Fury has improved greatly in conditioning alone and a small amount in his fighting where as judging by last night Wladimir has digressed so I would not be suprised if Fury could beat Wlad by the end of next year just saying
ESPN can't show actual footage or they get sued I believe people also got tired of not seeing big fights that rarely happen ABC used to show fights every week on wide world of sports and big fights at that but it all went to HBO and SHOWTIME and for the average fan to come back they need either free fights to watch and or big names facing off for free not PPV that might bring back casual fans and popularize more names and make espn cover more
funny that you bring up the Nelson Whitaker fight one is my avatar one in my signature huh I guess I watch that fight at least once every other month I can even do the play by play call with the announcers
Whitaer Vs Nelson he did the last 6 rounds with a broken hand and still won 10 rounds
140lbs Whitaker only fought 3 times I believe but he was at what I believe to be at his best flat footed still imposible or near to imposible to hit and he was in top shape throwing 80+ punches a round and never even breathing hard you could also make the argument that he never lost a round at that weight Whitaker by an extremely lopsided decision
Its a great fight , and really gives a look at contrasting styles , very similar to how Floyd beats Manny also , brilliant gifted boxers like Whitaker and Floyd will box Mannys ears off.
I agree and never understood why Floyd never fought manny he would have won and his credibility would not have takin the hit it did
does whitaker got a good chin?
Whitaker had a great chin despite what people think some say he had no chin some say it never got tested both are wrong he was an aggressive defensive fighter who would throw a whole lot of punches he got hit because you can't throw 80 punches a round and not get hit I only saw him wobbled bad once by Mayweather and it took an uppercut when he was on his knees that almost stood him back up to do it
What would Wilfredo Rivera or Hurtado think? Check out his fight with Jorge Paez for some amazing defence by Jorge Paez, only man that I know of to make Whitiker look clueless at times and that never happened much in his early career (but I only got to see his career in the later stages the 90's on).
He had gotten soft by the time he fought the first 2 and as far as Paez goes I agree with part of what you say in that Paez gave him as good of fight as he had in his prime but didn't even come close to making him look clueless he tore Paez up after he figured him out and won most of the early round while he was figuring him out if anything it was Whitaker trying out a new style of fighting that made him look at all awkward he pulvirized Paez to the body all fight and used the uppercut to perfection
Pacquiao couldn't hit Bradley when he was doing the funky chicken...so Whitaker would be a nightmare. But when would Whitaker hit him...since he'll be break dancing all night????
late in his career Whitaker was not fast enough to slip multiple punches and counter like early in his career later it was one or the other He would absolutly punish manny after about round 3 the first three would be close then the fun would start for sweet pea its just the way he fought the better the opponent the longer it took him to get going and figure the guy out but once he did he cruised I give manny 3 rounds tops
If beating Tyson Fury = title shot I am gonna punk in my shirt and eat it later for dinner how does beating a skilless punk equate to anything but a good laugh I do believe Haye should get a shot at both Klits and hope he does but Fury is Garbage
Unless he fights Pacquiao or moves up after Canelo, he might as well. He's probably getting to be the most boring champion of all time with his current run.
do you know what boring means in boxing it means to good for your opponent Pernell Whitaker was criticized as boring and so is mayweather because they are so dominating when he is still dominating why retire and people can say he never fights anyone that can beat him true but people pay to see him dominate anyone so why give up the green as long as he trains hard and keeps treating his body like a temple or shrine he should be good for some time regardless if he wins or looses to Canelo he will continue to box and win and make more money every fight than I will ever make in a lifetime
I have never been a mwyweather fan in the least bit but damn he is good at boxing and great at making big money fights
if Judah is still focused and in shape he wins easy against Broner and I do see it as a fight that should be made reguardless of judahs lose he will have a win by then anyway vs Pauli broner needs some more experience to beat Judah
Zab would certainly be a step up who isn't after Pauli but zab needs a belt before it would even be considered
I think at any other time the fight would have been more of a white wash thus that was the best Cotto could have ever done period he gave a reasonably good performance and at no other point in their careers would it have been any closer
Beer, beer and more beer....got some oysters going on, soft shell crab a whole bunch of other food, meat, meat, bbq.
oh shnit I got a half gallon of oysters I could eat might as well I woulda forgot them in my mushroom fog I am taping the fight just incase I don't remember it that way I got something to do tomorrow when I am sitting with an icepack on my head
Are you an old man?.
Get the beers cracked chav and stay up.
don't feel bad chav I live on the west coast of the US and I am gonna go take a nap now its only 4:20 here as good a time as any
Drinking a nice cold tecate as we speak. Got some pork cooking for carnitas tacos and some homemade spicy salsa. May be cooking the mexican but I got Mayweather on this one...
also who ya'll saying you're not eating dinner? like :wtf:
meth its whats for dinner?
yeah he can make most weights 135lbs would be a struggle 147lbs easy but ballooning up like he is will take its toll soon he won't be competative in his mid 30's like his hero who works hard and always has he might even be out of boxing by 33 years old if he keeps up this shnit his skills will go slow when he's young but around 28-30 years old he will start slowing noticably and won't be able to even make 147lbs and I am thinking any higher than that he will be in to deep Martinez would slaughter him like the pig he is becoming
I've been doing hippie speedballs all day Coffee and some cones I rolled up about 10 of em I might need to roll a few more though and I been snacking on a bag of mushrooms for an hour now I got some Cognac and 4 32oz St Paulie Girls chillin the only beer with cleavage gotta love it and who needs food I am gonna feel like shnit tomorrow anyway why give myself the ****s too
they will rematch at 147lbs in another year and a half maybe two I would rather see Garcia vs Kahn rematch than that again kahn is workin out his neck and wants some more GARSH
I think its the potential that excites people because footwork can be taught so can boxing power and speed are two things that can not be improved all that much that and the KO also gets people excited but when these guys step up in class of opponent they are generally exposed as one dimentional by superior boxers who have all the tools and also have better chins than the guys that are being laid flat by the big punchers
Right. I say "only three pounds" but of course that's about 2.8% of their body weight. Just thinking of the three of them combining for nine fights ... man, that would have been amazing.
I know we had three of the 9 I am only 37 but six more might have been to much for my heart to have taken
For sure. That could have been an era-defining series of fights. The Carbajal-Chiquita fights were, as it is. God ... I'm getting a pit in my stomach just thinking about the fact that they were only three pounds apart.
the only problem is three pounds go's a long long ways at that weight I think all of them win at least once against the others in trilogies
Yes, absolutely agree. Why anybody ever ranks him ahead of Tunney is beyond me. Tunney was clearly superior, but Dempsey was a star.
Among my other unpopular opinions:
As much as I love JMM, he didn't get robbed in any of the Pacquiao fights.
Broner won't be able to cut it against top opposition at 147.
Call me absolutely crazy, but I'm still having a hard time buying Danny Garcia. He's a real fighter, a real champion, and tough as nails, no doubt. I give him credit. But I still think Khan takes him in a return bout.
Ricardo Lopez is the greatest Mexican fighter of all time.
Ricardo Lopez had as complete a skill set as anyone in boxing history, on par with SRR.
Pacquiao's style still creates all sorts of problems for Mayweather. In the unlikely event that the fight ever occurs, it will be extremely competitive. At worst, Pac would be a great value pick.
Pavlik-Taylor I ought to be placed in the pantheon of the greatest fights ever.
Harry Greb was great, but terribly overrated by most. He belongs somewhere behind Barney Ross and Sandy Saddler, roughly that neck of the woods.
wow those might be unpopular opinions somewhere but not in my world you were reading my mind
WOW...had Finito moved up and beaten the likes of Chiquita and Carbajal, that argument might have more legs
I agree with this the three of them are all in my top ten personal favorites and would have been an awesome round robin
Lucas Matthysse, Kieth Thurman, & even Robert Guerrero any of these would be a good start but one win won't legitimize him in my eyes I would like to see him fight Garcia or even Kahn any 2 wins out of those 5 would do it for me maybe even Judah
The pac fight is there win or loose with Bradley and I am not sure how much he'll get for this one but the pac fight will be good $$$$'s win or loose with Bradley so if he fought Pac first and looses then his next fight won't be worth as much I think his best bet would be Bradley if he looses then pac If he wins fight someone else and continue untill he looses then take the $$$'s from a pac fight people will pay for that one 5 years from now it is easily promoted his stock with regards to another fight will not get higher with any outcome of a pac fight can only go down or at best stay the same so take the other fights while your stock is up
watch haugens ring walk vs JCC in Mexico City sure he was talking **** about Mexicans but he got bombarded with bags of shnit and his robe was soaked with cups of piss as well you can see it flying at him and it was a long walk through 135,000 people over 100 yards of golden showers
