Yes, Ward became the LHW champion. But there is something that is really relevant and needs to be clear: Ward was given the decision, he actually LOST.I agree with you that Ward lost, but 3 judges disagree with us. What is relevant is that Team GGG and his fans need to stop saying that "no one wants to fight GGG." Ward wanted that fight, and people said Ward was scared to face Kovalev. Ward showed them that he's was no coward, and now he's the LHW Champion! If he wasn't afraid to face Kovalev @ 175, he damn sure wasn't afraid to face GGG @ 168! On another note, K2 just negotiated with Haymon for Jacobs. I think they should be able to do the same for Lara!
All ten of the GGG trolls and haters will try to say that the Jacobs fight is a nothing fight just to support their claim that GGG has still fought nobody. Well to you ten trolls I say Lol. ''GGG is one of the greatest middleweights ever.'' as Roy Jones said the other day. GGG has fought the best that would fight him. Miguel Cotto ducked GGG. Sergio Martinez ducked GGG. Canelo ducked GGG. Andre Ward wanted a tuneup fight. Canelo Alvarez says he's not yet a middleweight. Miguel Cotto had zero interest. Floyd Mayweather Sr. says he's way too big for his son. Carl Froch is retiring. Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. is imploding. He'd be widely acclaimed as one of the world's great fighters, except it's kind of hard to judge him because he's never stood across the ring from another A-level opponent.
He'd get that with Ward. Or Alvarez. Or Cotto. Or one of any of a handful of fighters, none of whom seems too interested in getting into the ring with him.
And merrily, Gennady Golovkin just fights on, scoring brutal knockouts each time out and adding fans by the day. Ward talked a good game but he wanted nothing to do with GGG. Carl Froch turned down big money to fight GGG. While the Mayweather sycophants would undoubtedly say that Golovkin has never seen anyone like Mayweather, the reverse is also true: Mayweather has never faced an opponent as dangerous, and with as many tools, as Golovkin. So that fight will never happen even though GGG would fight at 154 for that fight. GGG would walk right through anything Mayweather threw and beat him down. Mayweather is 49-0 and still a marvel inside the ring, but his once-impregnable defense has been broken down by Maidana. He'd have great difficulty at 38 years old standing up to the punishing onslaught Golovkin would bring. Rest assured, though, that fight will never occur, and not just because of Mayweather's ties to Showtime and Golovkin's to HBO. Mayweather has one of boxing's most astute minds and he knows a Golovkin fight would be extraordinarily difficult for him. The two men are polar opposites of each other in many ways. Mayweather was a master defender, while Golovkin is a crushing puncher who may be the finest offensive machine in boxing since a prime Marvelous Marvin Hagler more than a quarter of a century ago.
^^^^^^This. I watched the Pirog/Jacobs fight last night. Jacobs was schooled by Pirog and couldn't handle his aggressive hunting style. It's pretty funny that the judges in Vegas had Jacobs ahead 3 rounds to 1 before Pirog delivered the knock out in round 5. I guess it might be true about that venue. Either way Golovkin will methodically hunt Jacobs down and unless Jacobs comes out flailing and hits GGG clean well you know the rest. Golovkin has the highest knockout percentage in MW history, hasn't been close to losing a fight and continues to get criticized by biased so called boxing fans. If he is successful in beating Jacobs wait for the excuses to come. They'll be on this forum within an hour of the fight.
This is the best fight at 160 (if I remove Canelo from the equation).
If GGG wins this one he should be given the credit he deserves.
Canelo should pass the JCC fight and go for BJS. Then we can have ourselves a Middleweight unification in September.
buying this fight is supporting boxing. Bums on here talk about UFC being a shitty sport but then they go ahead and ignore fights that can put boxing on the map again.
Hate it or love it, people buy ufc ppvs, but hardcore boxing fans won't buy boxing ppvs.
This is a great fight props to both men for taking the biggest challenge at 160 and fighting each other. There can be no criticism from anybody unless you're an idiot. This is what boxing is all about the winner is the king at 160 bring it on!
Can't wait for March 19th when all the GGG haters call Jacobs a bum who never did anything.

In your opinion.
Many people believe Ward won the majority of the rounds, just not as impressively as Kovalev's rounds.
Jim Lampley explains it perfectly on this week's "The Fight Game"
GGG didn't want it with Ward! He chose to pursue Cotto and Canelo, who fought each other @ 155. I don't blame him, because they're both bigger PPV draws, but don't change history. The 164 CW request was worse than Canelo's 165 request to Chavez Jr. Ward moved up and became the LHW Champion! GGG fought Dominic Wade and Kell Brook. It is what it is!

It's good to see mutual respect between Jacobs and GGG. Also good to see that Jacobs is actually participating enthusiastically with the promotion, unlike the contract-breaker Ward, who did almost nothing to help promote his title fight with Kovalev.

Well said ! No need for me to post !

Thurman vs. Garcia and GGG vs. Jacobs. MARCH MADNESS!!! Good thing only one fight is a PPV! Not sure if i'll pay, but i'll wait to see what the GGG vs. Jacobs undercard looks like! In a perfect world, BJ Saunders would face Khurtsidze on the undercard!
They're the same day?
HBO had the press announcement ready and the tickets priced and ready very quickly. I read from this that they had to give Jacobs what he wanted or all of the pre announcement groundwork they laid would have been wasted.
