I had picked Cotto to win and thought he had a chance of winning by KO. But I think I'm in the minority here - I didn't give a single round to Cotto in this fight. After the fight his actions were disappointing when he left the ring as he did. Trout really rose up to the occasion and made me a fan tonight.
I'm disappointed that Amir didnt put him to sleep. He just couldnt land a solid follow up after that beautiful jab. But yea, enjoyed it while it lasted. I'm sure Paulie will be screaming PEDs again tomorrow tho.
Greg probably fixed it up coz Manny doesn't talk as cleanly as its written. But I believe it captures the gist of what he was trying to say.
Amazing how things change. At one time, he was very anti-Manny and a Floyd kok-sucker but I think he broke up with Floyd recently.
Floyd is scared so it wont happen unless Manny agrees to 0 day OST, tie his left hand behind his back and wear a blindfold. Yes, I'm sure those new demands will come once Manny agrees to all the current ones.
I say fight Marquez and hang 'em up. He's got nothing else to prove. This is assuming he wins on Sat. If he loses, he should retire coz he can't be a boxer and a congressman at the same time so might as well focus his energy on politics.
A much better episode than the previous 2. But as commented earlier above, the intensity in Shane's camp was missing. Either they are not showing it for some reason (maybe upon Nazim's request) or Shane's workouts just arent as intense as Pacquiao's which may not be a good thing for Shane. And oh yea, Shane's gal is HOT! If he gets tired in the fight, you can guess why.
If the fight never takes place people will remember Floyd's initial OST demand (never asked for one before), his antics, his accusations without proof, the racial slurs and for making a mockery out of the sport at the expense of boxing fans especially after claiming it to be an easy fight.
Infact, most professional boxing writers and people with half a brain know already that Floyd has done everything to avoid the fight, including denying negotiations ever taking place at one time when we know what the facts are today.
Behind the scenes, I feel that a lot of boxing writers and commentators are afraid of turning on a 'fellow American' at the moment because Floyd may be America's last image of an elite level fighter therefore he is somewhat protected. And while Floyd has his 0, his claim to be the best is secure. However, should he fight with Pacquiao and lose, he would be exposed and everyone will jump on him, especially if he is beaten badly or KO'd. For Pac, win or lose, the impact to him is minimal coz he's already accomplished way above and beyond but for Floyd, there will be lots of answering to do. Floyd has little to gain and everything to lose - and that's why he ain't risking it. How can one be a fan of that?
And when the time has passed and the story be told, the 'good' will prevail over the 'evil'.
I almost threw my drink at the TV I was so mad at Mosley for his hugging and glove touching and for Pac to reciprocate. I'm glad Freddie caught that and it should be a lesson learnt for Pacquiao not to do that again.
And, saying Shane Mosley was a disappointments is a huge understatement.
Pac nor any other fighter I know has refused to do the testing set up by the commission. The commission is the authority when it comes to testing, not individual fighters.
If you want Pac or anyone else to do blood testing, then bark at the commission, not the fighters. If that is in place and someone is still refusing, then you are entitled to raise this question. I dont know how many times this has been discussed here but this sh!t is getting annoying now.
I also think he is gonna get tattoo'd like Gatti. No head movement from Ortiz and he will eat those pot shots all night long. Ortiz only has a punchers chance but I don't think he has one punch KO power for Floyd.
Great numbers considering the economy.
For all those that give Floyd full credit for the previous 1.4mil buys, newsflash... Floyd wasn't the main attraction.
I would still like to see JMM vs Pacman. The fighters can come in anywhere up to 147 lbs maximum so I don't understand what the fuss is about. I think both will come in around 143 lbs so its not an unfair advantage/disadvantage to anyone. After watching JMM go down tonite, Pac puts JMM down a few more times if they do it again and maybe send him into retirement.
he just fought for a meaningless 154 vacant belt at a catchweight.
he fought for a lame , made up diamond belt at 147.
don't tell me he's not interested in titles.
that's just bull****.
marquez's lineal title is the real title.
not a meaningless paper belt he fought for against diaz , cotto and margarito.
Maybe but he cannot make 135 so why are you even bringing it up? Its a moot point.
135 for marquez's lineal title.
also makes it more fair to jmm.
I dont think Manny is interested in JMM's 135 lb title so why should he go down to 135? I seriously doubt he can make 135 anyway. If JMM wants the fight he has to go up but its not like Pac will be much bigger than him.
i didn't say he has to.
that's what i want.
no interest in a 135 lineal/ring title huh?
what diamond belt or vacant belt should he go for next then?
Pac is nearing the end of his boxing career so I don't think he is interested in any more titles other than securing an ATG status and that is the only reason Floyd gets mentioned every time. The two best fighters of this era. If Pac and Floyd fight gets made, that would be Manny's last fight as he has accomplished every thing else and more. But Floyd is on vacation indefinitely so we get to entertain other options. :)
he can make 135.
cut what 10 lbs? 11? 12?
he use to cut way more than that.
How do you know he can make 135? There has been no evidence of that recently. Cut the crap. If JMM wants the fight, he has no choice but to move up. end of argument.
This fight was a real letdown to say the least - Alexandra...what a cry baby and a wus. This guy is a pretender man. Bradley is leagues behind to challenge a Pac or Floyd. It will be road-kill if he fights Pacman. These guys are a hype job and the public is not stupid either coz if it weren't for the free tickets there would have been less than 3000 ppl there.
I'll give Bradley a chance against Maidana but Khan beats Bradley on points.
Longshot for grandpa Mosley but I hope he puts up a better fight than what he did with Floyd. If the undercard is not attractive enough, I may pass on this.
Great payday for Mosley.
As dopey as Mayorga is, I still enjoy watching his fights. Looking forward to this one especially if he comes in with proper training. If he does, it may be a tough fight for Cotto as long as it lasts.
So much for no one wanting a 4th fight. On the contrary... THANK YOU for the 4th fight!!! Fans who passed over this one missed something special.
Just an incredible ending - sudden death! Big Congrats to Marquez.
The way it happened (punch seems to snap his neck) I thought Pac had died...and with all the chaos breaking out it was scary. Luckily he was OK but Marquez got himself the KO of the Decade --- "Champion of the decade" belt seems very appropriate for tonight!!!
Great career but time for Manny to hang 'em up and maybe Freddie too.
