Good fight, yes. Unification fight, yes. Fight between 2 of the top at superlightweight, no. The chasm between these 2 and Crawford isn't even funny. Burns would get this fight back in Glasgow and will get a home town decision if it's close. Tough fight for him though, don't really know anything about the Namib but that was a class knock out of the Rusky.
i actually gave ward round 1 and 2 was only 10-9 since ward dominated the first 2 minutes and 30 seconds. yeah ok he got caught with the only flush punch kovalev landed in the entire fight but so what. some people focus on clean punches too much and not enough on ring wardsmanship.
You've got a fair point there. That's why I scored the 2nd round 10-10. Anyone can knock someone down if you catch them flush but it's a lot harder to get up and see out a round after going down. So I scored -1 for Ward getting bowled over but I scored him +2 for getting up and seeing out the round.
Saw an interview on Utube, Malignaggi and Macklin along with Adam Smith interviewing Ward straight after the fight. I genuinely thought we were about to witness a ****in gangbang right there - they fawned all over him. Macklin quote: "Yes Andre, I actually gave you rounds 3, 4, 5 and 6..." Seriously, that's what he said. If he gave him those, then he would clearly have given him the last 6 also. Best case scenario for KK on his score card would be 117-110. What a ****in embarrassment. He should have had his SKY contract ripped up right there in front of the camera. That's it, I'm programming the mute button to kick in for all SKY boxing broadcasts from now on.
What does that say about Ward's p4p status then. Ward exposed, not the fighter everyone has been spinning. If he gets a fair call from the judges he doesn't need to do anything else. He's been in with Ward, heard all the hype beforehand and then finally found out there's no big deal. He'll go in and dominate the next fight.
"You have the two best middleweights in the world going head to head for the majority of the belts". What belt does Jacobs have!! Every GGG fight is for the majority of the belts. Good fight but enough with the hype ****. Around about now, Saunders is due to fire in with some comment like "....unless you have faced me you haven't faced one of the best". Strip that f***ker's belt. Even his trainer has now had enough of him and left because he won't waste his time on a great, fat, waste of space.
This guy is highly rated across all the organisations but that's just a reflection of the lack of depth of quality fighters at middleweight. As a mandatory you'd have to say it's acceptable but the guy doesn't exactly look like a world beater.
Eubank Sr, English, Controversy or whatever he calls himself these days is a complete twat. He would argue that black was white and actually manage to convince himself that it was really the case. Unfortunately for Jr he's a lock in with the genes and so he's completely ****ed - I mean it can't be easy to tell your dad to f** off. 24 fights, 1 opponent of note (and not that great at that) and he lost that. Yet, he's unbeatable from 160-175 and would wreck GGG. FFS. There's hyping a fight and talking absolute ****. Guess where In place him??!
Mr Khan, you will never win another world title again - your finished, history, washed up,....... since when were you mandatory for the winner of Spence/Brook? Idiot. Brook really needs to move on now. After his last battering he needs to get back in the ring and kick start what's left of his career before it's too late.
At the press conference between Fury and Vlad, Fury was seen to take his top off and show everyone his bulbous mid-section...
Anyone think this perhaps may have been a distracting tactic from the doping allegations?
Nope, he's just a fat c*** in between fights.
That dumb**** English seems to be getting himself a right old reputation for being a c*** in negotiations and seems like he's at it again - does he really think that SKY is to blame if it doesn't happen, no-one's believing that. We all know the real story behind this.
Tommy Langford 's a nice guy but Tommy Cooper would have a better chance of beating Eubank Jr. What is nice to see though is the how badly Jr's career is being handled. His old man really needs to get the f*** out of there and let the pros in. His son would already be holding the WBO belt with someone decent in charge - ok, so it would only last until he steps in with the mini Krusher but at least he'd be right there in the mix and right now! Instead, he's fighting Tommy Steele (he's a ****ney dancing boy from many decades gone by https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAAxMtzaipo). He's gong to need those dancing feet to avoid a serious humbling here.
I actually think the MW division gives the impression of being weak because:
1. The top MW is so far ahead of the rest that he makes the others look bad;
2. The others are so s*** scared of the no. 1 that it magnifies the lack of talent.
jacobs' time is almost up - wba will force the mandatory between super and regular champ before year end. ggg and jacobs both fighting in september so unless jacobs decides to walk away - and hence give up belt - then he's going to have to fight him soon. let's face it, without that belt jacobs has nothing (even though everyone knows that belt ain't worth ****.
Hearn himself said that Jr was offered the same deal that Joshua and Froch both got for their PPVs. That he was even offered that level of deal appears more than generous considering his standing in boxing. I don't see any reason for Hearn to lie and have yet to hear from Sr. However, based on commentary from various other promoters about dealing with English, this sounds pretty typical. English clearly seems to have a highly inflated opinion of himself. He needs to step back and let the professionals get on with it.
Ward could definitely take this one, there is no doubting his pedigree but Kovalev is a bit special and this will be far and away Ward's toughest of his career. Ward can only win on a very close decision - impossible for him to stop the Krusher. Kovalev however, on his game, can win this comfortably. I don't expect him to stop Ward but what a great fight.
i don't mind Warren generally speaking, but ffs he sounds so bitter at times. Joshua has only had 16 fights. He's fighting unbeaten, hungry fighters and is going to get to the huge fights within 3 or 4 fights. Give the guy a break.
U can't be serious. The Mexican ****bag, who wouldn't fight GGG at 160 because he's "not a middleweight", but he'll fight that other ****bag BJS, who also bottled it against GGG, at middleweight!! WTF. And once Canelo wins that, what next? Does GGG line himself up a shot for that belt and Canelo walks away from that one also. All these ****ers should be sent to one of those doping agencies because theymust all be on some serious smack.
garcia's just back and needs to settle in and fight his weight - he looked like he could lose a couple of pounds so 135 is looking good. stay away from bud though. that guy is just too talented. at 140 he plays with anyone that wants a shot. we need to wait and see if he grows into a proper 147. thing is there isn't much comp. at 140 which might force him higher a little earlier than he naturally would but the greats have been doing that for decades so if he wants to be a great....
Khan is highly over rated. Garcia will beat him and I don't think Garcia is all that. Thurman would beat Garcia as would Brook. I mean, Peterson f****ed Garcia over and that was as blatant a robbery as you will ever see. So Khan maybe creeps in at the low end of the top 10 WWs.
if you can't see that crawford is an outstanding boxer, i can live with that but why the f*** does he have to beat WWs to be a special boxer - when he moves up to WW - and he will - then you'll realise that this guy is a special talent. Right now he would make broner look very average - that is not a good match up for broner. unfortunately for crawford there is no one even close to him at junior ww that is even a half interesting challenge. don't know where he goes from here.
This guy is a bull butnot much more. Obviously got heavy hands and he did finish him off well but just look at how he charged out at Fonfara in the first minute - and got caught a couple of times as well. Think he would take a beating from any decent LHW with good skills. Time will tell.
We all know what's going to happen in the rerun. That'll go to Ward again because Kovalev didn't do enough to tear the 3 belts away from Ward!! On this showing, I'm afraid Kovalev doesn't stand a chance - he either has to knock him out (possible but not likely) or he has to knock him down 2/3 times. If this fight was anywhere except the US it would have been a comfortable win for KKK.
This is not going to be a street brawl - that's 3 rd max for Brook. Brook has been sparring "bigger guys" - I've seen 2 spars, Liam Smith and Liam Williams, they're both light MW. I hope these aren't the only "heavier" guys he's been fighting. Looking forward to it. Think there is very little chance that Brook wins this but I'm keen to see just how he fairs.
That's a bit close to Xmas, the seats by the exits might already be gone on the flights to NZ. Where's Ruiz going to put the stomach?? Might have to put him in the hold.
I have never seen GGG look as gaunt as he did in the final press conference which was a little strange. However, he was only 6ibs over the limit 30 days out so it's not like making the weight could have killed him. I suspect for Brook fans it's all about looking for any edge, because that Brook fella is going to needs a serious edge - he's getting f*****. First few rounds will look competitive. Round 4 it starts to become obvious that there is only one winner. TKO after 8 rounds, Brook pulled out by his corner.
GGG would destroy him, Eubank beats him second time around and I'd fancy Jacobs to beat him also. His conditioning has always been poor, it's just the way he is. Don't see that ever changing. He's just after a cash in and will continue to fight nobodies until he secures it.
That was a decent fight but that Sosa's a strong SOB. He would win the return wherever it was held - even the 'pool. Hearn's only trying to do his job, so you can't knock him for trying to get Smith another crack at it. It's just like the Crolla fight. Crolla was well beaten but somehow Hearn has him in there again. Linares shouldn't rematch him, should go try unify the division - unfortunately there's a rematch clause so that's not going to happen in the near future.
Everyone knows that Groves got destroyed in the sparring right? Knocked down, beaten up,..... I know he wasn't in great nick for the sparring but FFS, don't go slagging off someone who just made you look an arse.
