I'm pulling something out of the blue. Also way to avoid how obviously wrong you are in comparing Bradley and Cotto. You know exactly why he used Maidana as a comparison and not Miguel. Cotto brings in boatloads more money than Bradley and it would be completely illogical for Steve Kim to use him as a measure.
I'm nothing close to a lawyer nor do I claim to know a lot about laws, but I would think al haymon being a lawyer is smart enough not to get caught up in a situation that could get him sued and end up on the losing end. Kathy may have filed but that does not mean she has a valid case. if Shaffer and haymon did something legally shady, I would think they are smart enough to cover their tracks. whether or not what they did is morally shady is a whole other issue. its up to you to decide if you agree or disagree with them. I am interested in how this plays out.
Haymon isn't a lawyer. But I do believe he is smart enough to have a team of lawyers around him that would prevent him from being caught up in a situation like this. However Haymon's action have always seemed borderline illegal. Everyone has always suggested that the way he operates oversteps the law. He evades this by giving himself the title of "advisor" which is not licensed or regulated like managers and promoters
Why is no one talking about this?
Maidana the cash cow *****es.
Also puts Mayweather at 3 of the top 4 positions, outing Pac vs DeLa Hoya.
Maidana is a bigger draw then Pac.
Bc who gives a ****?
His last fight was #1, do we really care about #4?
thought guerrero mayweather did more like a million
According to steven espinoza it did, but every other source in the industry had it around the 750-800k mark. But to the best of my knowledge GB never released a number
That's not true. The number reported by most was 850k. Stop making crap up.
Relax tough guy, first off there were alot of reports which is why I didn't give an exact number and second, the fight took place a year ago and I'm going off memory. The point of the post was that the number reported by most was not 1 million
AGain, good use by Kim but why didn't he use Cotto's purse? that was $8 mil, which is more than $6 mil.
I'm sure you and the pac fans will go with the low figure for Maidana because it supports your arguement. Carry on.
Maybe bc he sells alot closer to Maidana than he does to Cotto? Cotto's purse was the exception against Mayweather bc he is a huge star. Do you want to make fair comparisons then compare Cotto's TR purses to his GB purses? He made $8mil to fight Floyd and $12 mil to fight Manny. He made $2mil to fight Delvin Rodriguez and $1 mil to fight Trout.
But the retarded logic you used supports your argument so carry on.
I'd like to see Marcus Browne make it big because he is from my hometown. He is an olympian, 23 years old and 10-0 (7ko), but one of his fights which was a very small step up, he already had a pretty tough time. He's looked better in his 3 or 4 fights since (again against still very weak opposition)
I'm not sold on this rumor. I saw a recent interview with Danny and Angel and they both said at least 1 more fight at 140 and the date is either July 26th or August 2nd. Unless they're just lying (which I guess is possible), it wouldn't make sense they are also negotiating this fight. It's too much to lose in a Mayweather fight in the event Danny loses or gets hurt or cut and even he none of that happens, the dates are too close.
he'd at least get 5. he received 3mill vs mathysse
He didn't make $3 mill for that fight. I can't find an article that cites exactly how much he made but most seem to say in the 1.5-2 mil range. I remember when they were negotiating the fight Garcia was saying if it's a big fight he should get big money but when the interviewer brought up the $3mil rumor and he laughed about it, saying he isn't asking that much. Rafael wrote an article (or said in his chat) the purses, I don't remember the exact number but I recall it being less than 2mil. I'd say he probably makes around $3-3.5mill for Mayweather if they fight. Only Cotto and Canelo have made more than that against Mayweather but they both did bigger numbers than I think Garcia would do
I think the most hilarious part about this thread is that I've seen that picture so many times after the herrera fight, and its really funny because that picture of garcia is actually from the garcia-morales I fight.
Trying their hardest to make danny look like he lost.
I had it a draw but whatever, haters gonna hate. 115-113 garcia or a tie wasn't a bad score. But I really didn't think herrera did enough to win.
Carry on with this thread with a picture of garcia thats NOT after his fight with herrera.
So Pacquiao fans are Matthyse fans? Makes sense..
Also if you want to use Danny picture after the Erik Morales fight to promote your brain dead agenda then you should close you fingers real hard with a car door.
Lmao where did you guys get this information? It clearly is from an interview from after the Herrera fight. The fight against Morales was 4 years ago and he's noticably older now also he had a broken nose after that fight and looked nothing like this.
Shambrolic, should you have your fingers closed real hard with a car door for saying something to promote your brain dead agenda?
Too many consecutive wars. Prescott, Herrera, Rios twice, Provo and now Marquez (less of a war, more of a beating). He needs 1 or 2 soft touches on undercards and then next year finish the Rios trilogy (Rios should do the same). Loser of that is more or less done, winner will prob get another big fight and payday
How so? How do you older guys/men judge a young teen boy's sexuality by the way he dresses on 24/7? It makes you 'fruity' as well in doing so. Nothing that he was wearing made him out to be 'fruity' or 'gay'. Grow the fuk up.
Come on man, check out that outfit 21:48 mixed with his hair, if that isn't "fruity" then idk what it. As soon as I saw that I thought wtf is this kid wearing. Also what does it matter how old the person is that says it, are you implying older people just don't get his style or something? I'm not an older guy/man saying this and Cotto's son is not a young teen, that kid is prob close to 20 which is close to my age and I thought the same thing when I saw him.
I wouldn't say lock just yet but assuming Ruslan retains his title in a week, he is going to already have a mighty strong case a little over half way through the year. Personally I think he made a much bigger statement in this fight than just being trainer of the year. I mean this guy took a fighter that looked shot about year ago and just made him the middleweight champion of the world, annihilating a top p4p fighter in the process. I know people sometimes hate on Roach but is there really any doubt that he is one of the top if not the top trainer in the world right now?
I’m aware of that, but at this age, I can’t see that baling him out, also if Cotto decides to go to the body like he did against Rodrigues, than there won’t be a second wind. Believe me I hop I’m wrong, I need to take a break from this forum, and I want Sergio to win.
Your worried about Sergio's stamina? Cotto has some of the worst late round stamina I've ever seen. Starting with the first Margarito fight; he was completely gassed by about round 6 in that fight, then Clottey stopped punching at the end of that fight so it's hard to judge that one, he was a sitting duck late against Pacquiao, Mayorga was a joke, against Floyd he looked great in the middle rounds and completely gassed the last 3, and imo lost the Trout fight bc he lost the last few rounds. The guy's stamina is garbage past round 8 or 9.
Thing about this is he's trying to fight a GOAT and he went with who's gonna pay the most, so he's ducking.......on the other hand Manny flat out said no to Mayweather because he wanted more money and thats not ducking? And no one knows the russian but everyone knows Hopkins. You want him to fight Kovalev he wants to fight an atg I dont see a problem, they are gonna fight sooner or later so I see no problem with him wanting to fight better competition as opposed to a fight with Kovalev. How is he ducking and Manny is not?:boxing:
Lol are you serious about the Manny question? You're talking about what would be the richest fight in the history of the sport and you think he's ducking because he got offered a flat fee? Please, reverse the situation, offer Mayweather the flat fee and see if he "ducks" or not.
As far as Stevenson, I think the ducking talk is more because of how he speaks about Kovalev than his move to Showtime. People thought that he was scared of him (due to his post fight interviews) before he left HBO and then moving to Sho cemented it in some people's mind. Then he started trash talking once the fight couldn't be made
Matthysse should rematch John Molina.
I'd watch it because of how action packed the first one was but are you saying that fight should happen instead of the Garcia rematch? Matthysse beat Molina about 8 rounds to 2, Garcia beat a one eyed Matthysse about 7 rounds to 5, which one is more deserving of a rematch?
