I don't see anything even remotely raunchy about that photo lol and anyone who doesn't go down on their woman needs to learn a thing or two, open up a whole new world in the bedroom
Canelo obviously has some major flaws to work on, particularly his footwork and stamina, but you have to be impressed that despite those flaws he was still able to beat Trout. His defense and head movement looked good. As long as he can do something about his poor stamina he'll be fine.
Mayweather won, as expected, but despite how people will discredit it now it's still a good win versus a good opponent. The biggest thing Guerrero lacked was adaptability. As far as I noticed he didn't do much different throughout the fight. It was a constant jab or feint and the straight left with body shots and hooks only in close and when holding. I didn't catch any left hand feints or leads to try to set up the hook and that made him predictable and easy to adapt to for Floyd who is a master at adapting.
I was a big fan a few years back. Loved him up because of all the potential, but in the past few years I've learned the importance of the mental aspect of life and that kind of took away from being a big Dawson fan.
I didn't see the Dawson fight, but the Lopez was definitely a good stoppage. Even while I was watching it I wanted the ref to step in when he did. Lopez was taking some heavy shots cleanly, I thought it was a great stoppage.
I'm not one of those who thinks he would beat Martinez quite yet, but I think the love for him is more about his abilities and potential then who he's beaten. Clearly his resume has a lot of work to go before he can be considered an elite fighter, but he has all the ability to get there and aside from Martinez who at 160 is clearly a better fighter?
He can do 3 fights a year for the next 4 years, just not all fights like last nights. He's always gonna take punches to give them, but most fighters he faces won't fight him the way Alvarado did. Now if his next fights are Pacquiao and Matthyse he isn't lasting another 4 years.
As much as I love Andre Ward, I'd call him and a prime Jones an 80-20 fight for Roy. At his best he was just too fast and too powerful. His reflexes were out of this world. Now I also don't think we've seen Ward at his best, but regardless Jones is the pick.
To me the only problem with trying to unify the belts and fighting either K9 or Trout in September is that it's headlining a PPV. You can't knock Canelo for the competition, he was initially fighting Williams which would have been a great fight. He's only 22 so he's got time to fight the top competition after unifying, but who wants to buy a PPV where the main event is against K9 or Trout?
I'd say neither did better then the other, but both looked like lesser fighters than they used to be, Pacquiao especially. The Mayweather that fought Cotto would win a wide UD over the Pac that fought Bradley. The win over Bradley was a good win, but I've never seen anything in a Bradley fight that gave me the impression he could beat Manny. What previous Bradley win made people think he would beat Pacman?
1. Andre Ward
2. Nonito Donaire
3. Yuriorkis Gamboa
4. Tim Bradley
5. Erislandy Lara
6. Adrien Broner
7. Guillermo Rigondeaux
8. Andre Dirrell
9. Chad Dawson
10. Victor Ortiz
Honorable mention as possibilities to Gary Russel and Canelo.
I'm sure I'm missing someone who I would probably add to the list, but that's a rough top ten in three years.
I could see this list of guys we know of, have proven to be high level boxers & have obvious talent today. I think in 3 years we will be seeing 2-3 names on this list who aren't quite as well thought of now or aren't even on the world class scene yet & those guys would be incredibly hard guesses to make.
Yea three years down the road is tough to predict in sports. I prefer to go with somewhat known commodities rather then just outright prospects. At least with the known fighters you have the same skill quality, but you also have a body of work to base the prediction off of.
There were a lot of stipulations for that rebate. For example, here in Pennsylvania the rebate covered the cost of the beer only and didn't refund any of the PPV purchase price. So it's not like every PPV order cost $15, but that would have been nice.
If I were to pick the top 5 complete active fighters I'd go with:
1. Andre Ward (who happens to be my favorite fighter)
2. Floyd Mayweather
3. Miguel Cotto
4. JMM
5. Tim Bradley / Nonito Donaire
legacy wise no... but straight up in a boxing ring.. just who wins? roy gives them all a run for them money between 160-175... and IMO and a lot of others nobody beats him at 168.. including joseph.
I think this is what the starter is implying. Legacy wise Roy isn't in the conversation at 160 or 168 because he didn't fight long enough at those weights. At 175 he is more in the conversation but the best is pushing it. However like Reed said in his prime at those weights is where the argument is, and I don't think I would pick anybody over him.
I think Marquez or Vasquez would bring more money....
But i'd love to see a rematch. Hell yeah.
I completely agree about the money but he should get what he can out of the lower divisions before moving him up, because I don't think he goes all 12 with Marquez or Vazquez. Then again Shaw might not think he survives Donaire so maybe moving him right up isn't a bad idea.
Donaire is probably Vic's best option and it looks like Shaw is going to stand in his way. Montiel would also be a good fight but I don't see Vic going to 122 to fight Marquez or Vazquez so ruling Donaire out completely is foolish.
Unfortunately for Donaire, Gary Shaw has all of the Showtime dates. Notice how he hasn't fought on Showtime since?
It's a shame because Donaire showed how good he can be and it doesn't seem like he's going to get a chance. Hopefully Shaw will get over it and do what's right for Vic and make the rematch happen.
Gotta admit I'm a little surprised that the Lesnar fight broke a million buys. I'm also not surprised that most boxing fights didn't do very well. A lot of them had no place being on PPV.
The big difference is that MMA has is much more violent, which appeals to a lot of young people. They all want to see the quick KO and that's about it. Most MMA fans don't care for the skill involved in the sport. Boxing has been around as an event much longer than MMA and will be around for a long time to come. Neither sport is going to die over the next decade so why bother going at it with fans of the opposite.
Of official fights I can't wait for Diaz v JMM. Might not be a FOTY slugfest bout it should be a great fight to watch. A perfect blend of action and technique, what more could a boxing fan ask for. Unofficial fights I want to see Pac v Hatton obviously, Cotto v Marg rematch, and Vazquez v Lopez.
KT had the best weapon to combat Pacman's speed, timing. Weather or not he could time out his right and if Pac could take it would decide the fight. Pac's activity and speed would be enough to get him a decision, so I think it would come down to his chin and Tszyu's timing. I would pick Tszyu by late KO/TKO.
He deserves all the credit in the world. Coming virtually out of nowhere against the top rated guy in the division and coming up just short is nothing to be ashamed of. As long as he can bounce back from this loss he has a bright future, hopefully he can get another big fight, possibly against the loser of Marquez Diaz.
This was a terrible thing to watch. The fight was stopped after what should have been a KO and then a fight which was mostly one sided ends in a draw. I honestly couldn't believe what I saw.
Look, I like JMM but Im sick and tired of everyone dissing these other fighters. You guys act like its his fault that he hasnt had a big fight. He was banned from the US. He's obviously not afraid. You say that he should fight Guzman but who even says that JMM can beat Guzman? Again, I have respect for JMM but Im so sick of the mass media sweating guys like Pac, JMM, MAB, and EM when all they basically do is fight eachothe a million times.
Well now that he can fight in the US he should know you have to work your way up. You can't just walk in with no notable wins on you resume and expect the top guy in the division to just accept you challenge when there are bigger fights with more proven fighters out there.
