i actually gave ward round 1 and 2 was only 10-9 since ward dominated the first 2 minutes and 30 seconds. yeah ok he got caught with the only flush punch kovalev landed in the entire fight but so what. some people focus on clean punches too much and not enough on ring wardsmanship.
You've got a fair point there. That's why I scored the 2nd round 10-10. Anyone can knock someone down if you catch them flush but it's a lot harder to get up and see out a round after going down. So I scored -1 for Ward getting bowled over but I scored him +2 for getting up and seeing out the round.
Saw an interview on Utube, Malignaggi and Macklin along with Adam Smith interviewing Ward straight after the fight. I genuinely thought we were about to witness a ****in gangbang right there - they fawned all over him. Macklin quote: "Yes Andre, I actually gave you rounds 3, 4, 5 and 6..." Seriously, that's what he said. If he gave him those, then he would clearly have given him the last 6 also. Best case scenario for KK on his score card would be 117-110. What a ****in embarrassment. He should have had his SKY contract ripped up right there in front of the camera. That's it, I'm programming the mute button to kick in for all SKY boxing broadcasts from now on.

Where is Michael Rosenthal's (The Ring) 114-113 Ward? How about Lyle Fitzsimmons' (BoxingScene) 114-113 Ward?
Anyway, clearly this shows no comparison can be made with Pac-Bradley 1. Even after removing all Filipino scorecards, 97% of the media scorecards were for Pacquiao. AND the majority of those scorecards were by very wide margins (almost all 4 points or more).
http://boxrec.com/media/index.php/Manny_Pacquiao_vs._Timothy_Bradley_(1st_meeting)
In the case of Ward-Kovalev however, almost 90% of the scorecards are decided by fewer than 4 pts. And many more scorecards for Ward than Bradley.
You gave ward the 6th of all rounds? Of course you can give him rounds before then. 3 and 5 were his. Nobody gave him the 6th :lol1:
Ward didnt win the third.
He was down 5-1 with a knovkfown on top of that.
Kovalev clearly won the 10th .
the 9th,11th were swing rounds. kovalev landed more damage , kovalev matched wards jabs. Kovalev got no credit for short rt hands to wards ear or head poopping rt uppercuts.
The 12th was kovalev
the fight was close but a kovalev win is much more acceptable than ward's...actually you got to be a little bias to give ward the win and that's what the judges did...to think no one among the 3 judges even considered a kovalev victory is ridiculous...ward already had the upperhand even before the bell rang for the 1st round imo.
"Most respected Boxing analyst gave the fight to Ward." - Redd Foxx.
It just makes me laugh.
thats how you know Red Dingo is a lying sack of ****. Pretty all the esteemed names in boxing journalism from The Ring to the Guardian, to The Telegraph, to the LA Times to Boxing News etc etc etc gave the fight to Kovalev.
I think of the 21 genuine boxing publications and journalists I counted (not counting **** like boxing asylum and stuff) the score was 17-4 to Kovalev.
It was that easy.
That's in line with what I've seen. Much easier to score the fight for Kovalev than Ward, and the scorecards reflect it. Most of them also reflect how close the fight was.
yeah the 3rd is clearly kovalev's. ward landed one nice jab that snapped kov's head so i guess he deserves it even thogh kov himself landed a 3 punch combo that drove ward back on top of a bunch of jabs and other shots. very silly to give that round to ward simply because he wasn't dominated as much.
You can't give Kovalev rounds just because Ward didn't go down. This is america.

This. Some people gave that round to Ward just because he didn't look as bad as the previous two. Stupid. That's not how you score a fight.
Ward won one round in the first half of the fight (I believe it was the 5th on my card) and was knocked down in the process. He needed to do a lot more than what he actually ended up doing. A lot more.
rounds in the second half count for triple

No way Ward is winning the 3th...or just rewatch it.

I rewatched it, and to me, you can't give a single round to Ward before the 6th(the first round I gave to Ward.
Kovalev clearly outpunched him with his jab and right hand, those jabs were poping hard on Ward's face.
So Ward needed to win the last 7 rounds wich didn't happen IMO.
All I need to know is Kovalev won the 12th IMO and so I think as a champion, Kova got robbed.
I'm not calling it "a could have gone either" anymore but more a "hometown decision" as that old fart of Merchant said.
Ward was beaten physically through the whole fight and was quite uneffective.
Still a close fight, but Kova is a clear winner IMO.

Same thing I took from this, Kovalev won 3 rounds :lol1:
Kovalev won that fight, plain and simple. Anywhere but America, the correct winner would have got the decision.
when Dontae from D nation and the whole Mayweather gym call it a "could have gone either way",
that's all you need to know to clonclude that the russian guy got coned lol
