i like how they were working on floyds shell defense. its about 4:30 into the video. looks like diaz wants him to just straight up hammer floyds left arm and chest when he goes into it.
chavez beats zbik, signs to fight martinez, goes out with an injury before the fight, wbc creates the new world injured middleweight championship belt.
I think they'll talk rematch but it won't happen for a while. I see GB throwing a truck load of money at BJS so Canelo and grab a belt. Then they'll keep it in house, he'll fight lemieux and a couple of mandatories. All of a sudden GGG will be 37-38 and Canelo will be ready for the rematch.
I wouldn't say worse, but it definitely looks forced. He doesn't look like he as a lot of flow anymore. It looks like he has to think about everything before he does it and thats going to cost him against anyone with power.
I work at staples. As of monday before the fight, they had to cut staff for the event because only 2 k had been sold. I talked to a couple of supervisors and they said 5,200 at the gate with a lot of give aways
I'm wondering if things are starting to fall apart with top rank. Imagine if Chavez doesn't sign back up or goes free agent. You have manny who's in his last year, granted he'll probably re-sign, but won't that be interesting if he did the same to get the mayweather fight. Marquez is circling the drain, provadnikov doesn't have an opponent. I like Alvarado but the dudes not a star. Rios is a joke, Crawford isn't ready, lomachenko got derailed (probably just temporary but still), shiming is only known is china, donaire looks gun shy, and bob doesn't like rigondeaux. Who am I missing on the list? Excuse me as I cringe at my run on sentences.
I missed Bradley and Garcia. Garcia is ready for the big times I think. Also I think bradley kinda played arums balls off in the negotiations. He gets 6 million guaranteed a fight when arum has a thin stable at welter.
i see the comparison. wrestling is fake, sure. they michaels, hart, and mcmahon talked about how it would go before it happened (as they always do it wrestling), hart gets the win. hart walks out and mcmahon goes up to shawn michaels and basically goes, "fcuk what i told him, youre going to win the fight." quick bell and michaels gets the win. he even wrote about it in his book(insert joke here) about how he felt like a jackass for taking advantage of it. so yes, wrestling it fake, but it was a straight up screwjob about who would win.
he's a B+ fighter, but he's got the backing of golden boy. he'll probably take paulie's belt, never face anyone with power and his fanboys will remember him as one of the greatest ever.
as far as i know, theyve never tried to hide the fact that its about money. if someone unifies, then all the belts get multiple percentages of the purse. less money for them is unacceptable. which is why they will say fcuk off to their own rules when it comes to guys like floyd and manny and they start creating belts for them to win if they dont have one in the mix already.
if manny makes it a full ww fight at 147 then i give him no credit. if he tries making that last request, then he's not trying to hide it. they can totally do this fight at 140, but he'll be looking for the size advantage again.
hatton- top dog at 140 lbs, solid win (and pretty shocking the way it went down).
cotto- one of the tops at 147, i think the weight played a factor, but the way cotto fought that fight i think he would have lost regardless.
clottely- really? one of the best? the two biggest stars of that fight were manny and cowboy stadium.
margarito- two guys who had one fight between them at 154 in recent memory fighting at a catchweight for a belt neither was ranked for. enough said.
mosley- was a joke during the built up and an even worse joke during the fight. everyone knew mosley was way past it.
marquez- tops at 135, probably a force at 140, but manny wanted to bloat him up to 144 to get the convincing win. ended up being a great fight, but i dont think thats what manny expected.
bradley- one fight of note at 147. granted, bradley was the one who challenged so he had to move up. pac looked like he underestimated him and thought it would be easy. cost him big.
rios is a bad example. everyone saw him on tv eating full plates of food. the dude has no discipline and he pays for it the last 2 or 3 days when he has to starve. cotto trains properly, but theres always a limit to what you can drop before it starts hurting you. i dont pretend to know if thats 145 for cotto, but it could have been.
would you have preferred him to say that weight is hurting him and he doesnt think he'll be 100% during the fight? that doesn't invoke much confidence in his team or for a viewer to pay for the fight.
i was just saying this is another post. shady promoters have found a paradise in texas. look for a lot more fights to happen there since it seems that the people outside the ring can have a pretty big influence inside the ring.
I'll give you an example:
Manny skipped 140 and went from 135 to 147. He was applauded.
Ghost skipped 140 and went from 135 to 147. He was applauded.
Broner skipped 140 and went from 135 t 147. He ducked 140lb weight class and was scared of matts.
See the difference? Can you understand why a Broner fan might think take it as racist?
Manny fought Hatton at 140 (still seen as the best in the division) and wrecked him.
Guerrero was scheduled to fight maidana at 140 and the honda center in Anaheim I think. Guerrero got hurt a few weeks before the fight and everyone moved on. He had a chance for a belt at 147 against a huge puncher in aydin, and turned in into a Floyd fight.
Broner took a fight against light hitting paulie when everyone wanted to see him fight lucas.

Interesting choice to have mike anchoring the 5 o'clock schedule. I thought Oleg would have had it for sure.
I was hoping the maidana's jab would be developed enough to set up shots and give broner problems. I was thinking maidana would have early success with his power and then broner would go alexander stlye with a hit and hold to try and win a decision. Very happy to be wrong. Broner totally wore it on his face that he had noo answers
