CHRIS EUBANK JR's dream of facing Gennady Golovkin (35-0, 32KOs) hangs in the balance today. The British champion's promoter Eddie Hearn has already agreed a deal with Golovkin's manager Tom Loeffler for a shot at the undisputed world middleweight champion. Click Here To Read More]
No, you failed to understand what I was saying and why. I originally replied to a foolish comment about Golovkin having an easy time landing on Ward. I was NOT picking out flaws in the man or bashing him. Just stating facts to help explain why it's unrealistic and why those knowledgeable about the sport give Golovkin little chance. I don't give a damn about some superman vs mighty mouse arguments. I'm not playing fan wars so it doesn't matter to me whether Ward is bigger and it's a fair fight. I think Ward might lose to a prime Calzaghe if that helps prove my point about not playing fan angles.
I've never seen a place that railed so hard against common sense as this forum.
My comment made perfect sense. I never said GGG would have an easy time hitting Ward, but he will hit him quite a bit. More than anyone else Ward's faced because he's a better boxer than anyone Ward's faced. How is that foolish? Who exactly gave GGG little chance? I've been following this closely since the beginning and I don't recall anyone "knowledgeable" implying it'd be a walk in the park for Ward.
Golovkin's fought the way he has because of who his opponents have been. He's outlanded them by huge margins and barely lost a handful of rounds in the process. Yet, to you, that's somehow a flaw. Does it mean he can do the same to Ward?...no. Does it mean he'll fight the same fight against Ward?...no. But do you honestly think Froch or Kessler are technically better offensive fighters than GGG? Golovkin IS a great counterpuncher -- you're simply wrong. It's pointed out in most of his fights and there are videos online illustrating it. Maybe part of the reason people think Ward beats GGG is that not only is Ward a great fighter, he'll outweigh Golovkin in the ring by 10lbs.

I'm not upset. Why would I deny the obvious? Can't disagree with a single thing above. I have no problems with anyone refusing to give him a P4P ranking at this point.
I appreciate you...this is what the forum used to be like....we'd ask questions, agree or disagree but explain our position and debate.
its just the same dudes every day...el blanco, new england, 1g5a22, daggum, and etc. they get all emotional and stalk people's posts when they have a different position than they do.
Now its all if you dont agree with me you are a hater, rinse wash repeat
Its frustrating watching some one who has so much potential have it wasted.
Around 2012 was the first time I saw him fight live and i was like oh snap, Martinez has a live challenge at 154-160
then he has the injuries, loses to Cotto and politics comes into play now with Canelo
There comes a point where the excuses are piling up and fans are getting restless
I want to see how good or great he really is instead of being told.
The same posters who trashed hall of famers and more proven guys are illustrating their double standards.
Its getting to the point where he may need to leave K2 because his career is stalling...he is active but the quality of opposition wont make him a star or legend...its time for a change and less excuses.
He hasnt yet...thank you for being the only one man enough to admit it
I dont think he is JUST an overhyped puncher...he is has the potential to be a great fighter
He just hasnt proven his greatness vs elite opposition so IMO he is not ten p4p...simple as that
but he will never be seen as a great fighter, fighting the level of opposition he fights on a regular basis
is not my fault that, nor my problem that people get upset when I say the obvious....Legacies are built in the ring, not message boards, not board rooms being handed belts, and not by networks who tell people how great you are.
Only way people believe is by seeing and to date I dont see a top ten p4p fighter.

Faulty logic. Golovkin landed 41% on his last opponent, who was absolutely awful and got battered. If he lands 41% on the worst opposition possible, a guy he killed in the 2nd round, why do you think he's going to frequently land on one of the best defensive fighters in the game, one who typically gets hit with less than 20% from guys with a longer reach than Genady?
Even worse, if Wade landed 29% his punches on Golovkin, what do you think the bigger, faster, stronger, and infinitely better Ward will do?
Genady is not even a "great" counter-puncher against mediocre competition. How is he going to improve that while facing a fighter leagues above anyone he's faced?
There's a reason that no one with any credibility thinks Golovkin beats Ward.
You guys make him look bad by even bringing it up. Golovkin is fantastic at 160 right now and that should be good enough. Why not talk about Golovkin's strengths rather than argue fights that he would never win?

C'mon bro you just used faulty logic yourself. You're pulling up stats from a two round fight against freakin Wade for crying out loud. 71 of those punches were "jabs" half of which at least had no intention of landing and were just feeling out/gauge distance.
If you want to make an argument that Ward will be just as effective as he always is defensively against Golovkin, don't use compubox from a two round fight against what was essentially a tune up as proof, matter of fact don't use compubox at all (i.e literally two guys with clickers sitting ring side; one hand clicks jabs, one hand clicks power punches).
When ones makes a logical statement, Golovkin hardcores ask for proof. When one provides proof, they give statements such as the above, that it's not enough proof or that they just refuse to believe the provided evidence. When you close all the gaps and hammer home irrefutable truths (which is my only interest in this, not Ward vs GGG) then you get replies like the quote below...
then why all the whining from Ward fans? If its such a lock that Ward beats GGG, if its such a sure thing, then why bother with it?
Excellent point!
I don't really know why people bicker endlessly about such things. I rarely bring up the whole subject now that their paths areas never going to meet. But, when I see pollution on this board in the form of borderline mental defective gibberish, I sometimes can't help but put the rubbish in the receptacle.

He hasn't beaten an elite fighter yet. Though, he was perfectly willing to fight the only elite fighter Ward beat and Ward's best win, Froch. And go to his hometown no less and face him at a weight disadvantage.
I don't have any problems with people not rating GGG P4P at this point. I do think people who believe he's just an overhyped puncher either have an anti-GGG agenda or severe vision problems.

Thank you. So, pointing out your BS is trolling now? And you've never made me look like a dumb azz.
if you think I am, perception is your reality
the point is people get in their feelings when they dont agree with them
not my problem, tough tittie
so i got a prediction to a fight wrong...sue me
everyone does
doesnt change the fact Kov won and showed skills, nor does it change the fact that Hopkins is past prime and 50 years old...thats not trolling
do you even know what trolling means
I said Ward gets touched by GGG...a lot. Golovkin's a great counterpuncher with accuracy and timing. And he's got a great jab. If they're anywhere close in weight Golovkin's punches will do more damage. You feel GGG is an overhyped puncher, I see something more. I see a boxer who's technically superior to either Kessler or Froch, Ward's 2 best wins. I think most people who know boxing would agree.
K2 and GGG were "happy" not to fight Ward because Ward was never ready to fight. There was no 164 offer made. There was never an offer of any kind made to Ward.

I don't think you can fairly criticize GGG vs. Eubank. Golovkin is continuing his campaign at 160- so all catch weight talk is to the side.
Eubank has a big name and seems to want the fight. Saunders and Jacobs are completely MIA. Canelo is walking away from what the fans were calling for and moving back to a real weight class- just not the right one.
Quillin would be tough to negotiate and even if they made it- everyone would point to his loss to Jacobs (even though he would be a good fight for GGG).
There are some other guys floating around, and I admit I think this is probably too much too soon for Eubank Jr- but boxing is also sink or swim. If he wants it and feels ready- he is young and strong and is probably a trickier (if not tougher) opponent than Lemieux was in some ways.
I'd watch this before Canelo vs. Liam Smith, but obviously this isn't the right fight. I'm disappointed Canelo isn't going to start fighting at 160.
I said Hopkins...you knew the answer because another poster posted it
Man, trolling on this site has hit the *****ter
Yea im sure every fight you had a prediction for, you were correct...GFTOH
These handful of dudes hold on to every word I say because Im usually right...why go through the trouble of digging up a post from last year?
Because I make them look like dumb azzes on a daily basis.....tough tittie
Thank you. So, pointing out your BS is trolling now? And you've never made me look like a dumb azz.
NAME 1 elite fighter he has beat...just one
he has over 30 fights and only 3 vs current or former title holders...only a Lemiuex was in his prime, Ouma was washed up, and Geale was slightly past it but he was no world beater to begin with....yet this guy is supposed to be top 3 p4p. GTFO....Its fighters in their 20s that have taken more risks than this guy. Guys who get trashed like DSG, even khan took more risks than this guy and been in with better fighter
GGG is a good fighter, he is just overrated by casual fans and the hbo hype machine.....to be great you have to proof it...all the hype in the world wont change that fighters are judged by ring accomplishments and resume, not reputation
you can see whatever you what....GGG has never been in the ring with anyone as talented as ward...let alone Froch, Kessler, or even Abraham
Only chance he has is a punchers chance vs ward....Ward does majority of things better than GGG

Or how about Kovalev vs. Hopkins? What was your prediction there?
I said Hopkins...you knew the answer because another poster posted it

casuals man...they dont really follow the sport....9/10 the better boxer wins barring a KO.....boxing is simple....hit and not get it...GGG is not willie pep defensively and Ward doesnt punch like him
I got a laundry list of hyped punchers getting undressed by better technical fighter
all these punchers were great but the media went too far hyping them making great fighters a bit overrated....its a style preference thing.
whitaker-Chavez
Mayweather-Pac
Hopkins-Trinidad
Holyfield-Tyson....The list goes on and on and it will continue to happen if people dont use their brain and realize boxing is more than power. You have to land for it to matter.

who said he doesnt get touched? its boxing....He just doesnt have anything more than a punchers chance....thats why k2 and hbo were happy not to fight him and wanted 164....the fight was never realistic because they are building GGG up
You still did not say how he would beat ward you just compared GGG to froch and kessler
styles make fights....GGG is shorter, doesnt know how to fight going backwards
Ward can fight inside, on the pivot, and outside...GGG is straight up and down and vs someone like ward those guys get exposed...seen it a million times...overhyped puncher gets undressed vs a less popular supposedly feather fisted coward
GGG is not gonna outjab ward who is taller, faster and more varied footwork
He wont outbox ward, is easier to hit out of the two.....is the slower fighter....doesnt counter punch as well as ward
He'd get dominated....9-3 or 10-2 ...ward is just flat out better....was a better amatuer and a better pro
