What are some of your unpopular boxing opinions?

-Pacquiao won the first 3 fights against Marquez Manny should have won he first Marquez fight. The fight was close but the 3 knockdowns were just killer for Marquez. The second was the closest imo but I think the knockdown sealed it for Manny. The third fight was the least close imo, that was the only one of the 3 I thought Manny clearly won by multiple rounds. It was close through about 9 but Marquez stopped throwing punches the last few rounds. -Everyone says a loss isn't a big deal yet most guys go from overrated to underrated after one loss (Canelo, Matthysse, Broner, Mares) - I've always thought Mayweather was superior to Pacquiao but I think 2009-2010 Pacquiao could win a fight due to his much greater output of punches. Man it's a shame that fight didn't happen. - Someone stated it earlier but Margarito absolutely did take Manny's prime - Margarito is not a cheater. The evidence against him even in the fight he was caught is so small, I don't think he deserves a shadow cast over his whole career. -Cotto was lucky the second fight with Margarito was stopped, he was on his way out and if that fight goes about 2-3 more rounds, Cotto gets stopped -Chavez Jr may have no respect for the sport but the boy can fight -Nonito Donaire is the most overrated fighter I've ever seen and I've been saying it since long before the Rigo fight (it payed off I won about $200 on Rigo) -Donaire vs Mathebula had some of the most criminal scorecards I've ever seen and no one ever mentioned it. Donaire was outlanded in the first 10 rounds until Mathebula got injured. I scored it 1 point for Donaire because of the KD but the judges had it like 11-1 plus the KD. Absolutely insane -Mayweather currently has the worst fans in the world. His and Pacquiao's fans were neck and neck until Pac got KO'd now it's no competition

Hopkins clearly beat Calzaghe. I didn't even think it was close. Hopkins was landing and Calzaghe was missing. That was the whole story of the fight. Calzaghe can't break through Hopkin's legendary defense, are you kidding? Calzaghe threw like a million punches, but only 5% landed. And 1% landed on Hopkins' crotch.

Edwin Valero was a great citizen, father, husband, and a hero to all humanity.

i agree with the whole drugs thing, in fact when a boxer test positive i dont hold them against them, because i know everyone is using something. the only thing they did wrong was getting caught

I would be amazed if most top fighters haven't used banned drugs at some point. The benefits are significant, the rewards are obvious, the chances of getting caught are almost zero.

what about floyd? He started at 106.He was also 16 at the time. Unless I'm mistaken, he fought most of his early pro career at 130, and he's never really been known for his brutal beatings or knockouts at welterweight. But no, I wouldn't be too shocked if it turned out he was taking PEDs. As I say, I'd be more surprised to find out that any top fighter isn't juicing than when I read about them getting caught. It's a business, and the top executives need their star attractions in the ring and bringing in money, dirty or not. It's in everybody's interest if we all turn a blind eye. I should point out that I'm fairly neutral in the whole Floyd/Pac war (I would like to see them fight though.) It's a business at the end of the day.

That the sport of boxing (best fights been made) should come before the money and fighters taking safe fights. I got red Ked for making a thread on this. nsb seems to have a lot of promoters and soccer mums posting on here.

Amir Khan can beat Lucas Matthysse, which really shouldn't be unpopular tbh, but oh well.

Pacquiao has been juicing since the De La Hoya fight at the very latest. Anyone who has no problem with a former flyweight knocking out career top-10 welterweights is being deliberately blind. I'm genuinely surprised every time a boxer tests negative for PEDs. Tyson made his name beating up bums and faded champions, and got found out every time he faced decent opposition. Boxing is an entertainment business first and foremost, and Klitschko/Ward/Rigo/whoever have no basis for complaint when they don't get the recognition they (or their supporters) feel they deserve.

The inherent structure of boxing renders its biggest problems completely unfixable in the absence of strong government intervention. Any individual sanctioning body, network, promoter, or commission trying to make the sport better will simply be undercut by a competitor who'll undermine those efforts for their own gain.

nobody ducked Marquez, JMM/Nacho priced themselves out of fights with stars who were indeed willing to fight him despite having shamelessly ducked him at the time by trashing his WBC title belt, 92 Bowe woulda beaten 92 Lewis Holmes and Spinks were both past it but not shot in 88, so Tyson does deserve some props for knocking them out Winky Wright won the 12th rd vs Taylor and deserved a win, not a draw Bradley's sum is greater than his parts, he's a good fighter but in terms of skills he is not a good boxer Wlad Klitschko is an ATG Sergio Martinez is overrated as hell

Ortiz was doing great against Mayweather. People think Mayweather outclassed him which is not true.

I feel like Manny Pacquiao is a hype job.

That a lot of PPV fights are fixed is some way, fighters getting paid off to lose, refs getting paid to score it for a certain fighter, and that boxing is starting to resemble the WWE.

Marquez vs Bradley was a very close fight that could've been scored for both sides and I wouldn't mind the rematch. SRL vs Hagler wasnt even close, I had it 8 - 4 for Sugar There was no robbery in 2nd and 3rd Pacquiao vs Marquez fight. Pacquiao deserved to win. I think he should win the 1st one also.

Pac's rise was not natural...at all

Many people say Maidana has improved a lot, however I don't see much of an improvement. If one watches his four fights after the Alexander loss, you would see he still gets hit a lot and Broner at times was actually out boxing him.

Maidana beat Morales fair and square. Just because Morales didnt get killed in a few rounds they pretended what they wanted to see that old Morales was back. Hopkins beat Calzaghe. Judah is probably one of the greatest gate keepers of all time Kirkland, Lara, Cotto, Martinez, GGG, Paul Williams would have all knocked Canelo out. Pernell Whitaker is easily one of the top 5 fighters of all time. Miguel Cotto is the most exciting but for some reason hated on fighter in all of boxing. Never has been in a boring fight yet people always want to call him a shot bum since the Pac loss even though he gave Floyd the most damage hes ever recieved in a fight. Bernard Hopkins is a top 3 middleweight of all time. Marquez is the greatest mexican fighter ever and would have knocked Morales out Lennox Lewis was boring as hell and would have been KOd by Prime Tyson and Foreman I agree with this. The math is easy , there's only 3 guys who could ever beat them, and they're all retired, this means Wlad and Vitali are ATG's no matter what.

I don't think Chavez-Whitaker was a robbery. I scored it for Whitaker 7-5 but had no problem with fight being a draw
